    I watched this from my workplace cafeteria on the day it was shown back in 1994! Best soap opera scene ever that featured a storm.

    You had to hand it to AMC during this time . . .it was a superb show. I think 1989 through 1994 were the highlight of the show existence. Which says alot because they had excellent stories in the early to mid-eighties as well.

    This was so powerful...I remember how on the edge of my seat I was on the day before this ( which I just watched ) and could not wait to see what would happen the next day! One of the best stories this show ever did as a whole for the entire town, and along with the stories in progress, such as Janet Green/Jane Cox and asking Kendall to keep her secret, and Adam going to jail and so on! 1994 was a stellar year for AMC!

    was one of AMC's best moments. The main thing I remembered about it was Julia's face getting scarred leading to her running away into Noah's arms. I also liked Janet and Kendall's scenes in this and the last episode.

      Ironically enough, they could afford it because this was taped in June 1994 just about a week after OJ Simpson and the white Bronco. All My Children was the No. 2 soap pulling in 6m viewers this particular year. The following year, thanks to the OJ trial, AMC dropped to 5th place and remained there for the rest of the 1990s.

      AMC and probably OLTL are still on today if not for the OJ trial.

    I'm kicking myself for stopping to watching AMC too soon in late 1993. This is where the classic soap opera was good in 1994 with the Pine valley tornado and Julia's scar she got with piece of falling ceiling!

Watching it now and I'm remembering characters I liked and characters I hated and I can't remember why I hated them. Except Laurel, definitely remember why I hated her, lol.

    After all these years and all I could think was why are ALL these bright people JUST STANDING AROUND LOOKING FOR IT! They can obviously hear it coming and no one heads for cover until Windows and doors are flying! OK, sure I know its TV and for drama, it's still funny to me! Thought that chandelier would never come down, LOL.

    I had quit watching AMC by this time, but this is pretty good. Though I can't get over how much much every character was too stupid and caught up in drama to take heed of the increasingly worse weather. Expect Ruth, and she was a ninny about it.

      A lot of fans think that McTavish's writing from 1992-1995 was only good due to Agnes Nixon being heavily involved, plus Felicia Minei Behr being a strong Executive Producer...I disagree with them since, as head writer, she still had a lot of influence over plotting and writing. If anything, Nixon was there to help guide McT's storytelling (but let McTavish come up with the storylines that played out onscreen), reject any bad story proposals from McT, and tinker with anything that needed improvement. Had she truly been super awful, there's no doubt McT wouldn't have lasted nearly three years as Head Writer.
      For 1997-1999, I'm inclined to believe McTavish stunk due to Jean Dadario Burke as EP...unlike Behr, Burke lacked a strong vision for the show. Interestingly enough, McT's material was fairly good in the early stages of this tenure, i.e. when Francesca James was stilll EP (James, like Behr, was a solid EP)
      2003-2007, it likely was a combination of Brian Frons (ABC President) micromanaging the Hell out of everything, a weak Executive Producer in Julie Hanan Carruthers, and McTavish likely just going hog wild with her crazy plotting (Felicia Minei Behr fired her in 1995 when it was clear McT's story ideas would catapult AMC into a horrific orbit. For 2003-2007, McT didn't have that kind of check/balance on her, considering how horrific Frons was and Carruthers was EP at a time when EPs at ABC soaps lacked as much influence on storytelling. For what little there was, it was clear Carruthers was sorely lacking on implementing quality storytelling). This may be an unpopular opinion but I liked about 70% of what McTavish did for the soap in this run...2003 and 2004 were very good to great years (at least the latter half of 2003. She wasn't head writer for the first half), 2005 was pretty good to good. The first two or so months of 2006 went well but then it stunk to high heaven: botched Dixie's return, lame Who Killed Greg Madden whodunit, other bad ideas and of course the biggest whopper: undoing Erica's landmark abortion story. Her material lasted through I think early May of 2007. Her stories in 2007 were an improvement over 2006 but not a significant amount.

      Her material on Guiding Light started out well and then turned into straight garbage afterwards. I never liked how she would throw certain characters under the bus.

      cajayson8301 In hindsight I think FMB firing of MMT in 1995 was a mistake. First of all she didn’t seem to think it out, because MT is gone in April and LB didnt takeover till September, the storylines that Spring and Summer seemed to just kinda meander and not really move, (I guess waiting for a permanent head writer) The tone was abruptly different, it went from this exciting (albeit melodramatic a bit at times) tone to kind of this boring realism....that I think was just too sudden. The timing was terrible, you had Marlena being possessed over at Days, and Cecily and Charlie doing this corny secret computer love thing over at AMC, which I’m sure caused people to opt to change the channel. The OJ thing was already eating into the ratings...and AMC fell from its #2 spot and NEVER recovered. Although when LB the stories and pacing IMO recovered, it didn’t seem that the people ever returned and the next year FMB was replaced. I honestly think she made a huge mistake firing MMT.

    • @andrewwikins4999
      @andrewwikins4999 3 года назад +2

      cajayson8301 actually I think 95 with the firing of MMT was the very beginning of a long drawn out end for AMC. It had its moments after but there was no rebound ever in the next 16 years.

    Before I watched all the episodes on here I only remembered Julia's moments after she got scarred. After watching early 94, I couldn't stand Julia (or the guys she was with like Terrance and Del WTF) but after this moment and leading to her meeting Noah *hearts* I still like her. I'm glad her character changed cause I coldn't stand her the first half of the year. She was really annoying and skanky. I don't remember Julia being like that, mainly remembered her with Noah. Anyway, the tornado

    I hated that she killed Trevor. I never got to see Trevor on a live show because I didn't start watching till 07. After watching all the old AMC's I've fallen in love with Uncle Porkchop and I wish that he could be brought back to life. If James K would sign up for the new AMC. I want David to do Project Orpheus on the frozen Uncle Porkchop.
