funny how ive watched about 5 different youtube users videos on tutorials and logo designing and text artistry, yet i always come back to this one for the simple things i need to know that the "INTRO TO ILLUSTRATOR" videos cant provide. cant figure out why the "outline stroke" wont work for me on the R, everytime I use the shape builder tool to delete the stroke i dont want, it deletes the whole stroke...

Hey Mike, around 4:58 minutes in, how do you manage to align the two rectangle objects so precisely? I went to PREFERENCES and changed the setting to pt and mm, but neither of them did the trick for me.
im curious how would you do something like this for the letters HDS...... i tried imaging it like you worked on this one... but im braindead

Hello. And thank you for your tutorial. I have a question.... At minute 4.59, when i place the other shape above the first one, it goes way to the left or way to the right, but it it doesn't get exactly over the first one. Should i set something ?

is it good to add design/creative at the end of your brand
name. I hear mixed answers on this. Some people say add when starting
off others says don't add it. As a graphic designer I currently I have
design at the end of my unique name. It's been running for 1 year now
but don't know if i should remove to make it shorter. Your advice would

I like most of your tutorial, really help me a lot.... Its just not newbie frendly
Dunno if someone had already pointed this out, but there's actually an easier way to smoothen(?) the edges like those on the last step. I found this by coincidence, there's this tool right below the Move Tool on the Toolbar that looks exactly like Move Tool, but colored white. To use it, click the tool then click on the logo. You will see the path highlighted and on the edges/corners, you will notice there are white dots inside. You can drag those dots to give the corners radius.
P.S I'm using AI CC so idk if it works the same way on other versions. And sorry I can't describe it any better because English isn't my mother-tongue
hello, when it using shape builder tool. and i want to remove the small circle in the middle pressing alt+del. why the both circle is deleted? is there any setting that i must change ? and i already put my cursor in the small circle.

when i have more than one thing selected and i try to delete a shape out of the many shapes selected even though it shows the undesired shape highlited from the shape builder tool it deletes all selected objects

I used same method and I wanted to apply gradient to it.
So, When I choose "Compound path" Its messing up whole design.
Any other ways to apply single gradient on these objects?

awesome vid man I can't do the R trick thing I select shaper tool and select both circles and hold alt and left click nothing happen I'm using windows 10 and the latest AI
but let's say i want a writing logo with other writing,do i use photoshop that has the fonts or can it be done in illustrator to?

i want a 60px(H) × 150px(w) logo....to print in bill...but if i do that small the logo gets pixelated.....how to solve this issue...in illustrator or in photoshop....plz tell me..both the method..

Want to start off by saying great video!!! Learned a lot from it... Thank You! But I have a problem... I can't seem to be able to delete the middle circle for the "R" at the beginning of the video. I've tried every possible way that I can think of but it's not working. Can you please explain here to me, step-by-step if possible, how to do it?? It would be of much help and appreciated.

What you want to do is highlight both the circles of the 'R' click on the shape builder tool and hover above the middle circle, hold 'alt and left click.

Holding alt while deleting the center cirlce did not work. It deleted the other circle. What am I doing wrong? 2:44 in.
