Let's not forget the Tollas (Feather man? I guess) Who goes around in villages buying feathers, pillows and blankets (with feathers in them). Nowdays he buys furniture and car batteries too. Parents tell their children if they behave badly he will take them away too
Mindenesetre a te videód remek lett !
My parents used to scare me with the 'Csúnya Bácsi' wich translates into 'Ugly Man'. Every time when I misbehaved they said for example 'Menj fürdeni vagy jön érted a Csúny Bácsi' which means 'Go and take a bath or the Ugly Man will come for you' or sometimes they even said 'Eladlak a Csúnya Bácsinak' which means 'I will sell you to the Ugly Man'. They sometimes mentioned the 'Csúnya Néni' too which means 'Ugly Woman'
Asking the real question... What about the copper owl whistling on a copper tree? Or rather a copper angel on a willow? From crazy hole, crazy wind blows.
Hi, I'm from Hungary, and that video was so good. (So far, I didn't here about the Réz F*szú Bagoly.) I'm happy to see not just hungarian youtubers intrested in this area. Keep it up!👍
genes kinda show everything, our today hungarian dnapool 90-95% european , terms of haplogroups very similar like neighbouring german speaking austrians ...we hardly carry the genes of our linguistic ancestors it just happened here that 1100 years ago about 100.000 magyars overrun 1 million peaceful farmers/workers and they hardly killed anyone just became the ruling elite...and the 100.000 magyars had 7 tribes with different cultures and dna like a multiethnic federation of horsepeople...fresh/2022/ news the 7 magyar tribes mainly originated from: huns, goths/german/ and sarmatans /indoiranian/...archeologist and genes kinda show everything
Btw whn you said ''We all know hungarian folk tales are weird'' I was like ''yea it makes me wonder what kind of mushrooms were the authors consuming when they created them'' XD
Oh, and a little interesting thing, I personally don't know about any kind of mystified legend behind whether the screech owl meant the hangers that we had.
I did not expect to learn something, yet i did. Not only from the video, but by finding it as well. I learned that RUclips can suggest videos based on conversations with my frineds o.O
I loved it! Nice video Anna! Oh and if you want make one more Hungarian culture video, I recommend the busó. It is a very interesting and cool hungarian thing! :D
Hey Anna, do you speak hungarian I would like to learn it, mainly because I live close to Miercurea-Ciuc and it really it would come in handy, any pro tips or do you know if there are people teaching that stuff ? (I tried doulingo but I just dont find it helpfull enough).
I know someone who learned Hungarian from Duolingo and used Drops to enhance his vocabulary. These two are pretty good for learning textbook Hungarian, but that won't be that useful in MC, because most people there speak with Szekler-dialect which is pretty difficult to understand if you're not a native speaker.
So, i don't know if you can speak hungarian, that's why i'm writing in english. I just saw this video in my recommended, and isntantly clicked on it. After watching the video, i have to admit that's what i call qualitiy content.(and it's even educational) You earned a new Magyar subscriber, and i wish you luck in the future. Keep up the qualitiy content!
@@AnnaLeWild I haven't watched them that much either nowadays, but my best friend showed me a clip about it. BTW, I left a comment there about your video if anyone wants to know more about the topic. ;)
Im hungarian, yet this content is still interesting for me. However i think it should be known that the "rézfaszúbagyoly" has disappeared from the common knowlonge around 1960-70. We don't really use these kind of words nowdays.
Interesting story told briefly and to the point. I wanna know more myths and folktales from our central-eastyern europe. There must be so much to read about.
Thanks 😊 I talked about Estonian mythology in my "Estonian literature is weird" video, mentioned some Romanian myths in my Lady Dimitrescu video, and had a segment on Slavic mythology in my Wither videos. You can check them out, if you're interested
@@AnnaLeWild Yes, yes, I've watched them! ^^ You know, there's sooo many stories to read and talk about. Even every country, every region has their traditions (ever if they are similar). I remember when I won a historical competition in my high school and I won a book about traditions in Polish regions :3 That was something for me.

Found this video in my 'recommended'. You described the term very well. 😂 You earned a sub from a fellow Magyar. Keep up the good work

There's a whole wiki page for this creature. Me and my friends read it out loud and it was hilarious 😂

As a hungarian I'M DYING!!! 😂😂🤣🤣 I didn't know we officially have that! I thought it's a joke threat! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
There's even a study about it, written by an ethnographer from Csíkszereda
Addendum "grate" is a slang term for copulation. So the owl's intentions maybe romantic. That's all I can say on youtube.
Someone should start making Rule 34 fanarts of this creature. ❤️🔥😳😅🥲
Woah, this was really informative even to hungarians. Thank you for doing the research.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
Ohh Trianon...
Why? Why us?
Great video by the way. Keep up the good work my friend xd
As a Hungarian I only heard of the Zsakosember and I was real scared of him when I was a kid. I didnt ever hear of the copper dick o befote
Yeah, me neither. I heard something about the zsakosman, but the real boogeyman over here was the mumus

Well thx for the video, i just head some részfaszú bagoly joke, and i didn't know that its in our culture
Székelysz being mentioned on RUclips? What the heck? Am I dreaming?
I mentioned them in my Resident Evil Village video too (because there's a Székelykapu in that game)
