C186/MCPX BL Frankenstein 2 - 4-Blade Fail, 2-Blade Success

  • I made some more "fixes" and flight attempts with the 4-blade head with unhappy results. I then fitted a stock swash plate and 2-blade head and tried again and it few quite nicely. (Successful flights take place starting at 6:28 and 8:58)
This proves that the problem with control is in the cheap-quality 4-blade head of the C-186/Eachine E120 I am using. The lack of ball bearings and poorly-clamping blade grips seems to be the cause. I am looking into acquiring and fitting a decent 4-blade head eventually, perhaps from a similar size Xk K124. If can find a used 4-blade RakonHeli head (discontinued and sold out) then I will try that too.
First half of the video is the last and unsuccessful 4-blade attempt followed by clean flight with 2 blades and an MCPX BL rotor head. I had a few spectators for my last flight.
So, Frankenstein-2 with the merged C186 and MCPX BL frames, BL motors and linear servos flies well, but not as intended. I still have not given up hope for proper 4-blade flight. Research, investigation and experimentation continues.
    Happy flying!

I'm amazed at how much power that 2-Blade system has ;-) It looked like the control on the 4-blade system was way behind on your control input and wanted to pendulum. Nice flight with that 2-blade system and fast! See you in the Air!

Ya, the ball-bearing-free blade grips just don't respond well. Very low quality. I am going to try to retrofit better quality blade grips from a K124 helicopter to see if it helps. That's what the 2-blade head has. The new grips should be here in a couple of weeks.
      Happy flying!

With my xk-as350/ MCPX BL hybrid, I used the MCPX BL mechanics as standard. It flies heavy and I have to be really careful with power or I loose the tail. Flies like a happy dog, always wagging its tail

Nice. The BL and BL2 are versatile machines. Happy flying!
(P.S... Saw your video flying your MCP-S indoors. Fun!)

you need to tighten up the blades to move smoothly not real loose as shown in video.
