20 years, $2.5 trillion spent, thousands of American lives lost, and tens of thousands of Afghans immigrated to the US, I think the US has done enough. Afghan government was corrupt and it didn’t help that their army didn’t have a spine. Not a single soldier out of 300,000 put up a fight, even by accident. The talent and youth preffered to leave the country than to build it. Speaking as an Afghan American, I think Biden did absolutely the right thing.

@@uw2783 Agreed. As an ex-military member (USAF) and Trump supporter, I agree that we shouldn’t have been there anymore. In fact, we never should’ve been there in the first place, IMO. Biden just did it ALL wrong. Rather than follow the agreement we had with Afghanistan, he delayed it (broke the US’s word) & then incompetently executed the evac plan. (If he even HAD a plan. Debatable.) That’s what I meant by my statement, plus my opinion of this idiotic “war” from the get-go. He doomed them by the WAY he left, not that he left.
@@tarantulady8565 Thank you for your service. I served as interpreter there with the US marines as well. I agree the exit could’ve been handled better, but if August wasn’t enough time to pull out effectively, I don’t know how May would’ve been. But I suppose this is something that will be debated for a long time to come.
@@uw2783 Indeed, I’m sure it will be. Trump had a well laid out plan, even instructions to destroy military equipment that couldn’t be taken out. He wouldn’t have screwed It up, IMO. (We’ll never know - hypothetical) Biden’s military & intell advisors say they told him what he was doing was wrong & it was going to result in the sh^t show we’re currently seeing. He ignored them. If we couldn’t have gotten out by May 1, as the agreement required, we should’ve at least started leaving by then. Maybe drag it out a bit after starting to leave to get everyone out before the military evacced & we lost complete control to the Taliban. The Afghan ppl will have to take care of themselves now. We did the best we could to prepare them. It’s their ball to carry…and it doesn’t look like they want to carry it.🤷🏻♀️Sad.
