Nice video compilatioin of Metra's F59PHIs, Andrew! Thank you for taking the time to go through your archived videos and finding the sequencies of the F59PHIs. This must have been a time consuming job. Thank you for uploading this video for us to enjoy!
Really digging the black and red updated Metra scheme as well as the other Heritage styled ones. Glad to see some still retain their original Surfliner scheme. The distinct sound of the K5LA horn from the 90's is just absolutely gorgeous too! Would love to see a video dedicated just to the original F59PH engines as those are one of my favorite engines ever made.
Great video of the F59PHI engines of Metra probably the most common that takes a spotlight of this video are the engines painted in the scheme paying homage to Amtrak's Pacific surfliner Silver and Blue livery
Am I the only one who like the old Surfliner livery with Metra written in place of Amtrak? I actually think all the F59's should be in that livery! It goes nicely with the plain silver/chrome finished gallery cars. The only weird part is how odd they look without that piece covering their fuel tanks. At least the one's that have sort of rusted looking tanks.
What are some good locations for the UP lines? There's a lot of great locations shown, but I would like to know the name of them. It'd be great if you could provide some of the places in the vid!
There will be a future video where we capture various Metra Commuter Trains on the Union Pacific Lines. We will be sure to include locations in that video. Stay tuned! -Andrew Mangalindan

Good news Amtrak Captiol Corridor's f59phi still service
Awesome video, Andrew! Good to see the F59phi’s! See you along the tracks!
Thank you!
@@ATrain4014 No problem!
You've got to love a Metra locomotive painted with Chicago and Northwestern logo and color scheme.

Metra got the engines from Amtrak but have not repainted them yet.
@@carvcom1 90 is repainted.

I love the deep throaty thrumble of these engines - reminds me of SD40-2's sound!
Cool New Paint Job.
The bell makes me feel like I’m going to ride an Amtrak

You aren’t wrong about the Surfliner paint scheme, for sure.
Fun fact: those EMD F59PHI's are not purchased by metra.
Metra equipt all Amtrak's x16 units 5 from the Pacific Surfliner and 11 for the cascade's
hi cool video Andrew
Thank you!
@@ATrain4014 want to go railfanning? soon
Now if we had metra cars in the surfliner scheme, then that would be cool as we would have mixed liveries on trains
I wasn't able to join the premiere...
Nice
Thank you!
Nice Video
What's the deal with METX 78? I haven't seen it in service.
It’s receiving either an OLS, lightningbolt skim or the scrappers
Imagined Metra 79 and 90 together?
WOW
Nice! And where was the clip at 4:40 taken?
That is in Waukegan on the UPN line.
Why tomorrow instead of now?

Question: Is Metra F59PHI 78 in service?
Do the F59PHI's mainly work out of the north side of Union station? Or are they spread out across the lines?
The F59PHI locomotives can be seen on the Milwaukee Lines, North Central Service, and the Union Pacific Lines.
@@ATrain4014 cheers for the information. I’m in Chicago in April and only managed to be pulled by 4 out of the 20 around LA
