- This games does stir up a lot of emotions alright... I played it a while ago but I couldn't get it out of my head.This is a fan edit with some custom made 3D animation. Apart from the scene with Elster and videos from the game, everything was modeled by me with Blender.
Game: Signalis (rose engine)

I'd really love a glimpse into the wider picture of Signalis' setting.
The war, the individual planets...
The war alone could make for a great game in itself without carrying the burden of having to explain what the fuck Signalis was actually about but expanding the worldbuilding (I'd imagine it'd be a chance to give the Empire a spotlight too and show their units etc.)
This would make for an excellent trailer. A very strong representation of all the artistic themes behind the game, marvelous
A little too many spoilers and events not in game for a trailer, but it’s got the spirit!
Perhaps the game could've been more knowledgeable among the gaming community and not so under the radar if they had better marketing, and that includes having a trailer as amazing as what we see here. It's quite unfortunate not many have heard of this game before. But hopefully with time the community will continue to grow.

THISS SO GOOD! legendary and masterful. i wish i understood the poem while watching the video but i might check a translation of it out eventually. the directing on this is so smooth, i liked how the sky turned from blue to red in the 0:40 scene or how many environmental images are shown, makes the character appearances even more striking. music is chosen so well. and the addition of the german voice on the lines, or the Three Note Oddity playing with the orchestra, is the best. a bit specific but i like the various cube imagery (and how it "explodes" in 2:03) and the square in 0:07
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I put a lot of time to make sure those details would fit together. ^^ The poem isn't 100% "Der Krieg" as I adapted it a little and it has been ages since I wrote something in German so it might be crappy, but I'll write down the translation of it I had in mind :
Aufgestanden ist sie, welche lange schlief, -She who slept long has risen
Aufgestanden unten aus Gewölben tief -Risen from vaults deep below.
In der Dämmrung steht sie, groß und unerkannt, -In the twilight she stands, tall and unrecognized,
Und den Mond zerdrückt sie in ihrer schwarzen Hand -And she crushes the moon in her black hand.
Einem Turm gleich tritt sie aus der letzten Glut, -Like a tower she emerges from the last embers,
Wo der Tag flieht, sind die Ströme schon voll Blut. -Where the day flees, the rivers are already full of blood.
Zahllos sind die Leichen schon im Schilf gestreckt, -Countless bodies are already stretched out in the reeds

The isle of the dead part hit nicely as well
This is genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces of Signalis art I've ever seen. It perfectly encapsulates the emotional tone of the game and the setting. Watching it for the first time felt like playing the game for the first time again. Absolutely stunning work. I hope Yuri comes across this.

I have to say it’s quite special how much this game keeps players engaged after they played it. How much they think about it afterwards. And it reflects quite a lot in fan art and stuff.
What I wondered. How did you came to the decision to use “Der Krieg” in your video? It’s a beautiful poem, language wise, despite of its grim content. I just wondered and am interested why you particularly chose this one?
What I would have liked was, if the words of that poem stayed a little longer on screen, so you could read em a bit better. At least to me it was a bit fast at times. 🙃 Not to criticise, but that’s just my take. Overall outstanding work.
I myself did a little Signalis Edit cause I liked the game a lot… Maybe you want to check it out. Maybe you like it, or find it entertaining. Although I’m not that good at editing, but still. 😅 it’s called “Signalis - Dead can Dance”.

I used this poem because but I read it a while ago and I found this one fitted the general atmosphere of signalis (Eusan nation's war against the empire on Vineta, where Elster's Gestalt fought, and Elster's endless fight to keep her promise to Arianne with no hope in sight as the cycle repeats through each of her death). I also really liked the rythm, the repetitions and the imagery used in the poem : rising from a vault, crushing of a moon (reflecting the imagery of the eye and the total eclipse of the sun from the game) deserts, rivers of blood and countless bodies covered white by death's birds.
As for the screen time for the words, it was intentional, I even cut some parts that were still being written like at 1:05. It was pretty much a stylistic choice to match the tone of signalis, to make it feel glitched and corrupted. Since the poem is clearly mentionned and is easily accessible online, I saw no drawbacks to cut it like so. I hope it made some people dig up for it and find the meaning for themselves. As for the those who don't understand the poem, basking in the feels is alright too. 😊
I looked at your video, and I smiled uncontrolably at 2:20 when I saw all of those Ryan Gosling images trough Elster, that was quite unexpected. I found you did a good job on the edit! I'll put the music in my playlist that's for sure! So you too keep up the good work! 😜

Especially loving the “basking in the feels” part. It’s the same as in movies or in music. When something doesn’t have to make sense per se, or needs to be explained, like spoon fed to the audience… if something causes a certain feeling, or if the audience gets something of it… that’s equally worthy as “understanding”…
I am always “worried” with Signalis and the usage of german words etc… hoping it doesn’t “diminish” the result, because it isn’t as accessible as English for example. But as far as I see - people still dig it a lot. So I’m glad they enjoy it I thus form. 🙃

How much time this take?
Thanks! 😊 I didn't count but I'd say 1-2h for each custom 3D scene (modeling to rendering). It took a few more hours to learn rigging and character animation for the short scene with Elster. The music and the audio SFX took less than 1 hour to mashup and mix together in audacity. The editing part was quite long, I would say 3-4 hours until I was satisfied. So yeah that's a bit more than a whole day of work spread over several weeks.

Wow... how did you made that? Where the models of the Großer Gustav (0:37) custom made? Which software did you use? I am really intererested into getting this field and make my own cinemtatics, edits and even original content. That is why I am asking this. No worries I am not intersted to steal or use your models. I am just curious.
Hey! Thanks :) I used Blender (EEVEE) and Davinci Resolve. Yeah the models in the custom scenes were made by me (expect some textures ripped from the game like the penrose ate 0:29). Those Gustav canons literally have no texture, just simple 1 color diffuse shading, the lighting and low poly style takes care of the rest. The modeling of the Gustav wasn't too bad as it's just cubes with some arrays here and there to make it seem detailed. If you like this style and are already familiar with blender, I recommend to watch the "cubic worlds" videos from CG Boost. But beware, depending on what your quality standards are, 3D animation can be a very long journey!

I believe the Penrose launch is actually from one of the earlier Signalis trailers. (Or, if this precise one wasn't from the trailer, one of the trailers has a near identical scene with the Penrose launching)
