Converting a vector layer to a shape is super helpful, I had no idea. Thank you!

Great instruction, very easy. Just wondering if there's a way to make the edge/side of the extrude a different color?

I honestly haven't r tried that but you might with the upcoming AE version which supports real 3D objects. 😀👋

this is great but could you tell me how once i have imported each of the layers as separate shape layers, how to group them all as one group or one object so that i can edit them all together, ie. make them 3d, edit the bevel, add extrusion, add different animations to them all at once, and not have to do it separately for each piece and each layer?
    thank you

Do that inside Illustrator, maybe use the Unite Boolean operation inside the Pathfinder window. The less the better for your work and less layers to deal with . Hope this helps. 😀

@@steviesmith5161 Anytime, I hope you create some nice shapes. Don’t forget animating the scene with multiple nulls. 😀🙏

oh my gosh thank you so much! that tip worked! i used the unite tool with an option click and expand, and it worked! i get the whole shape to import into ae and when i chose to create-create shape from vector layer; it expanded to just one layer! the whole object was connected and it was really easy to edit it as one and make it 3d! thank you for the quick reply and for the help!@@EliasSarantopoulos

Is there a simple way to make each object on a separate layer In illustrator

    • @EliasSarantopoulos

Yes there is. I have a video on that from AI to AE, have a look and see if that works for you. Thank you 😀👋
