Seeing the deleted scene of Michael talking to Astrid about his father really adds an extra layer of depth to that whole episode. Seeing the situation in this new light, that Michael just wanted Astrid to have a father figure in her life because he himself grew up without a father…it’s really quite a beautiful scene. I really wish the show would have delved deeper into Michael’s backstory.
The fact that Jan didn’t let Michael hold Astrid was honestly pure evil. I get that she was having a hard time trusting him and all but she chose to go to the baby shower at Dunder Mifflin, she was still giving him orders (don’t date Holly), and she knew how much Michael loves kids and how excited he was to meet her baby. Evil. I really hated her more after this.
And she knew that that’s why she didn’t want Michael to marry holly. She knew they would actually be a real couple and that holly would treat him the way he shoulda been treated
Michael feels more of a connection to children because he’s a child at heart. They’re innocent and honest. Love unconditional (typically) while many adults lie or see the world without that spark of imagination.
It does not matter whose kid it is (including Toby's), Michael just knows how to take care of babies. What a pure soul. Couldn't even get himself to be mad at Cece.
Stanley’s laugh at Scot’s Tots was infectious. Michael is so desperate to have his own kids That he Tuly gets involved with Jim and Pam pregnancy, Plus he ‘takes ownership’ of Jan’s baby despite having nothing to do with it.

I have a couple of theories about Jan’s baby: 1) Even though Jan said her Astrid wasn’t Michael’s baby, she really was, and Jan simply didn’t want Michael in her life (oddly, Michael accepted her explanation without requesting a DNA test); 2) She sought out Hunter after she and Michael broke up and… you know (as Jake in “Two and a Half Men” would say). I give #1 credence because Kevin had a knack for having a sense about relationships, and it was he who alerted Michael to her pregnancy by saying “You’ve got to see this,” perhaps implying he was the baby daddy.

I was disappointed that the finale didn’t bring Holly back with their kids in tow, or at least they could have shown some of the photos that he kept on the two phones.
The show had a hand in bringing me out of depression and encouraging me to get back to work.. because I’m a good hearted, totally misunderstood misfit, just like Michael G Scott.

They never mention his wedding (which I'm sure they would have all been invited to) or finding out he has kids We never hear about him working Dunder Mifflin in Colorado and finding out drips and drops of the new office which has to put up with Michael. I get that Steve Carell wanted to move on but elements of his character could have still existed in the universe, even if it was just the occasional email or picture.
I love how even though he can't stand told me he is so sweet to Toby's daughter. There are some people who will be mean just because they don't like the parent.

It’s surprisingly uncreepy. This character is beautifully written and acted. Steve Carrell is a genius.
