......................................
Manchester Scooter boy
...........................................................................
A Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
A Manchester Scooter boy
123, the scene is all here, so ready - steady - go
Were as cool as the Capital - without a marquee or a flamingo
Manchester soul - to the world we did play
And a dance made our own, in our great City - we made it that way
Manchester mods made it that way
A Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
Just a Manchester Scooter boy
My clothes, and my sounds are my way of life
Fred perry, Ben Sherman, Levis and Sta-prest sharp as a knife
fishtail parka and Harrington I wear
make no mistake I wear the right gear
Manchester mods wear all the right gear
A Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
Just a Manchester Scooter boy
Manchester mod - till the day that I die
A mod, a soul boy I live for the high
From Monday to Friday each day a bore
But weekend is different thats when I score
The feeling I get when Im out on a run
And my scooter it shines - it burns like the sun
Im a Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
Just a Manchester Scooter boy
From the smoke and the coal
A Manchester mod
A true northern soul
And nothing comes close when youre out on the floor
Spinning and flipping - dancing all night Im on my way - begging for more
From Salford to Stockport Tameside to Trafford
Wigan, Bolton, Bury and Oldham Too
Northern Soul heaven is here in the North up North like the M62
Va Vas, the Torch, the Wheel, the Cats, the Mojo and Mecca are Famed
But Station Road, Wigan the legendary Casino number one in the world it was named
A Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
Just a Manchester Scooter boy
Manchester mod - till the day that I die
A mod, a soul boy I live for the high
From Monday to Friday each day a bore
But weekend is different thats when I score
The feeling I get when Im out on a run
And my scooter it shines - it burns like the sun
Im a Manchester mod
Tib Street to Deansgate we ride
Gleaming machine, Italian dream
This city just fills me with pride,
Ruby Lounge, Roadhouse, Waldorf Hotel
No rockin and no place to roll
As the Twisted Wheel still spins
To the faithful, the true northern soul
Im a Manchester mod
My scooters my pride and my joy
Im a true Northern Soul
Just a Manchester Scooter boy
From the smoke and the coal
A Manchester mod
A true northern soul

Those were the days my friend, we thought they would never end!
Last time I tried to dance like I used to do in the 70's I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. The mind is willing but the body I am afraid is way past its best.
proud to be part of this so lucky to able say yes "i was there" we all know how special it was and always will be - keep the faith :))))
OMG what can I say, Brings back so many great memories. I never used to dance, then came northern soul down to the south. All nighters on the dance floor. men never danced alone till this came on the scene. Many a bad back turning up for duty on HMS Ark Royal in the 70s. Great Vid.
Cracking vid. Wigan Casino the first few years was awesome!!!. I personally see all Northern Soul followers as Soul Bros that what Keeping the faith is all about. KTF
Wow, gr8 vid, really captures the essence and spirit of Northern Soul. Loved the exciting way vid was cut together to emphasize the excellent dancing especially the footwork, the fabulous music, the style and fashions. Takes me back. Great posting. Keep the faith.
That's the film I always stumble across at bedtime then watch all the watch through (Dead Man's Shoes)
This is great as Northern Soul was about being young and at 50 I now watch and think these kids (this is a good word in the North, Northern Soul kids, Scooter Kids etc...) are really dancing their bits off, good to see...
I think the Moloko Video used in this post and edited this way is way better than the dance scenes in film SOULBOY. Brings some of the EXPLOSIVE excitement that happened back then. All worked up into one mad frenzy of joy!
I was feeling fed-up, not any more. Having a browse around the tube for some kickin tunes and I stumbled upon this. Standing in the kitchen cooking sausage and mash, can't move like I used to, but it's the thought that counts...cheers.
heres the list:
1 Southwind Symphony - Coming Home
2 Theme From The Coloured Man - Teddy Vann Orchestra
3 Elijah Rockin With Soul - Hank Jacobs
4 These Boots Are Made For Walking - Happy Cats
Good Luck!
Feet tappin.....wish I could dance this way.....amazing people! Love it!!!!!
4 stomping instrumentals from the golden era of Northern Soul !!!,.ktf.
watching this just de stresses me so much....and I get the terrible urge to dance!!!
Well since you ask, the "problem" I have with Wigan Casino is that it was largely populated by divvies who wouldn't know a real Soul record if it bit them on the arse, and the stuff usually put up on here as so-called Wigan "classics" - almost ALWAYS started off at other clubs! For the record, I went to both venues and many, many more besides.
Pure Joy!!
respect for the creativity...similar 2 my willie mitchell northern soul dancing.
well done on your expression, ktf
as for keeping the scene alive.lol it will nvr die,not in a million years.

Can anyone remind me who did this instrumental version of "I'm Coming Home in the Morning". I've got the Lou Pride version (one of my fave tunes) but I jsut love this instr! Anyone know where I can buy it?
cheers
SOUTHWIND SYMPHONY - COMING HOME - on GLOLITE Records - its an instrumental version of LOU PRIDE'S - I'M COMUN HOME IN THE MORNUN
Hello, for your information this "blonde bimbo" is Moloko in a clip that she did as a tribute to the northern soul and the wigan casino.
fantastic nights at blackpool ballroom !!!!! Still dancing,,,,
There were other clubs well b4 wigan, but who cares Dance is the drug and still is KTF..... Dexies for me Lol Great Post Top Man......
I was a hardcore mod back in the day and stuck rigidly to the mod/rudeboy/skinhead beat but these soul boys and girls had some fucking classy moves.
@feedkillchain
Hi, I am really pleased to know that you would like to learn the steps to Northern Soul dancing, but to be honest with you, You really have to dive in with that banging beat and make up your own routine. If you look at the RUclips videos you will see that there are the basic moves which you can alter the speed to and then there are front and back drops for the more ambitious, and spinning takes a lot of practice!! I used to to go to "The Casino" and "The Torch" and I am proud.
heheh - the old solacios....had 3 pairs....best shoes for spinning
Blackpool is the place Now !!!!!!! Great nights
Is that the actor Paddy Considine dancing at the beggining??
@jonkino morecambe alnighter the carlton memorys used go bradford scunthorpe be here all night lol good times
here's something to live 4 -- ktf
Theme From Coloured Man" --- Teddy Vann Orchestra (label; Capitol 1967)
Called COMING HOME by Southwind Symphony on Glolite Records GL 92 B and you will probably get it on EBAY or Manships
or folllowing this wth so is the sun ,followed by kg niteliters ,had to be gr8 gr to stump thru them
my feet still get itchy thinkin back to smokies music hall mrecombe from the eighties dusty frm dundee
it's the instrumental to I'm Coming Home In The Mornin' by Lou Pride, to be fair i've never heard this version, its reminiscent of the Ramsey Lewis trio..Lou Pride's band was called The Funky Bunch so it might be them....hope this is of help :)
i can remeber a guy called dess porter from notts dancin to this in about 77 78 best dancer i ever saw any1 no what happened to him lol i no its a gene chandler big shot but if u ever saw him dance u no y im askin
@JimmyScizz Hank Jacob's - Elijah rocking with soul
gywnedd - what makes you think this is supposed to look like Wigan? Nothing will ever capture what the old clubs were like (I was a regular at the Catacoombs/Torch and others). It will be interesting to see what the film Souled out will be like. I like the music on this video and the dancing is good as well. p.s. I like Duffy too.
the worst part of Wigan was the poor unfortunate Addicts whose lives were permanently wrecked due to substance excess, many OD'ed, we all know a mate that never made it through the other side!, OD'ing, a weekly event on the scene, I remember many walking round with their "Home Office" certificate in their hand asking for Chewies, Bombers etc.that was the saddest part of the Casino Scene, but you can't take away the highs....the music, the mates, the dancing, the sweat..F**KING BRILLIANT!!
have to agree with you there mate.....and a good mate of mine was dancing on ToTp.........I never got into the casino without me and the boys being stopped and searched at least once between the car park and the main doors.....there was a fire exit on the right of the doors that was fave of the cops!!! Who gives a fuck, we were all trashed........some got it right some didn't.....same now, same then, same with the Jazz boys in the '30's.
moloko video with the actor who's name i cant recall, is this just a video for the band moloko, or his it a film thats bin made anyone enlighten me..
Lets get this page full of Wolves soulboys from Sedgley, Gornal, Wombourne and Bridgenorth Ktf
Is there a good video on youtube breaking down Northern Soul/Motown/Mod dance steps for beginners? I'm a white American in Nashville and I REALLY don't know anybody to learn dance steps from.
What is the instrumental after Coloured man called?? Awesome
My bro and I were from halesowen - does that count? used to go to Cats wolves every sat ('72 onwards), oldhill plaza, tiffanys long lane blackheath (sun nights after wigan) and many more
I have not got the words.
Hi there on the grapevine label 1977 single the B side is 'You turn me on'
come on whatson + goldie, thing is i was a kid @ casino, but now i'm more than a match for some of the dancers back then, true it went pop'y,and us old 'uns have heard so many tunes that we get selective,ns is a living scene+ like life, it evolves[or should do],everybodies got to start somewhere+ the scene NEEDS new blood to survive ,at 50+,there is only so much reminising i can handle, stop bitching, get dancin+ keep yr mind + ears open ,ktf/skf p
Memories of waiting for Black Power to be played floor filled with Stompers melting the soles of there shoes. And who can forget the faithful 3 before 8
I wish I could be 16 again. But it aint happening but the music still is.
can anybody tell me the b side to Judy Street .What.
any one remember speedy from Bolton
@8mdelcast All the songs are listed at the start fo the video. They go by very quickly so you may have to look at it a few times to get them all!
anyone able to post a track list for this?
@Woo5ter with ye
anyone know the track fro which starts at 4-00 mins please
There were other people on the dance floor????
I was so lost I never noticed......if anyone had had hair like the blondes it would have been stuck to their head with sweat.......good music choice and I'm not sure of the vid.....my Polyveldts and Spencers are trying to get out of the box in the roof!
KTF everyone....I've decided I'm not criticising ANYONE who's keepin the best scene EVER from continuing.........Keep On Keepin' On..........
ps. Green and Clear is the one for me.....
What's the name and group of the first song of the video?
I danced to this in a Competition, as I did a sumersault into the splits, I caught my heel in the cable and disconected the turn table= Bumpber bump, dor to der berrrrrrrr. = total embaresment
I wish I could meet the blonde girl in this Vid. She is so cool.
Hey, anyone know the name of the track at 3:58??
Yeah, but dont you think that stuff like Duffy just keeps the scene alive and creates and breathes new life into it for yet another generation? Ive seen kids of 18 asking for northern soul at my local market, which i thought was great!! I got into the scene myself in the 70's because of "rips" and cheap knockoffs so they have an object value of their own perhaps?
Hey Dave, bighamps can't even walk!
@feedkillchain
search youtube for a guy called minestra3, from japan he has loads of videos up of Japanese soulies learning.
hope this helps, KTF from the UK
think it was the stone manor
@Woo5ter ger to gym ,,,,
I'd so much rather see people actually dancing to the tracks, rather than putting music over video of people dancing.
amazing just get rid of the women in the white blouse pleassssse!
I'm the person who burned down that lousy rat hole Wigan Casino. There. I confess!
(I only wish I'd done the Soul world a favour and done it 8 years earlier)
Well it seems you don't even know the 70s definition of "divvie" (someone who wasn't into SOUL MUSIC as it happens) And obviously it follows that you DON'T actually know what defines a Soul record. Here's a clue - It ain't the much of what post 75 Wigan was playing to it's (largely) teenybopper audience. Glad you go to "Soul do's" Let's hope they play records that are better than you're evidently used to listening to.
I totally disagree.
mmm, i had "really" bad head at stoke mr squad...lol
Happy birthday Paul.
Lots of love
Sallie and Ern
