I live near - in the summer months there is a light display on those city walls, the cathedral and around the old city (les nuits des chimères). It’s beautiful!

Our turbo inlet hose popped its jubilee clip just before Le Mans … found the local FIAT dealer who agreed to help us out the next day … it was around closing time so we parked up on their forecourt, behind gates and plugged into their electricity … all mended next day . Whilst waiting they were preparing a racing Alpha Romeo, which went off on trade plates.
Heading off south after repairs, we drove around part of the 24hrs Le Mans circuit, which is normal roads when not racing. … very smooth sweeping bends ..ideal for getting the back out …

Just to say thanks for your blog on LeMans we are staying in the free Aires tonight loved the old town. The old van full of rubbish is still in the car park lol. Thanks Colin and Julie 😊

I must say, it's a really odd experience watching a visit of my city through the eyes of two other people who aren't from here. I'm a french guy, I was born and lived all my life in Le Mans, so I always knew everything about the cathedral, the ancient gallo-roman wall and all the history behind it (I've been to pretty much all of Le Mans main museums when I was in grade school). But watching you guys discover it and learning it yourself, I felt like discovering it again! It was really funny recognizing all theses places that I know so well while watching your video. If only I came across your channel earlier, I would've come and greet you in person! Great video, love wathcing them!

always a laff rob has similar humour to me,laughed at the rob and lynn sign gag, my wife is a similar size i bought her at a garden centre came with a red pointed hat and a fishing rod..lol, lynn is correct on the way she says le mans i'm a motorsport fanatic love watching 24hr on tv every year , should have took the van down the mulsanne straight and got the back end out all the best on the rest of your journey.... Yah Can't Wack It !!

I’m always intrigued by people slowing down on motorways to look at a car accident or something similar.
To be honest most people don’t have a choice but to slow down as everyone else is 🤷♂️

Loved Le Mans, with regard to the walls I'd guess the lower part is Roman & the upper mediaeval they would originally have had a ballista ( large crossbow) mounted on top of each bastion.
The best example of Roman over here i think is Porchester castle nr Portsmouth built around 280AD the most complete walls in this country.

And they have a pretty good 24 hour motor race in June every year (well except for 2020, 2021 and a couple of years back in the ‘40’s due to the European punchup) I’ve been going every year since 1988, and I agree that cathedral is awesome. There’s a fair bit of history around that part of the city of Le Mans. Plus they have a very good tram system to get around on.
Tickets, camp site and ferry all booked ready for this year, can’t wait for June. Camping right by the track bit noisy during the race, but that’s the atmosphere. Most of the track is normally public road south of Le Mans, the main road to Tours forms the Mulsanne straight where the cars used to do 230mph, they’re pretty close to the same speed again now but there’s two chicanes now. If you’d travelled around that area a bit you might have noticed some yellow and blue painted curbing and four layer Armco barriers, if you did you’ve been on the race track.

Great video again, wish we had time for a look around all those years ago. Only been to Le Mans once. On our way from Salou to Cherbourg on a Sunday with our caravan. Motorways were not completed back then. Only one petrol station open on the outskirts of souilliac on the other side of the road - nah were not doing that (poor decision). Found a 24 hour station in Le Mans with red light flashing about 2 in the morning. Filled up and parked up around the corner

Thank you for this. I visited Le Mans when I went on a French exchange aged 14 or 15. You definitely caught the essence of the place I remember but I wish I could go back now and tell my younger self to take in the architecture and history. I could write a book about 5he 2 weeks I experienced! Could you use spectacular or fantastic or incredible. Take care Gill

That was a fabulous vlog I really enjoyed it, I'm heading back that way so now contemplating staying there two nights, I stayed on that car park last year and it's a great park up although water is ridiculous €8 is stupid, but everything else is fine. Have a safe journey back to the UK it goes too quickly doesn't it ❤️
