This is a very easy fix for this common problem and I will show you how in disk management. its a simple case of deleting the volume and make the whole drive unalocated space and the create a new volume.

TY. Have a 2tb Seagate which was showing 32gb capacity. I needed at least a 1tb drive and thought I'd have to go buy a new drive but thanks to your video I don't have to. After following your instructions my drive is now showing the correct capacity.

If you have data on the drive you don't want to loose, just resize the 32 GB volume to include all the remaining space. There should really be no need to delete the volume first.
I did not need any data, but if you do you can extend

My issue is that my computer has a 256 gb ssd that is very full, so I bought a 1 tb ssd and migrated the OS and all software from my original ssd to my 1 tb ssd using aomei backerupper. Then I disengaged my original ssd in bios, and selected my new ssd as the primary boot with the OS (I'm a novice at best with this computer stuff). So, now my new 1tb ssd shows that its volume is similar to my original ssd card of 256 gb with very little volume remaining (similar to my original ssd) although it is actually a 1 tb ssd with less than 1/4 used. If I delete the volume that you've shown in this video, then I'd have to re-migrate the ssd data all over again/start over. Is there another way to fix it? Or is it just there but not showing up on properties? And I also want to change my new ssd OS "G:" drive letter to "C:" so its like it should be as the primary boot/OS drive. Do you have solutions to these two issues? Thanks,
Worked like a charm, after checking video it was 2min task to perform and now SSD looks like it should. I used Windows own disk management for this. Thank you SIR!
what happens if you do this to the c drive will everything included the OS be wiped? do a need to format the whole pc after that of will the os and all programs stay on the c drive cuse a have a 256 gig SSD c drive that only comes up as like 94 and i have like 144 unallocated space. so can i preform this on the c drive or will that delete everything including the OS on it?

Is this the same with the SSD drive. I just bought a gaming laptop with a SSD 256gb and a 1TB HDD. My 1TB is only missing 70gb and I guess it's due to software but my SSD drive is only showing 118gb so half. So does this work for that and what about my files in the ssd drive. Can I just copy them onto the hdd drive then do what you showed and just move them back after the process is done?

That was so easy. I lost all my movies and tv shows that I had on this 2tb hard drive when I needed to create a recovery usb for windows 10. Unfortunately I did not know it would wipe out all my data and replace it with said recovery tool. There is some soft ware that you can download to recover the lost files but I believe most of those services cost money so if it is that important to you I would highly recommend downloading one of those services.

Hey i kind of have the same issue. My 2 terabyte hard isnt the main one ive tried reseting windows and there is now "2 hard drives" i dont have another one in my pc but idk what to do here

This is a long shot but hoping you can help.
I installed a copy of windows 10 for a friend on to my SSD. It changed the format as you showed in this video. I was able to use this trouble shoot to reclaim my SSD but it DELETED ALL MY FILES. I did not create a back up before installing the windows ten. Am I sh*t out of luck or is there a way to recover the images I had on my SSD before the windows download.

All the other freaking guides on the internet gives you like 14 steps to re-format your drive, and it still doesn't work.
This was so simple! just delete 'blahblah' and viola it's back to 1TB.

i have a 2 tb samsung 870 qvo and a new pny nvme ssd both of them work and all but my pny ssd on the box says 1tb and i only can use 930 also the samsung says 2tb on the box but it only gives me 1830gb is there any way to fix this?

I encountered this problem after downloading windows OS in my 1tb seagate. All my files save there has been hidden/or maybe gone and is only showing me the 32gb out of 1tb. How do i recover those files?
hey uhm. i don't like bringing bad news, but I did the exact same thing on the exact same drive, and turns out, with no warning, installing the windows OS tool on a drive deletes all the files located on it previously... so yeah I lost all those pictures and you prob lost all your files too, sorry for you

is this possible in my C drive? i have a 256 gb ssd but only 116gb is showing in my laptop
If i delete the volume on the ssd does it also affect my software apps or files?
thanks that worked. i also noticed my main C drive should be 1300MB only 110 is set NTFS the other 3 are listed as Healthy (Recovery). i cannot delete those. any ideas

I need help, im buying a new laptop so i took out my ssd to use it as an external drive for now. i had it as a boot drive in my old laptop and now whenever i plug it into a computer it only shows as system reserve with 512 mb When it was originally 128gb. Sorry for my bad english :(

This is wonderful, very helpful. I've tried all of these options. The Problem is. Even with the partition tool program, I cannot Delete or Format the disk without Administrator access. On every computer I've tried this on from Vista to windows 10. I'm very CMD Illiterate and can't quite gain Administrator aces using that either. For my own computers or friends I'm trying to help.
