To use your default card, double-click the side button, then glance at your iPhone to authenticate with Face ID, or enter your passcode.

Not likely. Vending machines like that and at my work have a max pay limit to before you'd have to swipe your card/apply pay again.
So say that vending machine sells water: $1 a pop. I slide my card and it says like the video: $6. That means I can buy up to 6 waters. If I buy 5 waters I'd have to hit cancel or let the timer run out before it ends the transaction. After buying 6 waters it will automatically end the transaction instead of me having to hit cancel. If I wanted to buy 7+ waters I'd get the 6, the machine ends the order, I swipe my card again to buy the 7th.
Its a nice safety feature if say you are in a hurry and buy a water and run but forget to hit cancel. Then someone quickly comes up and spends more of your money. They can only buy 5 more before it automatically ends the transaction instead of them buying out the whole vending machine.

I’ve never seen this happen at cash registers and self checkout terminals, and I’ve been using Apple Pay since 2014, so this weird occurrence has more to do with the vending machine then Apple Pay itself.

Correct! I use machines that use all sorts of scanning technology, including NFC. I have to make sure that when texting, I have to keep the phone away from the machines. Otherwise, the wallet opens automatically.

Lol of course it will, you don’t have to remove any case no matter how thick…. it will pick up your phone a foot away! Also you just have to pull your phone out and double tap the home button and it will pull up your card ready to pay instantly!!

Hello and thanks for the video tutorial. Instead of having to open up the apple wallet, is it not possible to scan the phone over the pay/card machine and it recognises Apple Pay once face recognition has been scanned? I ask as I’ve jut purchased an iPhone 12 Pro.

No. The transaction behaves in the same manner as you would with swiping a debit or credit card. If it’s a self checkout terminal you’d walk up to the register, scan the item, hit “done” or “pay” on the register screen, choose the method of payment in this example would be a credit or debit card, it then prompts you to follow the prompts on the payment terminal which would be to tap swipe or insert, then you use Apple Pay, (if it’s a debit card it may prompt you to enter your PIN), then the transaction is done and receipt is printed, and you’re done and the register resets for the next customer.

So you cannot use Apple Cash. You have to use a card from a bank. Calling it Apple Pay is misleading since any company can have me upload a card and do the transaction. My bank, Visa or whomever.
I have a master card but the master card isn’t supported wallet & Apple Pay 😢 .

You can use Apple Cash to make purchases just like you would with a credit or debit card when using Apple Pay.

Very good tutorial. Android veteran here who finally gave in to the pressure. I paid $60 bucks for my iPhone 7. Bought it from a trusted friend who barely used it. Super chuffed it still looks new. Looks like the forbidden 🍏 has had it's effect I've already begun transferring nearly all my data from Android to Apple. Still keeping my Android for backup.

How is the deal with a debit card? Someone know? Because I tried today and just approached my phone to the terminal and nothing happened...
It’s the same procedure as if using a credit card, only the payment terminal may prompt you to choose credit or debit on the screen. If you choose debit it may then prompt you to enter the debit card PIN.
What you’re describing sounds like either the terminal doesn’t support or accept contactless transactions.

I was at a college bar with a German friend that didn’t understand English very well in a loud bar. He suggested we get drinks, and I paid with cash, and at the same time he ordered the drinks with Apple Pay. Once we realized what happened I tried to tell one of the bar tenders, they just ignored me, since there were droves of college kids waving their credit cards at them. Anyway my question is how could he ( my friend ) have cancelled the transaction for the drinks after he made the purchase?

If someone sends you money through iMessage to your Apple Cash card, then yes you can use it to make purchases in Apple Pay, but only up to that amount.

Thanks yes I went to 6 flags in June 2021 with my Ex and I didn’t k ow they didn’t take cash🤦🏽♀️ but thank god I had a cash from my dude and went to the atm to add cash to a 6flags debit card.
