  • I have ridden over 1000 roller coasters, but one stands above the rest as the worst roller coaster I have ever ridden. And that ride is Coaster Express at Parque Warner Madrid. This RCCA wooden roller coaster is the roughest and most painful coaster I have ever ridden.

@@alextoriolorente5227yeah, rcca makes cheap, poorly built coasters. Even a park as popular as kings island struggled to maintain their coasters, just because they're so badly built, intact they were illegally built in many cases, such as by having sub companies build coasters for them to avoid lawsuits. That's illegal, but rcca somehow got away with it.

I'm so happy to see a Coaster Express review !
Coaster fandom is very USA centric, with only really big parks from Europe and Japan getting a little bit of attention. Being based in Madrid I've always asked me how good or bad some of the rides here would rank against american coasters, because Coaster Express feels like a very very awful and brutal ride. It's so brutal that I've develop a strange masochist love for it. It's not about airtime or fun, it's just about being able to survive it. I don't even want it to be an RMC just because as a bad ride as it is, it's unique. Funny that people usually intimidated by Stunt falls, Batman or Superman end up feeling safer with that woodie and riding it .
For anyone reading this, if you ever found yourself on the top of that lift hill, NEVER rest your back in the seat. Just lean forward. Trust me, it would hurt a lot less.

All big Spanish parks, save Port Aventura wich is the lone crown jewel of Spanish amusement rides, are huge money sinks that only stay up because of the horribly corrupt polytical system. They cost millions of dollars a year to just stay up on a reasonable condition, never mind investing in new attractions.
In fact the ONLY reason the other RCCA on Spain, the SBNO Magnus Colossus in Terra Mítica, hasn't yet been torn down is that it would be too expensive to demolish.

I can't imagine that the Intamin trains help with the roughness. My impression is they are quite heavy compared to other wooden coaster trains, since they are designed for pre-fabs that have much stronger track and support structures. Using them on a traditional wooden coaster seems to have resulted in relentless jackhammering. Since this was built in 2002, I think they should've gotten a pre-fab if they wanted a massive wooden coaster, but anyone who goes with RCCA is trying to build on the cheap, so I doubt they could've afforded a pre-fab.

My sister is going to go to Spain to train to become a professional tennis player, so I can see myself visiting this park a lot in the next few years. My first visit will most likely be this year and I can't wait to ride Batman Gotham City Escape, but if Parque Warner Madrid RMCs this, they will end up with two top 5 coasters, something not even Cedar Point could boast. RCCA makes Dinn Corporation coasters look elite, not going to lie. It made Mean Streak look like an elite wood coaster. At least Mean Streak was more well-liked, and it actually made the top 10 wood coasters in its early years. RCCA is like taking people who worked in grocery stores and got 50s on their physics and engineering exams, and told them to design and build these roller coasters. I'm surprised some of their rides are still in existence, and I'm surprised you actually liked Bandit at Movie Park Germany :D But Bandit did get retracking last year I believe. This company was the epitome of just money seekers, and their roller coasters looked atrocious. The track work looked like it was designed by children, the transitions looked like they just needed extra space to cover in the layout, the wood was probably C-grade at best, and their layouts looked like everyone wanted to go on vacation early. And Intamin trains on this ride? Intamin's pre-fabricated wood coaster trains deserve a better ride. And I also think that because of the hot conditions, the wood is bound to be in worse conditions and not last very well. I know that happened with Gwazi at Busch Gardens.

Arrow had Ron Toomer and Alan Schilke at one point, and Dinn had Charles Dinn who was part of Kings Island's maintenance team, so they had people who knew what they were doing. Much more than 15 years ago I had my last ride in Montezum at Hopi Hari (Brazil) and it was painful. The coaster didn't even have 10 years. I left with a bruise in my thigh from hitting the side of the seat/car. I can't imagine how it is today and I don't wanna find out. If you go to Google you will read people asking the park to close the ride, because some of them had injuries in the back/neck after riding it. But because it's the only real coaster (and only wooden coaster) in Brazil, it still standind.

After the helix, it drops to a giant camelback. After the camelback, it goes to a giant turnaround to the right.
