Renata Tebaldi and Franco Corelli in La Bohème's finale
December 14, 1965, Met
Another heartbreaking death scene, with another legendary partner. In Graziano Corelli's (Franco's close friend and second cousin) wonderful video presentation, Renata Tebaldi sings Mimì and Franco Corelli is Rodolfo. Once again, we can enjoy plenty of beautiful photos of the iconic duo as a 1965 Met recording of Puccini's La Bohème plays.
(Fausto Cleva conducting, Marcello - Frank Guarrera, Musetta - Anneliese Rothenberger, Schaunard - Clifford Harvuot, Colline - Jerome Hines)
Thank you so much, Graziano ❤

(Fausto Cleva dirige, Marcello - Frank Guarrera, Musetta - Anneliese Rothenberger, Schaunard - Clifford Harvuot, Colline - Jerome Hines)
Grazie mille, Graziano ❤

Many thanks. Corelli is heartbreaking. One reason he was such a great singer is that he was a great actor 👏
I agree with you 100%, Eugenia Alverno
An incredibly fantastic end. Thanks to all. I don't remember how many times I have watched Corelli's shouting "Mimi"!
Buon Natale.
Saw both in Chenier and Corelli 3 other times. Incredible. Corelli made me melt!!
Grazie a loro due di essere esistiti
love the collection of their pictures together. A true, great friendship and legendary partnership on stage.
Dopo Di Stefano, Carreras, Prandelli e Pavarotti.
The best Rodolfo were di Stefano and Gigli. Just hear di Stefano with Albanese and Callas. No one other tenor could sing as expressive as di Stefano in the final scene when Mimí dies. Greetings,
Fantastic singing as ever! Enjoyed the photos immensely! The Great Corelli’s passion in this scene is incredibly moving. Thank you for the post of my favourite opera .
due giganti|||||
❤❤
The voices are spectacular as usual with Corelli and Tebaldi but what wonderful pictures. I would love to know where and on what occasions they were taken. I see that Franco was in the presence of our late President John F. Kennedy in one photo. Was it at the Metropolitan? Thank you for this great video.
The pictures with President Kennedy were taken on March 16, 1961, in Washington, D.C., at a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the unification of Italy.
So wonderful. But why did Franco Corelli wear THAT shirt?
Date? Clearly after Tebaldi’s return to the stage in 1964, but I would guess before ‘Gioconda’ in ‘66.
