The backlog is going strong, for better or worse 😭 You mentioned so many games that have been on my radar that I haven't had a chance to play yet, like Sea of Stars and Final Fantasy 16, and so many more! I have 4 kids at home, so I have to be choosy about what I play, and I'm also guilty of revisiting old favorites/exploring old games that are new to me (played Jet Set Radio Future for the first time this year, which was soooo good. Always been a big fan of the original JSR, and it was great having a whole new-to-me JSR to play). My favorite games I played this year that actually released this year were probably Tears of the Kingdom and Alan Wake 2. Both were incredible experiences, especially Alan Wake 2 after so many years of not even believing a sequel would actually happen! This year really has been more of a year of playing past games I missed out on though, more than any year prior. For one, I finally got my hands on a 360. I've never had an Xbox, and this has allowed me to get started on playing all the 360 games I never got to, which so far has consisted of Naruto The Broken Bond, Asura's Wrath, Blue Dragon, Dead Rising 2 Case Zero and Dead Rising 2 Case West, and Fable 2 (with Infinite Undiscovery coming next, and then closing my 360 experience with Lost Odyssey, the one I've wanted to play the most all of these years). The other thing that's had me returning to old games more and more the past year or two is the Steam Deck. Dude, you mention loving getting to play old classics portably, or enjoying Mario Rabbids and Tears of the Kingdom portable. I wasn't convinced the Steam Deck would be for me initially, but after I got it it changed everything. It's my favorite gaming device I've ever owned, and a part of that is because it not only gives me PC gaming in a form factor I'm much more comfortable with (never been a big PC guy, and now I'm all in on Steam since this thing feels like a more powerful Switch), but the Steam Deck also lets me have my entire retro library of games in one place and in my favorite form factor, be it handheld or docked. I grabbed a 1 tb micro SD just for a retro library on the Deck and filled that bad boy up with every PS1 and PS2 game I've ever owned, as well as NES, SNES, Dreamcast, Wii, you get the picture. I know we walk a gray line with emulation, but if a game is out of print and the devs can't see any money from a purchase for it, then I say no harm no foul. Anyway, 2023 was an epic year for gaming and I barely got to scratch the surface, and 2024 looks to be huge as well. I'm most looking forward to Koe, Granblue Fantasy ReLink, Persona 3 Reload, and Rise of the Ronin coming in 2024 so far, so here's to hoping for another great gaming year 😁

I definitely recommend Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE whenever you find the time. Loved solving the puzzles and watching the story unfold. I especially loved the setting; a city where the rain never stops. Actually looks gorgeous on the Switch. Also, loved seeing Dark Duel Stories in the background, that was my first YGO video game. Which YGO game were you playing on the GBA? Reshef of Destruction?

Man, Star Ocean 2 R I loved... The original was one of muy favorito RPGs and I loved this coming out... Brought tears to my eyes, hearing the opening as it started...
I was preparing to move to Europe, and sold all my game collection except my Final Fantasy ganes, hoy into jRPGs with FFVII. I gifted my SO2 copy to a friend that bought most of it... Justo a day before this remake came out... It was a tough week... Gotta say i'm loving your channel, binge watched 5 or 6 videos already since Yesterday...
I loved Octopath Traveler from 2023. That’s probably my top pick. But…TotK and BG3 were both really good too. I have Chained Echos installed. Just need to finish one of my “currently playing“ games to get going on it…

*Baldur's Gate 3.* BG3 isn't just the best RPG released in 2023, but is *THE* best game released in 2023. You might see some contrarians say, "eh, I tried it, and I thought it sucked." Irrelevant. If a game releases and knocks the industry so far off its axis that people start throwing around phrases like "the new standard for videogames," you know you've got one shit-hot game on your hands. Though it might be a bit early in the game's life, I think history will be very kind to BG3, as it'll be regarded as one of the best games ever made. I promise it will. It's deserving of every award and acolade it's been given. Even though TVA are a hot mess, they deservedly won it, and Neil Newbon deservedly won best VA.
I just got my copy of this one, actually! Got the physical and it was delayed, etc. But I'll need to see when I can get the time in for it. Thanks for watching!
I think the only 2023 stuff I played in 2023 was FE Engage and the Xenoblade and Pokemon DLCs. I did play Trails from Zero again though. I am planning to hopefully replay Azure this year too. I played it first with the Geofront translation 3 years ago. Such an amazing game. And I have also played a bunch of older games like Pokemon Lets go, because I never finished that game for some reason. I like lets go, I just wish it wasn't Kanto again. The pokemon DLC was fun though. I actually got it for free due to my sister. No idea how. I am still filling out that pokedex. FE was also great and Engage was a lot more fun than 3 Houses for me, because I could just play the game and not have to deal with monastery stuff. I really started hating the monastery in my second run. Mostly because I was falling asleep in my seat. Trails is a great series though. But I am also childfree and single, so I have lots of time to play games. Although not that much more after chores and stuff. But I also really love the Ys series. Ys 8 was such an amazing game. But so were all the others so far. I am playing Ys 6 right now. Can not wait to play the other 2 games I am still missing. Oh, and I also played Cold steel 2 in 2023. After I finally finished Cold Steel 1. There are too many great games. I also need to finsih Pokemon legends one day. Legnds is an amazing game. I just completely lost how the gameplay works. And Paras is the most aggressive little mushroom crab I have ever seen. And also Ace Attorney. I replayed Apollo Justice for the 5th time again or something XD. I don't know. I just really like that game. And the panty case! The panty case is so funny. And this year, I will be very irresponsible and buy 3 huge VNs that I will probably not play until much later. The nasuverse is tempting me. And also more falcom games. Falcom is holding my wallet hostage. I hope I can preorder TX when I go to my gamestore next week. 2023 was a great year for gaming. I hope we get another fire emblem announced this year too. I still need to play 3Hopes. Another reason I do not like Houses is part 1 and Byleth. Why is Byleth mute? Byleth is not even a real character. Hope Byleth is so much cooler. He finally speaks! I love Byleth having a voice. And Shez is also cool. I wish Hopes had S supports. I want to put Shez and Byleth together so badly. I ship it! Why do we not have that option? They go so well together. Maybe I can play hopes this year. I heard Shez is very fun to play. And of the star ocean games I know of, I say my favorite is still the first one. Roddick just has the better story. Star ocean 2 is a cool game but the story was so bad. So disconnected. Makes me not really wnat to play it now. But I will play it! When I get to it. I hope we get a new direct soon. Directs are always fun. I need more copium, just in case.

Eventually I did start fast forwarding through monastery stuff, but I also played it through 5 times to get every drop of lore 😅. What I wish they did and would love in an inevitable 10 - 15 year remake (maybe) is some sort of a Golden ending. There is evidence that NG+ is connected to his ability to manipulate time based on some character comments. So if that’s true, there’s no reason they couldn’t, in theory, have a path where things are revealed early, the real enemy is exposed, and all 3 Lords are forced to reflect and reconsider their paths. Again, in theory. Maybe one day.
I too played, too many NSO games instead of games I continued to buy in 2023! Sorry games ... you were most definitely better than the original Harvest Moon but probably not as good as Pokemon Trading Card Game game.
