  • How To Use Taylor K-2005 And K-2006 Test Kits. Part 1. Basic Swimming Pool Chemicals.
In this video I'm reviewing arguably the best swimming pool water testers on the market: Taylor K-2005 and K-2006 kits. And particular I'm testing the water for:
    free chlorine
    pH
    alkalinity
    calcium hardness
    cyanuric acid
Also there is brief explanation what basic chemicals to add to get your pool water to perfect conditions: baking soda, muriatic acid, liquid chlorine, alkalinity and calcium hardness increaser, chlorine tablets.

I was amazed with this test, because where I live people don't really care about the pH condition of swimming pools

As another option, you can also increase your pH without using baking soda by using a fountain. Aeration in the fountain causes pH to rise.

Only thing added thru the skimmer should be chlorine stabilizer or sometimes called chlorine conditioner. Anything else is bad for the pump seals aslo if you add calcium hardness thru the skimmer it could cause filter to rupture or chlorinator to explode especially using pellet calcium very strong exothermic reaction with water . Always hold test bottles straight up and down so each drop is the same . Nice vid sir but some info not right and dangerous

We got a new saltwater pool and when i check chlorine with DPD powder it does not turn pink even though i kept putting more and more powder. We run the chlorinator about 8 hours daily. What are we doing wrong?

Well, it's salt water pool so it's alternative system to regular chlorine. You need different test kit to measure chlorine in the pool and it's called Taylor K-2006 SALT, chlorine test there is specifically for saltwater pools.

What were the tablets you add to increase cyanuric acid?

Trichlor tablets. They are a stabilized form of chlorine that adds CYA to your water
