This is a fun series! I would definitely be interested in seeing more. It's fun seeing you style a man. I, too, have a partner who does not shop. I have a theory that he feels more uncomfy doing slightly more upscale things because he doesn't have the wardrobe for it (eg. nicer dinners out with friends bc he doesn't have anything in between a t-shirt and a starched button down. Curious what your fiance will choose for his warm weather date night outfits!)
Congrats on your engagement! As a male fan, I enjoyed this video. The white sweater looked good on him - I feel it's an underrated staple of the male wardrobe, always hits.
i loved the clarifying questions you asked whenever he didn’t like a piece. helps you get closer to what you like and want/need versus what doesn’t work. you’re inspiring me to go through my closet finally lol
I'm trying to help my husband upgrade his non-work wardrobe and this was so helpful! Little things like noticing what kind of stores they're more comfortable in, and so more likely to relax and try something on. But also big things like, the actual steps. Would love to see more of this process- thank you 😃👍
loved the video. found it so refreshing how much thought and honestly planning went/is going into the process. even seeing uncertainty onscreen is so refreshing haha! just like me frrr. anyway the stores were really cool and i thought the strategy of getting a lay of the land and then going back and buying/buying online is clever. congrats on the engagement!!
Looking forward to this series! You can tell Brendan I was in the same boat as him a couple years ago. My wife and I were dressing up to go to a dinner so I put on a nice polo and dress pants. She said "isn't that what you wear to work in the office?", and at that moment I realized that my wardrobe only had two modes - at home leisure and work attire, nothing in-between. I did something similar to you guys, I tried on every piece of clothing in my closet, kept the things that fit the way I liked or were my "style", and got rid of everything I didn't like or was iffy on. Started almost fresh, picking up items that could match multiple other things in my closet so I could start mixing and matching my pieces based on occasion, weather, and vibe of the outfit!
As someone who’s been a fan of both yours and Brendon’s content obliviously independently for some time, my draw dropped when I joined the dots with this video. Power couple 👏
really enjoyed this video. I loved how you were really nice and supportive and never said "get rid of this/keep that" you just helped guide the process. At the same time personally I would prefer the ""get rid of this/keep that" in my own life. I am usually just deciding between a few things so hearing really strong opinions about color for example is what I need. please continue this series.
You ask really good questions! I feel like you could do a whole thing on listing out all the questions you should ask yourself if you're trying to do this. You could tell your bf didn't know what to say to some of them because they are hard to answer if you have never thought about it that way before. Also seems like a really good way to curb impulse buying: ask all the questions about the thing you are considering
Excited to see the follow-up video! Hope your partner wasn't too discouraged by the 18 east store experience, all I can say the customer service is hit or miss when I've been in there. Love their clothes and fabrics, however. Their prices is are pretty fair considering the quality and construction when compared to similarly priced brands.
This is great! Love seeing which particular stores you think are interesting in NY (even if u don't normally buy clothes new) as it's a bit overwhelming to find things there
Really love the shopping trip vlog and working through the closet with him. As a man who is only recently into fashion, going through clothes can be really daunting!
Standard and Strange is mostly known for their Japanese denim, Kapital selection, and collaborations with brands such as clinch boots. They have great curation.
This is so helpful! The questions you asked were great. I need to get a new wardrobe. I gained a lot of weight during the pandemic and getting new clothes that actually fits has really helped make me feel more comfortable at my new weight
the girlfriend effect in action. just about anything from standard and strange would be such an upgrade and the staff is top tier, I hope you visit again.
woah dope series!! do you have any more store recommendations in ny for the city boy look, Pants are the only thing i know from 18east and its pretty top notch quality at least the twill ones
10:10 I've had online orders cancelled by the folks at 18east before. When I inquired why, I was just told "inventory discrepancy". They are clearly not interested on offering any kind of customer service, online or in person. It's like they're doing you a favor by even talking with you.
I follow you for menswear so this is great. Next time can you take one of your male fans instead of Brendon, who seems like he has a healthy detachment from fashion instead of an empty hole he's trying to fill with beautiful japanese clothes
The people at Eighteen East are ALWAYS so snooty. It's so annoying... Also great shopping tour of the lower east side / orchard street. You hit all my favorites.
if a women doesn't have the same taste in fashion as me and she tells me what to wear? she's done. i'm out. but if she were supportive and nice and does what you are doing for him now. more power.

He looks so sick in the white jumper!! I've tried blue jeans so many times but they just don't work for some of us I feel. This video was great!!
