he is evil but follows what he percieves as honorable - he has no problem with cruelty or killing - but he dispenes it from the position of both strength an yes honor as twisted as it is that is how he works. So when courier said he want to kill him but at his fulliest without trickery (because it would rob him of honor in battle by killing already weakened thus unworthy opponent - thus depriving himself of a full glory of the said win) he striked very important aspects of Lanius psyche. that kind of argument vvibed very strong in lanius as he despised trickery and he cant bear the thought of loosing the battle because he was underminded by trickery beforehand in his own ranks (true or false in his mindset both are intolerable). basically he goated lanius into retreat by mentionig he is literally unworthy adversary to fight because he can't even keep his own "house" in order.
This is an example of a "lawful evil" character. Lanius lives and dies by his code of ethics and honor. People often confuse "lawful" with "following the law of the land". It means they live by a strict moral code.
it doesn't matter, with Caesar dead the legion will be destroying itself by the time he reaches his ranks and executes them for treason, then when he reunites forces they won't be but a tenth the number they used to be, when he finally reaches the dam, if he at all comes back, i'll have my rocket launching robot army, yes man, the chairmen, the omertas, the white glove society, the kings and some citizens from new vegas, well mercenaries, waiting for him in a followers of the apocalypse run fully operational dam
Only if you don’t kill Caesar. If the Legion doesn’t take Hoover Dam after Caesar dies, it disintegrates without his leadership. Talking Lanius down accomplishes a bloodless victory, saving the lives of many NCR and Vegas citizens.
[Speech 90] No. By that time, Caesar will be dead, the Legion will be in shambles, and more importantly, with the Courier's help, the NCR's presence in the Mojave will have been cemented. They will be organized, powerful -- and the Legion will be weaker. I suspect the NCR would trample the Legion in the Third Battle of Hoover Dam.
If he comes back having subdued the traitors in the east, he'll have fewer men ( battle, heat, disease), Caesar will be closer to death ( in this playthrough it seems Caesar is stil lalive) and thus the Legion to falling apart, the NCR will have had time to deal with out House, the Khans, vipers jackals, powder gangers, etc and every day that passes the NCR gets more use out of hoover dam and Helios one allowing them to build more strength. If the player has dealt with th deathclaws the NCR can get back to building bunkers and railways. Plus the NCR can take the time to train and equip their troopers properly now. Given Caesar's frailty and the inability of the legion to get more slaves( economy) without taking more lands I'd say time plays in favour of the NCR esprcially if they have made friends with the boomers and can reverse engineer House's bots.
Id like to imagine Ulysses wasnt a companion and just showed up there at the end.
Well now that THAT's done wi-
"Bear and the Bull! Bull and the Bear!"
Ulysses was so badass for that last line
He's right.
Fox boy would be so much more convincing without that goofy dog fur hat.
Fox boy was never convincing.
Furry boy always convincing

It is strange character, he is evil, but respect characters players with good karma.

Honestly surprising that lanius is wiser than the legion make him out to be
It this the Ulysses companion mod on nexus ?
I want to know the same. Twice I played this game. The second time VERY thoroughly, and yet I never met this Ulysses guy...
@@theuncomfortabletruth3928 Have you play the DLC ?
@@hothanhson6525 I played all DLC's the second time I played the game.
@@theuncomfortabletruth3928 Then how the hell you not met him he literally the final boss of lonesome road
@@hothanhson6525 For your answer yes it is a mod i can give you the link if you want (btw ulysses was going to be a companion but it was cut)
I never liked opting for speech, since all you're doing is postponing the inevitable. He'll be back, and when he does, it'll be way worse.
Well if he leaves the dam through words most likely he will be killed for incompetence like graham almost was, especially if Cesar lives
