Isn't it maddening how perfect pop masterpieces like this just fell through the cracks when so much utterly cheesy crap in the 70's got huge? RIP Pete Ham, you were the real deal.
indeed, but now is even worse. there is 99% only crap made now that sells a lot. at least there was a moderately high amount of good stuff got big in the 70s.
This album was not actually released until 2000 (recorded in the mid-70's) due to Warner Bros suing the band and their crooked manager at the time. If it had come out, I really think this would have been a hit - it's a great song.
@@DD-px3ty I did know that, I guess I was just pointing out how much great music was recorded and crafted but for whatever reason wasn't either released or promoted properly by the record company or just had back luck or timing. I think if any band in rock history was a perfect example of that it was Badfinger.
Besides the glory of Pete's perfect singing, guitar & keyboard mastery, Tom's bass and their heavenly backing, listen to Mike's drumming as you soak this in. They were playing for their lives in December '74!
Now in the place of Badfinger (I was fired from a new job, and the manager was Stan Polley incarnate... the asshole had no reason to fire me, he did so to make an example to the others ("None of your jobs are safe either, I just fired this new guy and I can fire you too at any moment"))... as Pete Ham would say, soulless bastard... on top of that, the soulless bastard didn't even to bother to print all my unemployment papers, so I can't even get my unemployment benefits now... I need to resort to asking my parents for cash (something I never wanted to do as my bros always do so), I never wanted to ask my parents for cash as I don't want to be an additional burden on them, but now I have no choice (unless I can get a job within the next week or so)
@@thomascraymer8712 Hate to hear that, so sorry. Makes me think of how Joey managed to beat the odds with all he'd been through. I've been fired before too and found just enough luck to keep going. Keep believing.
If anything, Bob was a perfect replacement for Joey Molland who had just left the band.... Joey was great, but Bob had more balls, like Pete and Tom and the drummer
Wow...if I didn't know better I would have thought Paul McCartney was singing. This is so excellent. It has all that McCartney rock vinegar in his voice. The way Paul used to sing when he was a Beatle. I am so enjoying this song today. What a find!!!! OK, it's not Paul singing but this is close enough for me. Pete Ham...what a great singer.
Kicked out in a couple of weeks apparently. No Molland. Good. Shame Pete never smashed up Badfinger and started again with Tom based around Pete n Tom’s wringing and Pete’s guitar playing. They’d have done amazing things.

@@boychildnew1 That's what makes it fun to go back and unearth all the good stuff like this that doesn't get played to death on classic rock radio.

But tonight, little lover, lay me down... Pete was the real deal.... I wish my gf got that
Should have been the next great "unknown" Pete Ham/Badfinger single...would have been a big hit!!!
Tell me about. I cant get enough of this phenomenal song! How was this not a hit, its just a downright masterpiece.
I unironically regard "Head First" as Badfinger's greatest album overall!

they played bad then cause they died
Dont forget Bob Jackson!
@@danielmaggiomichels117 That is a pretty mean thing to say, you are almost as bad as Stan Polley (the soulless bastard who was Badfinger's manager)

you will never be forgotten pete.
Without a doubt my favorite song pity that the band has not lasted so long.
A song for Pete's partner, Ann - what a great pity that their love wasn't enough to "just send all the problems away". Love your voice Pete, RIP.
This should have been a huge hit. Love this version of Badfinger - addition of Bob Jackson was great.

I thought the same when I first knew this. Though I hear much more Wings than Beatles in the overall sound of the band.
This is what you get when two record companies go out to screw each other over. The victim is the band whose members received not one thought.
I'm here because of Daniel Michels' version. Great song, congrats Pete Ham, Daniel spoke kindly of you to us!
あとから、バッドフィンガーの新曲を集めたアルバムが発掘されたときは驚いた。最後の輝きを、みな聞け!
Действительно,,,наследники БИТЛЗ"!😍🥰🎸
Definitely a better mix than what appeared on the Rhino Warner Bros. collection.
I was just wondering about that since I read on Discogs that this was a rough mix...
This is so McCartney/Wings! Would confuse so many people in a blind test!
I was thinking the same thing sounds alot like McCartney
Nah, this is far better
You hear so many horror stories about band managers screwing over artists. Seems like this is a problem every band can relate to.

EricCarmen came close to Beatles /Badfinger sound with his old band The Raspberries
Amazing this song wasn't a hit, should have been the lead off single from this Album
It was officially released in 2000, so it's kinda understandable.
it was shevled...talk to a n r etc of 1975
Is it me or are the vocals mixed a little low in this
Как BEATLES
More like Wings.
too bad that these songs didnt get the right production
Sadly Apple Records dont released at 2010 Remasters.
Its been reworked for Best of Badfinger Vol.2 by Rhino.
Production is on point, shame they had terrible management... without Stan Polley, this would have been their best album
