Again a great video and an interesting review. Poland has a booming audio industry. In Poland a hifi show attracts not only old men but lots of young people and whole families. Which is telling. So there is a lot of demand in Poland itself. I bought my Miyajima Zero in Poland. Great shop (vinyl gold). I thought I'd never hear from them again but a month later he mailed me offering a pristine 2ndH. I hear between the lines that an MC cartridge is still sorely missed. If you can't choose (the Chinese I suggested) just go for a Hana EH high output. That's a good entry reference that goes into the MM input.
It's still on my wish list. Finances have been tight lately. I am considering a Hana SH. I spoke to Dave at Vinyl Nirvana about it when I saw him recently.
Prices for decent gear is getting crazy expensive. Rather have a nice turntable then a fancy car in the driveway. Just picked up my first high end table. Such a joy to use. 👍
But vinyl records entered the space age in the early 60s with all those records with names like "Space-Aged Sounds From The Mid-Century-Modern-Styled Future Of 1997," haha. Love to see the WallySkater! I ended up getting one as a birthday gift last month. Your video on WallyTools inspired me to go for it. It really helped me finally get my anti-skate right, and I absolutely hear the difference. I was hoping you'd be using it here. I was not disappointed. This looks like an amazing unit. I have a lot of respect for Poland-a country which has often been through hell, yet has kept on going-so that makes the turntable all the more appealing to me. Can't say I will have the moola for it anytime soon, and I am very happy with my current setup (thanks in part to the aforementioned WallySkater), but I will keep the name Muarah on file.
That's great to hear about the Wally Skater, JWD. It's indispensable now and I love that I can check antiskate easily now and feel confident that everything is ok.
Cool video! That's an awesome looking turntable. Since you mentioned Coltrane's A Love Supreme, here are a few Coltrane albums that may be easier to start with: Ballads, Blue Trane, and Lush Life.
Interesting but also beautiful turntable, IMO. Looks like some cool design ideas as well, especially the weight that sends the rpm info to a speed box. Thanks for the vid. 🔊😊🎶
@@3dimensionsofmusic3D Greg! How’re you doing, man? Great to “see” ya out in the wilds of the interwebs. I’ll drop by your channel and say hello too. Got a bunch of VC and audio vids Im looking forward to watching. Have a good one, brother.
Well this one exceeds my means although fascinating. I have taken your advice and acquired GrooveGuardian inner sleeves and a 2M Blue for my Orbit2. Very nice stuff.
Looks nice. Like the leveling feature. An often overlooked capability. I have a hard time leveling a 300 lb stand. And shims are crude. I changed feet on my Rega RP8 to do this, though these feet are not as sleek as original feet.
I'm on the prowl for a turntable upgrade and being of Polish decent and having been to Poland, I know they have outstanding engineering and craftsmanship over there. My problem is that I have a VPI Scout and while this looks like an upgrade, I don't think it would be enough of a jump for me to justify it. I would sure like to hear one or play around with one.
Take a look at the Transcriptor turntables also for a similar 'platter/'mat' not touching the record entirely' effect [Of Clockwork Orange fame]. The Muara looks like an interesting turntable, like the speed controller/intelligent clamp idea.
I actually thought it would be something in the $10k price range. Very space age looking. There seems to be quite a bit of high-end gear coming out of Poland at realistic prices. Thanks for sharing.
Mmm , for that price I might maybe opt for a Michell Gyro . For the moment I play with a Block PS-100 and Audio Technica AT33EV moving coil cartridge , and that player was at the time described as on par with 3000 and plus players but for 1/3 of the price.
@@TheJoyofVinylRecords well in fact , the platter is made in China , the motor is Dutch , the arm was from Rega ( nowadays they install a Project one) and the assembly is German.
Central Europe produced some great musicians and also great hifi gear. Poland has a few top notch review sites, speaker brands and I am surprised I have never heard of this brand. Looks like it would be a 10K TT if produced by a US company. (Or maybe not, Poland's GDP will soon be in the top 10 in Europe)
There are a few speed controls out there. This was the first I've seen that measures the speed with a record weight. Maybe there are other but haven't seen one.
Interesting. Love how you get access to off the beaten path products. Re the MT3, how about playing 7" with that integrated mat? looks like only the rim will be supported. I appreciate a new "mat" approach, but not sure that this is better (or worse) than a complete contact mat. I would like to see data on this, but there never is. Price/design is on par with VPI. Not a fan of switching belts, as on the 45 setting it stretches the belt and puts more strain on bearing. With speed control, I wonder what is audible. In the pitch domain, my hearing lets me distinguish to about 3 cents (800 cents = octave = doubling frequency) ~ 1/250 octave, which would correspond to +/- 0.132 rpm at 33 rpm or 0.4%. Most TTs have wow/flutter of
Hey Daniel! That's very interesting about the demag. I've never owned a MC (not yet) and never ran across the concept. Good to know the tendency is to not worry about it for when I do get one. That's a good question on the 7". I suspect it would be fine given the amount of thought Muarah put into the unit, but I never play 7" 45s. I have a handful of old ones but they are in awful condition and I would never put a stylus through those grooves....
I think record players are a good product for a boutique company. You don't need a genius designer , just someone who understands the well known design goals , and precision manufacturing. I originally thought this was going to be about the Michell gyro, a product from an English boutique company , but it costs around twice the price. although a classic high performer , it is relatively unknown, because it has been around so long it rarely makes it into any audio news. One major concern I would emphasize is sustainability, because you are not going to wear such a simple high quality device out. But if you need parts down the road when things happen, or a belt, it is good to consider the long term support before buying .
