it's been almost a year since I last sat down and record a reaction, I can't really believe it 🤯 I'm so excited that I finally had a little window in my apprentice finals and felt the urge and need to react, record and meme something together!
I think it's great that you react to a German TV show. Plus we see that you are exited about it so this is the most important thing for us - to make content that makes you happy and excited. Low key I watched a guilty please of mine ( To hot to handle - The German version) and it was really nice hearing German (not a German speaker here). If there are other German shoes you really like - you can definetly introduce us to them. I love tk watch inrenatuonal TV shows because they show more or less the different cultures of the represented countries. I love this content as well because we see your German side even more ❤️
It’s very interesting seeing an actual German watching the show I’ve mostly seen Americans react to this on RUclips so it’s a nice change. I definitely learned a few things from this video. I hope to see the remaining few episodes!
The whole video I was trying to figure out where I know that main guy from - it’s that himbo from “how to sell drugs online (fast)” Netflix show - really recommended it btw - whew now I can relax
so glad someone has also hyperfixated on harriet!! while we all love damian's acting, i really feel like harriet is such a strong ruby huhu hope you do part 2 as well!
This is my fave reaction! You are so funny and editing is chaotic and hilarious. The German/deutsch insight is so great. I hope your finals are going well and you have time to post Part 2 soon. 😊
You're the third reactor I've watched and you're the only one who has appreciated the music as much as me! You English very good and thanks for adding the additional Deutsch translations.
The „I doubt it“ meme took me out, i didn’t expect it 💀 my first association regarding lacrosse was actually teen wolf (and I’m convinced mona Kasten chose it bc of that) but of course, wild child! Even better
Thanks for sharing your perspective of this awesome show as well as you mentioning that they're going to have S2...yeah! Damian & Harriet did an amazing job of playing their characters as well as the other actors. Did binged watched it the 1st time & hope it'll have more than 6 episodes in S2.
these type of shows or movies are very cringe for me nowadays, but this one really made me laugh and giggle which I wasn’t expecting 😂 the chemistry is fckng amazing and I loveeeed your reaction… hope you do the rest of the series 🫶🏼
is it predictable? -yes. are there a few cringey moments? - for sure. But for the most part it’s well done and executed, especially considering it’s a german show. so I’m satisfied. I had so much fun editing this - the remaining episodes are definitely high on my priority list right now!
This was a fun video. And getting a chance to better understand a show in a different language is a fun experience. By the way, the expression I guess the second episode's title corresponds to in English is "noblesse oblidge" (sp?), which actually is borrowed from French, and represents the idea that nobility comes with responsibilities (usually referring to a responsibility to help those of lesser birth).
thanks for pointing that out! I’ve never heard that before! 🫢 I didn’t feel the need to look up what they actually translated the episode titles to, because my spontaneous translations should be sufficient enough or at least understandable enough to get the gist of it. you made me curious enough to look it up and turns out it’s exactly what you were referring to. apparently we use the german words, but also the French words for it and it refers to the social responsibilities nobles had/have. 🤯 I didn’t know any of that! so thanks for the history lesson! 👏🏼🫶
so happy to find your channel! I have rewatched the show 3 times now, and now I am loving watching other people react for the first time. Plus your humor and use of memes is amazing! *chefs kiss* 🥰
Thank you so much for this. This is exactly the video I have been looking for. I watched in German with English subtitles but my German is not good enough to know when the translation isn't quite right... for instance, I have read that the translation that comes later of the word 'boytoy' is incorrect etc :D So I'm really looking forward to you watching the whole series and getting your insights. You've basically had all the same reactions that I did - and I was also very pleasantly surprised by this show because it is so trope laden - but done so well!!!
Hahaha, I also thought about "Wild Child" when they first played Lacrosse :D very funny reaction!! :) Someone mentioned already that they kind of explain her relationship to her teacher by her confiding in James but I really got it after reading the books (after I finished watching the show). One part that stuck out to me was, that the teacher is around 25ish in the books which is not that big of an age difference. But the actor is 32 and that's kind of meeehh imo. Minor spoiler to explain even further without telling what will happen: They met online (anonymously) when he was just studying to be a teacher in Oxford and Lydia just got out of a relationship with a guy who tricked her and caused that massive scandal her dad cannot get over. She felt seen and accepted for who she was and not because of her name. They fell in love long before they first met in person. And then he got a job at Maxton Hall... he should have just rejected it or locked the door, but then we wouldn't have a story :D maybe this information helps getting over the next events ;)
I love seeing this review from you! I would love to hear more interludes about what culture is like in germany and if the scenarios make sense from a cultural perspective.
hmmmm I think that's hard to do, considering the author intentionally set the story in england. unfortunately there's not really a lot of german culture in here except for the language and the actors lol.
I love watching people react to this show, it's my new obsession, in my country there are shows with a similar concept but it always is done poorly in my opinion and feels childish, I'm Chinese btw
They will explain how Lydia and the teacher met each other and why they were in a relationship. Even though I still think it's highly inappropriate for that relationship to continue it actually made it a little bit less yucky.
Pattyyyy...... I missed you! Your content and personality and jokes are just so irreplaceable! When you said that if you saw a hige poster of yourself in school like that you were going... I dropped dead on the ground almost breaking my dishwasher hahahahahahahha It is really nice to see you again making content and watching stuff. Missed it! ❤ Also #byelingual
really glad to see patty actually enjoying a show’s production as someone who discovered this channel from legacie’s crack react 🫠 also as a fellow #byelingual reading english subtitles on everything is basically second nature to me so I do accidentally know how good germans shows can be as for the memes selection *chef kiss*
I always love your reactions. I missed you but I know your schooling is very important. I’ve been to Germany several times and I love the country. The star of Maxton Hall, Harriet Herbig-Matten I understand she speaks several languages well including English. Your English is perfect. I would have said you were born in the USA 🇺🇸 because it is perfect. I’m glad you’re back and hopefully you’ll post again soon. Good luck with your studies.
oh it’s kinda an inside joke between my audience and me. I’m very good at predicting things and picking up on foreshadowing. I’m also very good at clocking gay characters 😅 it was a whole thing with my yellowjackets reactions and a character on that show (coach ben)
it’s called high society, babies switched at birth, one grew up rich the other one poor, but then they get switched to their rightful parents and suddenly have to adjust to the other’s lifestyle.
If we’re hoing there today, but we're going to uae thess stereotypes. Someone please explain to me the dad's rational ia thinking lacrosse is a girl's game, but fashion isn't? Beaufort is a fashion company, and it's still seen as something "women do". Thats dad is so snobbish acting like he is aritocratic talking about queens and empires. The second-hand embrassment.🤮
I would recommend “Dark” (Sci-Fi) and “HTSDOF” (Damian Hardung is in it, RUclips doesn’t let me write the full name of the show) - they’re both on Netflix
DARK on Netflix. one of the best written shows of the last 10 years internationally and easly the best show germany ever produced. people uses to compare it with Stranger Things because of the way both shows are starting. but at the end of the day they are different shows.

This show is an excellent example for the fact that it is no problem to do cliche tropes if you do it right

i love how you enjoy yourself and getting giddy over the characters 😭

Dan was called James in Drug and now he is😂
I’m one of those dumb Americans that is obsessed with the show. Thank you for providing more cultural/linguistic insight it’s really interesting!
it's always good seeing something from your country succeed, believe me i'm brazilian, we are the worst patriots
I'm so glad you mentioned that Ruby Bell was an English name. It sounded so off in their mouths - like they were speaking it in English and to German
so glad someone has also hyperfixated on harriet!! while we all love damian's acting, i really feel like harriet is such a strong ruby huhu hope you do part 2 as well!

I love that you recognized the house from the high society movie😂 cause same girl
Ok but I absolutely love your video and commentary, hahaha. I'm Dutch, and I also immediately recognised the father's Dutch accent 😂😂😂😂.
