    People aften say Alien, The Thing and Predator are similar. And you'll want to do the Verhoeven sci fi trilogy.

    You might not have heard it but at the end when Ripley is breathlessly preparing to harpoon the alien out of the shuttle's airlock, she starts singing "Lucky Star", a song sung by Debbie Reynolds in "Singin' In The Rain". This was an ad lib by Sigourney Weaver and Fox had to pay a boat load of money for the rights to have her sing it in that scene. Cut ahead forty five years and the latest "Alien Romulus" trailer has the song "Lucky Star" playing mournfully in the background. AWESOME call back.

    Hey Ryan, the reaction was great. Alien is one of my favorite classic horror films. If you love recommendations I've three for you. One is the 1990 film" The witches" with Angelica Houston, another is a very unique horror film called Deadly Manor also an early 90's film. This one will have you wondering if this is a slasher, supernatural, vampire, ghost, or witch situation. wont say what the outcome is but it was a fun horror. The third film is not a horror but more like a revenge film called She devil with Meril Streep and Roseanne Barr.

    I have watched loads of reactions to this film as it's my favourite film of all time. One thing that always amazes me is how fast everyone forgets that this thing bleeds acid. One tiny nick on the facehuggers finger nearly burned through all three decks of the ship. If they shoot it they will be guaranteed to hull the ship and they all die.

    Jones, also referred as Jonesy, was a cat kept aboard the USCSS Nostromo as Ellen Ripley's pet. While the cat's official purpose was to control rodents aboard the ship, he also served as a source of relaxation and entertainment for the crew like a theory animal. So, this was the reason why a cat was brought into outer space.

  • @KingXenos
    @KingXenos 2 месяца назад +1

    Yes. Its's not shown well in the movie because its hard to judge where you are on the ship at any given time. But yeah the corridor the Alien was in was the only way to get the shuttle. The novelisation explains its self a lot better. Plus you get all the deleted scenes as well that didn't make it to the movie.

    • @SofaSloths
      @SofaSloths  2 месяца назад +2

      Yep I got a little lost at that bit, but if anything it helped add to the disorientation of trying to get a way!! I will have to check out the novel it sounds great!!! 😁

    H R Giger was the artist behind "the Alien" creature. It was inspired by nightmares that he would sketch out upon waking.
    Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
    AND YOU THINK THIS IS JUST A MOVIE ?
    Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
    2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
    3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
    4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
    5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
    REMEMBER THE SCENE WITH DALLAS SAYING "KILL ME"?
    6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
    7 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
    8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
    9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
    10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
    11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

    Hey, Ryan! I always like finding new reactions to _Alien_ and I hope this doesn't sound weird/wrong, but previous to yours I got to watch this one that was very disappointing in many aspects, so your reaction turned out like a brilliant and fresh antidote altogether!
    Your editing was amazing (especially given this being your first upload), your narration and commentary excellent timewise and the faces you made during scary scenes looked very apt and genuine, haha. My favorite part has to be the reaction you made during the confrontation with Ash while your best line was either _Burn the room down._ or _Ok, we've got the cat. Let's bail._ , haha. I also chuckled at how many times you thought rampant pyromania is the real solution to everything and no, you are not crazy, the film really still looks great 40+ years later!
    Looking forward to checking out that _Aliens_ reaction, maybe later in the day.

    "Alien": A youngster is boarding the "Nostromo." What will he make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-CGI" movie? 2:38 The Company is sending the equivalent of a freighter crew to "do science" on an unexplored planet! 5:07 We never see what kind of weapons are on the "Nostromo." 6:44 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 7:39 How's THAT for a jump scare? 7:58 The Face Hugger, grossing out audiences for years. 8:55 Acid Blood is why they don't "just cut it off him." 10:35 A Props dept. work of ART. made of sea animals. 11:50 Kane's last meal. 12:12 The Xenomorph, scaring audiences for over 40 years. 13:18 Along came Jones. 14:36 Say hello to Bolaji Badejo. 15:45 How's that for a "syntax error" message? 16:36 You're in command, Ripley. 17:50 In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 18:47 Most didn't see this coming. 21:04 I've read that Lambert is standing in for us, the audience. 21:39 That's a Stinger. 22:16 Escape route cut off, stop Destruct to gain time for Plan B. 25:26 Tonight's entree on the shuttle "Narcissus" is Steamed Xenomorph in Shell. 25:58 Correction, Char-Broiled Xenomorph. This and the next movie made newcomer Sigourney Weaver a major movie star. With Linda Hamilton of "The Terminator" (1984), they became Action movie Badasses. "Jennifer Lawrence"? Who is that? On to "Aliens" (1986)!

    If you want more of a SciFi Horror then "Event Horizon" definitely more horror 😉

    The Matrix
    Blade Runner
    Exmachina

    Why do they stay so calm when they see the Space Jockey in the alien ship? I think of it like this: Imagine you're a deep-sea diver, and suddenly an aquatic life form you've never seen before-- an oarfish, say--- swims into view. If you freak out, you risk wasting oxygen and messing up your equipment. You could die. The same thing would apply, I think, to Dallas, Kane, and Lambert lumbering around the alien planet and ship: if you puncture your suit or damage your air supply, you're dead.
    As for the computer graphics looking "dated": the systems don't have to be pretty on a tow truck in space. They just have to work.😉
