Thank you so much for bringing this program to RUclips. I watch ed this program every week along with Ground Force and couldn't be happier to see them available again. The BBC missed could have made a fortune on videos.
I wonder if the friends realized that it wasn't the designers choise of rooms themes but the friends. I loved the Australian room but not the other one at all.
The first one I’ve seen where the clients stated their honest opinions instead of politely trying to say nice things for the telly when it’s obvious it’s horrible and they hate it. Not that either of these were horrible for what they were. But the clients got the designers to do the rooms according to their own tastes instead of their friends’. It wasn’t the designers’ fault this time. The people should just switch houses. I guess they had to go and repaint each others’ rooms.
God looking back now, Laurence was a good sport. It's actually so unusual to hear these accents on British tv these days. Didn't realise how well spoken everyone was.
Caroline: I collect pub mirrors and I love them. If anybody touched them, I'd be distraught. Graham Wynne: So it's away with the pub mirrors... Jo: It is... LOL.
I liked the Australian theme. They have 5 children after all, why not make something fun for them. Having children's handprints on their walls is not at all disrespectful to anyone. They now have more storage and doors to hide clutter. The white dining room is an easy fix. Treat it as an art gallery. Bring in the pub mirrors and sell the hated water feature. Add shelves for victorian bric a brac with wallpaper backing to them. TFS
Didn't the daughter say something against white walls in the beginning? Just watched the beginning again and she did say something against white walls!! I've noticed on this show they often don't like the outcomes, or seems like it any way.
It’s such an obvious set up on the part of the producers when the designers in every episode feature the exact thing the homeowners have said they don’t want.
Haha love a bad reaction. Just out of interest, would you by any chance have the episode with the teapot disaster in full? Don't worry if you haven't or if you can't be bothered to put it up, I understand :P

I am a designer in the USA, so maybe I don't get British humour. You can't expect people to really live comfortably with eccentric paintings all over their walls. Hopefully you redecorate their homes if they can't live with your results. Otherwise, it's entertaining to watch.😉
The problem with the designers' aesthetic sensibilities was they stereotyped themes. In a way this was inevitable, given the lack of budget, these themes would always be crudely executed to some degree. But the aboriginal room is the height of cultural insensitivity. Aboriginal artwork is a spiritual practice, the handprints are historical ancestral communication modes. These motifs could have been more respectfully and naturally rendered with real artwork, and sculpture. If there wasn't a budget for this, then they should have not gone near this as a theme. The room reminded me of a primary school's display board, a juvenile interpretation of Aboriginal culture, which to make matters worse is re-classified as "Australian".
Each episode more and more convinces me that these designers are actually designer school rejects/flunkies. I could do a better job and I've spent the last 28 years giving enemas!!
I’ve got a feeling that nothing would have made either of these women happy anyway. Maybe if they spent more time saying what they DO like rather than what they hate then they might have got better results. Proves that negativity breeds disappointment! 😂
All these ppls places before are so awful. Is this normal in britain?? The make overs arent great but anything is better then those hell holes before. Its funny they would complain with what they had before
Yeah this was totally the 90s all over. My experience especially, my mum did a degree in design and went through our house decorating one room after the other kitchen/diner, living room, her bedroom, bathroom, spare room (leaving mine alone), when she finished, she started on the kitchen again!
I was so addicted to watching this show back in the ‘90s. .

Love,love,the show.
My favorite episode. I taped this show every day back in the olden days. Had a huge crush on Graham.
It was mainly Smillie and Barker for me. Anna R-R in the bronze medal position.
"It's the garden program; there's a water feature." "There's no Charlie Dimmock; there's just a water feature."
I'm so glad they both hated the rooms 😂😃😃
Who would want that awful noisy water feature thing in their living room. It sounds like a urinal.
Caroline: I collect pub mirrors and I love them. If anybody touched them, I'd be distraught.
Graham Wynne: So it's away with the pub mirrors...
Jo: It is...
LOL.
‘don’t try this at home…’ 😆😆😆
For a second there, I thought Laurence was Dr. Frank-N-Furter!

Well that was a great ending ,, cracked up laughing.
"It's Kylie Minogue on speed!"

Both rooms are terrible. But one of the more humorous episodes!
I love that although they all hated it, they were FUNNY about how they hated it. I would love to know how they rescued the rooms!
Has anyone got a link to the episode where they made furniture using the ladies dead pet dog ?
They made a lamp shade and a chair using its skin

I like the Australia one
It has nothing to do with Australia and is a really grotty attitude towards our indigenous population.

I'll try and check; I might. Somewhere I had some that were recorded off the CBC rather than BBCA.
I keep looking for that episode lol.
This is as much that I can find:~ruclips.net/video/Opb8iaslEjE/видео.html

I sometimes think they were switched around at the start and were actually decorating their own home, then reacting to each others "à la showbiz"
Brit here. I don't get it either. This show (LLB in particular) was notorious yet people were still apparently queuing up to appear on it.
That’s just Sad. Perk up guys!! You really both worked Hard. I don’t think you could have pleased these 4 people anyhow!! 🤷♀️ ✌️

I have a Southern Comfort Pub Mirror 😂
My favourite!
They need to switch rooms and it would be perfect lol
It was always thus
Each episode more and more convinces me that these designers are actually designer school rejects/flunkies. I could do a better job and I've spent the last 28 years giving enemas!!
Perhaps you should offer them one 😃 to purge them from this c..
That's not something you use as a metaphor...
I’ve got a feeling that nothing would have made either of these women happy anyway. Maybe if they spent more time saying what they DO like rather than what they hate then they might have got better results. Proves that negativity breeds disappointment! 😂
Hahaha!!! 😂
❤
Sound and picture don't line up and picture is so FUZZY it hurts my eyes to watch.
What is it with Brits and covering furniture with blankets?
It's cold here.
Rene' ~ Why NOT research that decor choice?
I'm watching these episodes and every before shot of every bedroom in the series looks like every hotel room I've stayed in the last three years.
7 people in one tiny house good grief.
It is NOT "one tiny house"; rather it is "one cozy home" = makes all the difference in the world, don't you know?
They switch houses before filming, then decorate their own, then react "badly" to their neighbours'
@@cricketsmith368 😂 OK then!! (Glad you cleared That up) 😂
23 year old daughter? looks like 32 to me
Is it just me or she looks a bit pregnant.
That designer is terrible not Laurance

What's wrong with British 90's/00's chic? :D

Replacing awful with awful is still awful. They were expecting a glow up, and they didn't get it.
