The Dancing Dolls are a unit of the Southern University Marching Band
also known as "The Human JukeBox". (Baton Rouge, LA)
"Lawrence Jackson, Southern University's band director, said Madonna discovered the Dancing Dolls after watching a video of one of their performances on the popular streaming video website.
"It goes to show the power of RUclips," Jackson said with a laugh.
After three trips to New York to practice with Madonna, the Dancing Dolls finally got their chance to show the world their talents at halftime of a game that has drawn more than 100 million viewers the past two years."

Rod Bell actually the dancing dolls were the first HBCU to have dancers with the band. Many mistakenly think it was Alcorn beverage the Golden Girls were initially apart of the band in 1968, abs the Dancing Dolls changed their name in 1969. But, the Southern Belles were first name. In the early Sixties. The idea of even having a danceteam in front of a band was rooted from New Orleans. L.B. Landry was the first, history for you that I learned, to incorporate dancers with the band. Not a pompom squad, cheerleaders, pep squad, or majorettes, but a dance line

Be encouraged!!!! Bottom feeders/haters will always take any and every opportunity to try putting others down, to boost their own low self-esteem. The educated among us, know that Louisiana has one of the strongest cultures in the world, let alone the United States...

First off you need to ask yourself, "How many SU students tryout for the Dolls each year" but just didnt make the cut?!?!?!
    quote:
"The Dolls normally have 11 members, but Madonna said she needed at least 20 dancers for the number, so the group pulled in nine more Southern students that they knew were good dancers, Southern University spokesman Edward Pratt said."

Your dancin dolls, aka SOUTHERN BELLES, were NOT the 1st dance line to perform with marching bands. Maybe in your neck of the woods...but they were NOT the 1st. But if it makes you Louisiana people feel better then fine...they were the 1st...Now does this make you feel better now?...GEEZ!!!

What does this have to do with my point regarding the SU Dancing Dolls being the first HBCU danceline? Nevermind.... No need to respond.

Which ones are the Dolls? too many to be just SU

And you're WAY off with the history. My advice to you would be to get the very old, back issue of Ebony that talks about the very thing that you know nothing about....the origins of college majorettes and dancers. Check it out. You might learn something.

There was another college danceline that danced under the name 'Dancin Dolls". If you're as knowledgeable as you seem to think you are, then you should know. What college am i referring to?.

You Louisiana people tickle. Such a petty culture of people. You said the Southern Belles were the 1st, but fall short on proof. Well since we're talking about 1st's, i was the 1st person to ever catch a Leprechaun. Now do you see how silly you sound?.
