I like how you show the minor mistakes and frustrations as well. Makes it much more down to earth and relatable to my own reno work.
I'm loving the new format of you talking directly at us instead of voiceovering everything.
I’m so glad to hear that! I’m still torn which one I would continue but I am doing the whole bathroom remodel vlog style so I can collect the numbers and see..
I just curious your sign then found you were born in April...as your so handy
I love your transparency!! Yes, I have screwed into a pipe before. LOL!! I have also cut holes on the wrong end of drywall not remembering that it would be flipped around. DOH!!!! I love that you can laugh at yourself as well. Love your videos, keep them coming!!!
I’m renovating/ remodeling my family built 50s home by myself, using RUclips as a guide. You have been hands down the best RUclipsr to educate me throughout the process. Thank you so much you have no ideas how much this is helping me!!❤
Not only have I drilled into a pex water line, putting drywall up in a bathroom, just like you - but I've also sent a spade bit through a 14/2 electrical wire, because I was "certain" there'd be no wires there. That was a loud POP, blue spark and then darkness in the entire house!
Oh I bet that was fun!
@@patty109109 I had installed the pex myself, so I could just shut off the water and replace that stretch. The electrical one, I also installed myself, but for it, I had add an outlet in that spot in order to junction them together. That was a pain and the drywall around that new plug, has never really been fixed. lol
you’re the first person I’ve seen yet, to use hot mud to tape with. I was always told that you use hot mud to patch holes in seams between drywall. Your video helps me feel better, knowing, that I can do the drywall taping and muddying myself. Thank you.
Very helpful instructions you gave there.
I like how u make those mistakesthen fix them, its real life things that happend to us everyday on the job.
Just discovered your channel today. Love your videos! You explain things so well. I really appreciate you revealing your infrequent mistakes and correcting them. You are indeed a true perfectionist. Look forward to seeing more of your projects.
Aw thank you!
I love that you show the struggle and mistakes. I have watched alot of youtube to start my basement but many people make it looks so easy which it is not. Good Job
You are a girl after my own heart use your head. Precisely ❤
I’ve learnt so much about drywall from this video. Thank you!
So glad to see you post another video! I've been taking a social media break, so I haven't seen any of your new content these last few weeks!
I love what you've been doing at the Lake House. Your work is so professional because you understand how important it is to do the prep work.
First and foremost you are a beast but a very precise one ha. Just an idea for ceiling drywall you can try to make a "T" out of 2 2x4's for a support to hold it for you.
A bigger coincidence is that I was born on April 29 1991! Same day as the newspaper. My jaw dropped, lol.
Nice work and happy birthday 🎂
Your hair is beautiful and your remodel looks great.
Hello Melissa. Excellent video as always. You're looking fit and fantastic and ready to take on the day - and I'm glad to see you're making progress on your remodeling. Your home DIY skills are absolutely impeccable. 😊😊👍👍
You are a gem! This video had all my attention and was interesting.
The newspaper 👀😮 wow! That's crazy
You are my hero! ❤😊 you are so inspiring!
Nice Another well done job Melissa
Big thumbs up for doing this yourself! I did the bathroom in my old house and the walls also. Yep I cut the holes in type wrong place and put a screw through a pipe too! We live and learn!❤😂
Hahaha we are too alike 😅
These videos are outstanding. I admire your patience as much as your skills. Slowly building up my confidence….👍
Wow! That newspaper! So cool! I was 15 years old when you were born.
Thanks for this video! I’ve been wanting to learn how to do this. I’m saving this video.
I appreciate you admitting that you don’t like asking for help, lol. Your content has helped me so much.
Thank you!
About the holes drilled in the wrong place, don’t feel too bad. We ALL do stuff like this. I once “burned an inch” when using a tape measure, and forgot to do the math when I made my cut and I was 1 full inch off.
Cool hair!
You do such awesome work as always, I always learn something from you. So when I get ready to do my basement and drywall it, I will remember that for the tape.
These are the best drywall tips ever! Especially when it comes to sanding and taping. Thank you!
I’m so glad you found it helpful!
Really good work! I know the struggle! You did so good.
Niche - Go with it. No big deal that it is not centered. More storage in a small bathroom is always preferable. Screw into plumbing - poo happens. You handled it well, by shutting the water off, and dealing with the problem. If there is plumbing, electrical, HVAC, hot water / chilled water pipes, or anything else in the wall, I don't want to accidentally screw into, I mark on the drywall in pencil where these items are located. Also, I will use Loctite PL Premium construction adhesive anywhere I can not get screw. Keep up the good work. I greatly appreciate all the time and effort you put into producing these videos.
The 'Use your head' cracked me up 😂😂 you doing a great job 🎉
Good job, enjoyed watching.
You are seriously a boss! 😮
Nicely done! 😊👍🏼
I’ll have to try wetting my tape. I’m new to drywalling so thanks for the tip!
Dude that FIT 🎊 frickin fantastic
Don't you love it when it happens like
I'm just as loud about it
It's a must celebrate
You mentioned you were born in April and so was I! I feel like we’re very similar - I paint, collect plants, and I love your style!
New hair color is just awesome.
It was a bit thrilling to see a screwed-through pipe but you did recover nicely. Good job as always.
And please keep this format
I want to do this!!!!
Genius, I hung drywall at my last house and the tape would always bubble up! I wish I knew about wetting it then! It would have saved me so much sanding!
quel travail Mélissa c est superbe bravo et bon courage patrick
Great video!
So to remove the bulkhead I would have suggested that you do spray foam so that you can just do the drywall at a slant to highlight the architectural feature and you would still be able to do the beam work you wanted
When I hang ceiling drywall alone I screw a 2 x 4 ledger to the wall as an extra pair of hands. Screw it about 3/4” from the top, start driving screws from the opposite side and work your way to the ledger. Also, most professional drywallers don’t wet their tape, just be sure to press the air out from behind the tape.
The only project I am afraid of
Your hair looks great !
Great job Mel!! Bathroom looking great! I am doing a simple renov job and discovered newspapers from feb 1963, front pages talking about JFK and Harold Wilson, i love discovering those sort of things! Was it me who gave you the tip of wetting the tape? I tell everyone now. I learnt it about 12 years ago from an old Polish plasterer, he would only do plasterboard, nothing else. It was a masterclass in a month from an old school specialist. He had no problems sharing, a lot specialists at least where I live talk down any competition, like a few figjam commentators you have here. Ignore them. Sharing is caring!! Another tip I learnt is that you can get a bit for your drill, which screws in the screws to the exact measurement. Therefore, no possibility of puncturing the plasterboard or buying a specialist plasterboard drill.
I’ve seen those and if I did drywall regularly I would definitely get one of those drills!
I’ve done it with a brad nailer on base molding. Had to shut off water to the entire house. Haven’t moved that fast in years!
A friends house had a drywall screw into a water pipe and it took many years to rust through and start leaking.
The paper tape is for guys that do it everyday so I use the mesh tape that is more user friendly and without the bubbles you can get with paper that are a pain to fix
I’ve been doing drywall in my kitchen and I felt your pain when you realized you put the holes for the pipes in the wrong spot.
I think out of all my outlet cutouts, only 1 was a near perfect fit 😂
The whole process has taken me way longer than it should’ve. I’ll finally be mudding and taping this weekend 🤦🏽♀️
Such a handy girl is every handyman dream! 😍👍Oh yeah.
You're amazing. ❤
It might give a better cut to score the outside then cut the backing paper after snapping it. You might be smoothy off too much of the mud if your tape bubbles when you don't wet it first on the first layer.
Happy early or belated Birthday!
That is SUPER hard to get those holes cut out at the right spots! Great job!
It happens every time I say something and I get all cocky it's like ugh great it's not biting
You crack me up I talk to myself all the time... Laugh at myself
Get it girl.❤
I need to remodel, what tools do I need to start with. I live in a mobile home in need to repair ceilings walls redo the bathroom. The kitchen also need a face-lift. 😢 I have no tools
My first house was an older house in the Chicago suburbs. Opened the wall and found German-language newspapers from the 1930s. Really cool, like opening a time vault. Now whenever I do remodeling projects I write a little message on the inner walls, like "Good luck with your project.".
I left a message under the underlayment on the subfloor in this house, too! :)
Oh you are my soul tribe sister...
I made that flipped drywall mistake too... makes me like Nooooo 😩
Poor us
Thank you.
I thought you looked about my daughters age. Cool. You make nice videos.
You are definitely the BOSS !!!! Wow ! 👍🐕🦺😎
Nice job Mellissa, love the video. Hopefully you didn’t get fiberglass fibers in your eyes (been there, done that and it’s painful!).
Yes I have drilled into water pipe at 10 pm, neighbor came over to turn water off
👍 God job Melissa
At 11:03, I was proud of you girl😊
Doing things like this could be nerve wracking ❤
hello welcome to the wood its is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks friends randy
Did you ever get the ridgid impact stealth? Great impact for inside use and it doesnt destroy the hearing
What a lucky husband, he don’t have a honey to do list list cuz she does it all
I always wet my tape too I don't think the wet mud has enough water in it to completely wet the tape and you will always get those bubbles.
Sra.
Thank you for your comment, it brightened my day!
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog fa
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog un placer!!!
I was also born April 1991 now I have to subscribe lol
bottom first so you can set second sheet on it
Good job again Melissa, but you're right...drywall, ugh!
First time checking out this channel. I'm always amazed how many attractive girls there are on RUclips who are into DIY and do a great job. Where do you ladies come from? I'm in L.A. and don't know anyone who would take on this challenge. I love it. One note, however, is I noticed you scrunched a lot of the insulation into the cavities. When you do that, it can substantially reduce the R value and negates everything you were hoping to achieve. Just something I noticed. Keep up the good work and spirit!
QUESTION: Why do you use short pieces of tape about the width of each panel, with spaces between each one?
The ideal is that you use one solid piece of tape across the whole seam. I was not being particularly careful here because it’ll be covered up by my wall paneling anyway. On corners I used one solid piece of tape
Let go
Yea that sheet rock hanging can be tricky yea but those are small holes
One thing i hate about renovating is doing mud wall.
+1 on the nail into the water pipe club.
Something about a girl that knows how to use here hands is attractive
Do you have a video about texturing
Nope, I hate the look of textured walls
@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog ok thank you
Why didn’t you install your sheets vertically?
I didn’t, I installed them horizontally so the tapered edge was where they meet
Умница ❤🤗 Трудолюбивая и красивая девушка.
👍
Please don't take this the wrong way, but I did not anticipate today to come across a lady doing renovation so expertly and efficiently. You do great work and are such a hardworking person. Amazing.
👍🏻💪🏻🔥
hi
@WelcometotheWoodsBlog I thought I may have made this mistake and learned the hard way about nail guns. I just never wanted anyone else to experience this, so here it goes from 13:44 about nail guns. . . ruclips.net/video/19Gm5yQFWRs/видео.htmlm44s
That's a good tip I've never thought of before! Thanks for sharing :)
What a coincidence. I am doing drywall at the moment. But you definitely look better doing it than I do.
Cute.
😀

Use your phone, take a picture and view it before you screw in place.
That piece of ceiling dry wall weighs more than you. Be careful.
💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍
😅Pls use a mask with all that dust, looks great!
One trick of the trade for tight fits like you had next to your window is to cut a straight line on the back of the drywall so you can fold it a bit into tight spots. Saves having to tape that cut joint. Love your show.
