Way back in 1986, my (who was 12) and I were invited to meet the Test Match Special team during a test match at Edgbaston. Some (who shall be nameless) hardly gave us the time of day . . . except for Fred, who came us to us, held his hand out and said "I'm very pleased to meet you". We were thrilled to be treated with such kindness by the great man.
I used to smile at Fred’s commentary on Test matches. Often he would comment on something unusual ‘I don’t know what’s going on out there’. Fred, you were the commentator, you were supposed to be telling us what was going on - that’s what you were paid for! But thanks for the memories on the pitch.

Cool glad you could relive the memories and it must have been great to have such a true sporting icon as an uncle, he truly was one of the all time greatest cricketers Don’t forget to subscribe as I have more Fred Truman videos in the vault for uploading at sometime.
Legend!! Hawksbee n Jacobs on talk sport used to regale many of Fred's tales a few years ago and they always finished with ' he was being so blasé I hit him in the mouth!' Classic!!

What a bowler and what a man! I saw him play for Yorkshire against Essex at Romford way back when. We will never see his like again.

30:58 Alas the only player to take 78 wickets for England (in 21 Tests, not 30) was H. Larwood...
When was this recorded? Never heard this before.😅😇😋
brilliant , Fred should have gone into politics
I don’t know what’s going off out there, sometimes
Interesting comment about the pathetic umpiring mostly in Australia. Not surprising that overseas teams were not allowed to win then..
T’was wasted on thee
