    In this video:
Just before 4 am on August 31, 1888, on London’s seedy Buck’s Row, a cart driver named Charles Cross saw the body of a woman lying on the ground. In the early morning gloom, it was initially impossible to tell if she was drunk or dead. Cross was soon joined by another carter, Robert Paul. The two men saw the woman’s skirts were pulled above her waist. They smoothed them back over her knees and went searching for a policeman.

My theory is, that the ripper Immigrated to America to avoid being caught, as Scotland Yard and the public at large were quite vigilant for his capture. He probably continued his ripping spree once in the US, as several murders in Galveston, TX and California, matched the ripper's mode of operation.
I could be wrong. But it's my best hypothesis.

Any other REALLY interesting info?! Or clues to whom it could be? I myself believe it wasn't anyone Jewish. And there are lots of people to me that seem most suspect; I find as I'm gumshoeing around! That guy that died in an asylum with 14 or thereabouts. Worthless rings the type a prostitute might own. The guy who owned that watch inscribed with the victims names scratched in it. (which was fraudulent?) The guy who had 15 out of the 25 leafs of special rare paper sold only by a certain shop.( paper exactly like which letters were penned to the police) so many suspects! Dying to figure this out a little more so my brain will leave me alone! Thanks for anymore tibits!

You know what the sick thing is about Jack The Ripper? It wasn't the murders, the taunting letters, taking organs from the victims and allegedly eating part of a kidney.
It was that in commiting the gruesome crimes he attracted a ton of interest from the newspapers who sent people out to Whitechapel hoping they could get anything on the case. The reporters wrote stories of the horrible conditions in the slums of Whitechapel and that caused a bit of the public to appeal to improve the living conditions.
Jack the Ripper killed 5 to 8 people but how many did he save by bringing attention to the nightmarish conditions of Whitechapel at the time? Jack may have helped the people more than anyone else up to that point. In a twisted way Jack shined a light on a place he allegedly called hell and likely saved hundreds of lives.

There's a popular theory that suggests that Jack the Ripper was actually a woman, a wet nurse who lived around a similar time as the Ripper Murders. She was described as being tall and freakishly strong for a woman of that time period. She was arrested and sentenced to death for a murder of a woman, frighteningly reminiscent of the Ripper Murders. She sent a letter to an unknown accomplice, speaking of a secret only they knew of, saying something along the lines of "the secret is safe." Sadly, that secret died with her.
A wet nurse would've been able to walk around in public with bloody clothes without seeming terribly suspicious, and perhaps could've been able to approach women such as prostitutes without raising any alarms. The profession of wet nurse would also explain the apparent knowledge of anatomy the Ripper had. It's just a theory, and sadly no Ripper theory can be proven to any extent, but I personally think it's plausible.

I have read and or watched everything about the Ripper since I was a kid. The two things always shocked me. First off the pictures of the last victim. You can hardly believe a human being was capable of such horrendous act. The second thing is that when they talked about Long Liz Stride they said it was because of her extraordinary height. I assumed the woman would be five five eight or nine inches given the era was one of short people due to malnutrition. That is until I saw her autopsy report. Her 'extraordinary height' was five feet two inches. That was considered very tall for the time. My own great grandmother was only four foot ten.

I had read Liz was 5’3. But yes I thought the same. People were shorter and more petite. It’s interesting when you read the autopsy report of Mary Jane Kelly then look at the old photo, it becomes a lot clearer, the detail of what was done to her. You can see her liver ( I think, it’s listed in the report) next to the closer foot. It was a very strange unsettling effect.

It’s hard to determine why people are given certain nicknames, you have to be in on the story. The only way to do that with certainty is to have been a prostitute in 1888 who knew Elizabeth Stride personally. I read that she was called “Long Liz,” not because of her height, but because it was a joke on her name, since she accepted being called Liz and her last name was Stride. It’s a play on her surname and the English word “stride” (or ‘walk’). She might have been known to her fellow prostitutes as “Long Liz Stride,” a play on the English phrase “long stride” (or having wide steps in your walk). I’m just suggesting what I’ve heard, I really have no idea.

You might find reading "The Five" interesting as it re-examines what is known about the victims. It raises questions about Victorian biases in coroner's courts and media to name all the victims as prostitutes though most of them would not identify as such (though were homeless and/or vulnerable for other reasons). I found the further information on Mary-Jane's life very interesting and may explain her death as the consequence of other reasons.

Disclaimer: I am not a qualified expert, nor do I intend to imply otherwise, so consider the following comment accordingly.
As someone studying behavioral analysis - with an emphasis on criminal behavior - last 2 murders are definitely big clues to me:
    1. The second-to-last murder showed a significant change in behavior - the offender spent more time at the crime scene than he needed to, and increased the mutilation exponentially. Moreover, the removal of the organs suggests that his psychological need that drove him to murder was not satisfied by the previous murder, causing him to increase his level of violence. This is even more apparent in the final murder.
    2. The implication of cannibalism is an important - and extreme - escalation, as it shows that the offender viewed his victims as animals, as less than human, which justifies anything he does to them in his own mind.
    3. On a related note to the previous point, the way that the victims organs were removed is strikingly similar to how a butcher would dismantle an animal, which makes it more likely that the implied cannibalism actually occurred.
So, if I were asked to help narrow down the suspect pool, I would say to look for someone who fits at least the following criteria:
    1. A man who works as a butcher or in a related profession,
    2. Who shows disdain or even hatred towards women,
    3. Who is not publicly violent towards anyone, regardless of gender, although he may be verbally aggressive at times
    4. Will be a loner to some degree,
    5. Is likely between 35 and 50 years old (although age is more difficult to determine than other aspects),
    6. Will have shown a mix of increased confidence and frustration in the time between the first murder and the final murder, along with increased aggression,
    7. Finally, shortly after the final murder, he will have left town, been locked up for something besides the murders, or died.
As I said at the beginning, I'm not an expert, this is just my analysis based on what I've learned. Anyone who knows this field better than I, please feel free to add comments or corrections as you see fit.

All these comments are either trying to find a sob story/excuse for the killer; making cruel and tasteless jokes; complaining that their diner is ruined; trying to pin the blame onto a woman or women in general; justifying the murders; or just treating the Killer as some kind of celebrity that Americans want to lay claim to?
I've been fascinated in the Jack the Ripper case most of my life and find it a compelling mystery... Yet it never escapes me that these women had lives, feelings, experiences, and were all victims, both of the killer and the unfair times they lived in... These were human beings who had their lives cut short by a killer; and yet not one person here even shows the slightest pity? This disgusts me more than the Ripper case itself.

What I've never understood is why everyone just assumes that Jack the Ripper was a man.
Seriously, wouldn't it make a whole lot of sense for a diabolical woman to do all those things and then taunt the police by pretending to be a man?

    • @marinatebbenham4011
      @marinatebbenham4011 4 года назад

It's obvious he was a man; the killer would need to possess strength to subdue and kill several women without them screaming; as well as savagery and hatred that propelled him.
Secondly, with 4 of the victims, Chapman, Stride, Eddowes, and Kelly, the woman was seen with a man shortly before her death - Elizabeth Stride was even seen by Isreal Schwartz being assaulted by a man, shortly before death.
Also, the suspect needed a weapon and atleast basic knowledge, of which women were not allowed to have back then.
Also, what would a woman's motivation be to kill other women? The idea the Ripper was a woman has been talked about to death; as is our need to blame and villainise women for anything and everything. He most likely was not a woman.

Finally, it also makes as much (if not more) sense for a diabolical man to kill and mutilate these prostitutes.

Simon. I’ll follow you everywhere: Bio, Geo, Top 10, Today, etc. You ARE RUclips. However, check the narrative, please. It’s becoming a bit repetitive.
The Germans, “they” invaded. The Americans, “they” saved the day. The British and French, “they” resisted. It’s wonderful, but a little too much. Thanks as always.

My brain is tired. When I initially read the title of the video, I thought "ripping" referred, not to murder, but to flatulence. I thought to myself, "Who is Jack? And, how did he end up with intestinal issues severe enough to earn a video about it?" Smh.

These women had no choice. What is worse, selling your own body for the necessary money to survive in a time where there is no social aid and you only have the choice to sell yourself or starve; or be a man with a possible job, going out killing and terrifying women for fun?
