Eachine P-47 - Direct Drive Brushless Upgrade

  • In my first P-47 brushless upgrade video I demonstrated how to fit a brushless inrunner motor in the stock gear reduction drive as the simplest mod.
But I had always planned to set it up with a quieter direct drive set-up, and I finally got the right motor and made the mod. I didn't show the install because it's like all of the others, cutting out the gear drive, carving a foam cavity in the nose and using 3mm hobby plywood as a motor mount.
I was able to re-use the radial engine photo taken from a real P-47 and photo-shopped to clean it up and sized to match the RC model's cowl dimensions. I had to enlarge the opening in the center of the image to clear the BL motor, using a piece of sharpened copper pipe to make a perfect circle cut-out.
The motor is a "HappyModel" 1404 3500kV that Bang Good use to sell under the "Eachine" brand name, but changed it. They did that with several brushless motors they once sold as Eachine motors. Not sure why.
Still using the same 2S-3S 10A ESC, Gemfan 5030 propeller and aluminum collet-style prop hub (2mm with a 1.5mm sleeve adapter added to fit the BL motor's 1.5mm shaft).
Hope to get it in the air soon.

And this is how Eachine should have sold this from the factory .

Awesome! I love my Brushless P-47. What a great flying plane with adequate power. I'm looking forward to your test flights. All System are Go! See you in the Air!

That's Jim Dandy. Haha I would imagine the P-47 will now have unlimited vertical with the 2S conversion. Should be a LOT more fun.

It could probably swing a 6" prop, which would really help it climb.
SLS? Artemis? Falcon 9? Who needs them? I have my own rocket. 😉
      Happy flying!

Hello Doggeslife , we now have 2 of these P47's we want to convert, can you recommend a receiver and Power Combo System, that we could drop in, we have been able to repair and do mods, we are just stuck when it comes to the electronics, we are probably going to buy a transmitter soon, so far we only slightly modified the stock RTF's, in all we want to me 3 of the 400mm planes and 2 of the 500mm planes, thanks for any advice

The receiver of choice depends on which transmitter you buy. The different brands all have their own signal protocols and are not cross-compatible. I like Spektrum transmitters myself.
This is the 10A ESC I used: www.ebay.com/itm/142674993691?hash=item213817a21b:g:A3wAAOSwKgdaciFr&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoAa7f%2BlnjojJiGhF6D292zjz5X6oclU2D0YiQPMMdLbdBYdaQtFqr%2FTKdXqJ1f%2FvDF4loQPbhTBvcrs7S1GFj7rxWbLkbtsOapUP71pDb9NtlwA2iCNU1gHFclViaG0MiWJAaX8StR9RClnLI%2FCTrTxKGy4mdq3eAPhDC8NopvbF6xKcLlGbNeSN2eqw6kEYoXMUzAbDMoBo8JkdC9j8RJI%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_7eh8eiYQ

ALTERNATELY you could use a 2S Eflite receiver with a built-in brushless ESC and one of their EDF motors to replace the brushed motor and still use the gear reduction drive. That way you don't need to cut up the front of the plane to remove the gear drive and make a firewall. The tricky part is getting the right brass gear to put on the brushless motor to use with the gear drive. That is how I did the first version of my P-47: See the 2S receiver and motor demo'd here: ruclips.net/video/BTJoIQVFa4M/видео.html

Hello can we do this mod with stock radio

    • @Doggeslife
      @Doggeslife  2 года назад

yes, but you will need to get a brushed-to-brushless convertor to provide the proper signal to control an external ESC. Thsi video show how I did it with the Cessna which has the same receiver as the P-47: ruclips.net/video/-7sVWT7reAo/видео.html
