There is the rare occasion where I watch both sub and dub if I know the dub's great (used to do that for most anime, now not anymore) but usually it's just one new thing after the other and rewatching only happens to very few select reaction channels on youtube ^^
This is exactly how I feel too. The main reason I’d want to rewatch some of these is because I have terrible memory of them after a long time. There are also some anime that haven’t seen that I read the manga of a long time ago that I’m considering (Yu Yu Hakusho, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, etc)
For me it depends on the length of the show, if its somewhere between 12-26 episodes i could easily rewatch it, if its more that 50 it depends what show it is and what i got in my plan to watch list

I'm glad that Golden Time gets attention here once again because it's a really good show, but I sure as hell would've liked it better if it didn't have all this amnesia and ghost Banri sht.....
the amnesia was fine but the ghost was so poorly executed that it ruined the anime. also the relationship between banri and the main heroine was extremely unrealistic and fast paced
@@Christopher._M I actually really liked the relationship, because it went further than most romance anime I watched prior to it that just end at the confession and never get to develope the actual relationship, it was like one of my favorite parts about the show, I mean episode 4(or 5 don't know) and boom: confession happens. I don't think it's really unrealistic either because even in real life a lot of relationships are "rushed" or "fast-paced" to put it in anime terms xD

Connor is so relatable here. As someone who hasn't watched a huge amount of anime yet, my 3x3 would probably be hella basic, and I'm still in the "what's good???" phase mostly. Darling in the FranXX is the closest I have to a trash favorite, but by my understanding that's baby level trash. I kinda had this issue with both TV and movies where I obsessively only wanted to watch "good" things. I also have trouble rewatching things unless I really love them or there's been a huge gap of time. like, I really would like to rewatch Baccano!, which was one of a handful of anime I watched before deciding anime was cringe and mostly swearing off it for a decade. and Kill La Kill, which I let the Discourse pollute my memory of, until a video essay about it reminded me why I was drawn to it. I'm somewhat encouraged that I've just been able to jump into anime and start randomly watching stuff from my watchlist rather than be intimidated. I think it's because it's painfully clear to me that actually following seasonal anime is psyche-damaging, and I just prefer bingeing, or at least having the ability to watch 3-4 episodes at once. so what I did is I made a list of anime available on Crunchyroll and Netflix I'm interested in, and once I finish one I browse the list until I find another that fits my current vibe, and just vibe my way through.
Exactly! You don't really need to talk about a particular anime just to prove you love it. Most of the discussion comes with anime that has controvery or most people have watched. I love Bakuman and is still my top 1 but I barely talked about it with anyone as there's not much things to be said that won't spoil it and even from someone who have already watched it lol
@@martin-oo4wn But everyone consumes anime in different ways. Some of us genuinely only enjoy shows that are objectively good. Not saying that's me but you can't force someone to put a garbage show on their 3x3 if they didn't even enjoy the show to begin with.

This would probably be my 3x3: Mob Psycho 100 One Punch Man Durarara Paranoia Agent Monogatari Series JoJo's Nichijou Gurren Lagann Assassination Classroom I intentionally did not include any films because I am a massive simp for anything directed by Satoshi Kon, so if I allowed films then over half my list would be just Satoshi Kon. Mob Psycho 100: My personal favorite TV anime. I pretty much just love every single aspect of it, the characters, the music, the plot, the themes, the animation. That's pretty much all I have to say for this. One Punch Man: This is the show that really got me into anime, so I'm always going to give it special treatment. Durarara: I've not seen Baccano, maybe that would replace this if I did but idk. Paranoia Agent: I'm a massive Satoshi Kon simp. I got nothing else to say. Monogatari Series: Probably my favorite coming of age story of all time (yeah I know Mob Psycho is pretty much a coming of age story too, but I don't deal with logic). JoJo's: JoJo's. Nichijou: Funniest shit I've ever seen. Gurren Lagann: Believe in the you that believes in yourself. Probably the most inspirational shit I've ever seen. Ass Class: Idk, I just really like the show. You can think it's boring if you want, but this is honestly just what I like.
I think that sometimes people forget that the boys are friends and are just messing around, teasing each other, not having a serious discussion or "bullying" one another.
Also, without this, Connor's segment would be 2 minutes long because all they'd have to say is "yes, these are universally good shows, moving on...". It's like how Connor, by his own admission, exaggerates his argumentativeness for entertainment's value.
@@calachuch1923 Yeah Connor picked the safest, most inoffensive list. It absolutely is the "look how good and sensible my taste is, nobody could disagree." Remember, if you want Joey and Garnt to respect you, then don't be ashamed of loving an absolute trash show, because, to truly understand and appreciate bad taste, one must have *VERY* good taste.

For me that series might as well be, cause it fulfills the role of keeping me thoroughly entertained anytime I watch it. Shame that DxD season 4 kinda flopped for me, hope that season 5 is better if we ever get one.
i can agree with Connor on rewatching anime it’s just like i’d rather watch something new than something where i already know what’s gonna happen especially if it’s like an emotional anime because i just won’t get that same feeling from it from when i initially watched it
Talking about something and having something as your favourite is really different tho. I have some favourites that i treasure and were really personal to me, then i have the fun ones that are easy to talk about because they are just not too much to think about.
My 3x3 for those who care: D-Frag, Demon Slayer, Death Note, Free, Bunny-Girl Senpai, JoJo Part 3, Dragon Maid, Takagi-san, Fairy Tail 1. D-Frag was a fun and wholesome slice of life with tons of great moments. 2. Demon Slayer’s animation, characters, soundtrack, and Episode 19 all made this one of my favorite shounens. 3. Death Note has one of my favorite cat-and-mouse rivalries in all of fiction and the show has my all time favorite anime soundtrack. 4. Free is special to me because I was on my High School’s swim team and the beautiful animation of Haru and co. swimming reminded me of the days when I was swimming with my teammates. 5. Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny-Girl Senpai is my all time favorite anime mostly because of how much I loved Sakuta and the other girls. 6. Yes, Stardust Crusaders has a lot of issues, but to me, part 3 has the best characters and all the moments of the crew bonding with each other make this my favorite battle road trip anime. 7. Ms. Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is both adorable and hilarious and Kobayashi is extremely relatable. 8. Skilled Teaser Takagi san is also an adorable slice of life with many moments that had me rooting for Nishikata even though he is kind of an idiot. 9. Fairy Tail is fucking awful and I love it. The story is dumb, but all of the characters fighting for each other and bonding are the reason why I love Fairy Tail.
At first I wasn't too sure about some of your choices, but once you explained them it made a lot of sense. Overall, maybe a little mainstream, but still a good list.
Pretty decent taste but watch out for Demon Slayer. The end of the manga (imo) was absolutely horrendous. It may break your heart considering the anime is in your 3x3.

How are they gonna call Conner a Normie when Joey has Clannad, Lucky Star, and YuYu Hakusho on his list. We get it Joey, you’re still in Middle school.
That's the thing, they call it normie but even among specialities there are "normies". There's anime that normies watch (people who don't watch anime except _____) and there's anime that everyone who was into anime watches.
@@NoNoDontTouchMeThere There is none. But its funny how people are like "OMG, Connor is being abused for being a normie" but thats because its all they can do. Tbh putting a guilty pleasure for sake of putting a guilty pleasure is same as putting a consensus masterpiece for sake of putting a consensus masterpiece
@@poppiwp4193 guilty pleasure is there for the sake of " oh look how quirky and weird I am". theres literally nothing bad about not watching trash shows
@@coldfire2753 It's not like that. I think watching trash shows also helps to build up a "good taste", if such a concept is bound to exist. The reason is that there's normally some anime that has marked you for some reason which most people wouldn't actually critically acclaim, or maybe some anime that you feel like is sometimes overlooked. I feel like, no judgement btw, you should kind of throw yourself to the pool instead of showing how "good" your taste is
@@coldfire2753 But how could you define "trash"? It's incredibly subjective, you know. There is definitely one show you haven't yet seen which could actually mark you for this or that reason. Do you define trash as what is not generally praised? I think that is kinda presumptuous. I believe it just narrows your possibilities and doesn't make you experience an experience on the whole. If you only watch what is acclaimed to be good, you will kinda feel hyped and maybe just not feel fulfilled after watching a show for that reason. The same could happen the other way round: maybe a show you didn't expect anything from ends up marveling you, or marking you somehow, even though it might not be critically acclaimed.
Obviously these are all good anime. I'm not blaming any of them for this, but Joey & Garnt could be more descriptive in telling Connor what 3x3 supposed to be. This 3x3 meme is made to spark discussion, to tell people "hey I know not a lot of people would agree, this is what I like." If your 3x3 is all universally good anime, then there would be no discussions to be had. One glance in this 3x3 and I was like "yup, they're all good, nothing to discuss here, let's move on". Again, it's nobody's fault, because by his own admission, Connor doesn't watch a lot of anime, so of course he only watches the good ones (or at least remember the good ones).
There are plenty to discuss about good shows. People don't necessarily dismiss them just because they're good. Connor did nothing wrong, plus I could argue that his 3x3 is very relatable to a lot of anime fans. Garnt and Joey are just being too judgemental.
@@ammaranuar2544 I think it's just that there's alot more interesting ground too cover when trying too explain why you like oreimo rather than explaining why you like critically acclaimed show that pretty much every one already knows is really good. I think they were just expecting some spice and Connors list was almost devoid of it.
Connor has great taste in anime. Joey and Garnt had this weird expectation of Connor to pick some obscure/cringe anime. When he didn't they called him a "Normie."
They didn’t say his taste was bad. They were saying they were all shows that are universally accepted as good shows. Whereas Joey and Garnt threw in some guilty pleasure shows to give the 3x3 more personality instead of looking like a MAL high score list. Also if you paid attention Connor called himself the normie at 1:07 and Joey argued against it being normie.
I noticed that pattern all the time. Like I joke around with my friends too but god damn let the man breathe. They are so judgy sometimes it feels uncomfortable...
@@ardademir1661 it's means the show is trash which is universally accepted but you are trash as well for liking it. It's like the show is trash and you know it yet you want to enjoy it that's why you are trash as well. It was a popular meme an year ago or so
I've seen someone else say it before and with this it still stands true, Connor is that one character that is just completely normal and is surrounded by a bunch of weird people/tastes so his looks weird in comparison. Connor's list is definitely the safest picks, and that's fine, I expected that from him. Only one I disagree with is Sakamoto, I'm with Garnt on this one. I laughed maybe twice through out that entire show.
I feel like there are two types of people, the ones who are unbiased when taking in art, and just see it for what it is, and honestly evaluate what parts of it they enjoyed and what parts they didn't (and that doesn't mean that they can't acknowledge that something has a lot of flaws and love it despite that), and then there are people who can't be unbiased when watching a show and they decide whether or not they like it based off of some preconceptions based on public perception or some other factor, and it feels like Joey and Garnt are more like the latter, they like shows more when they're unpopular, because they want their taste to be unique and to not be boring, while Connor is just honest about what things connect with him. And, of course, anyone has a right to view art in either way, but I just don't understand how Joey and Garnt are acting like it's ridiculous to just be honest with which things are enjoyable to you instead of trying to mold your taste into a specific framework lol
There’s purpose both in rewatching stuff and checking out shit you’ve never seen. Sure, rewatching can be just for comfort, because you know it’s good, but if it’s a really good show you’ll appreciate certain things even more upon rewatching it because your understanding of the art will have improved.
What I don't get how did the others' list have more personality, just because they added one weird one? For me this list says, what Connor actually said that life is a roller coaster, you can be OP as hell but still a loser. Not to mention, Connor is the youngest, obviously oldschool anime hits different today. So he wouldn't put that many as on Garnt's list. For me Joey's list was the most try hard. But that's my opinion.
Dw Connor I feel you, I don't like to rewatch or re-read stuff I've experienced before too. There's so much new content out there to see and possibly learn from, I don't really see the point of re-experiencing something you've seen before. The only exceptions would be content that has a super complicated story that basically requires you to rewatch it to comprehend the entirety of the plot.

That was garnt's whole character arc over the last 10 years, climbing his way up to anime elitism, and then realising that what really sticks to him after all those hundreds of shows is the fact that anime is inherently degenerate, realising that "anime is trash", and so are we, the people that live vicariously through the medium, and that it's okay to embrace said degeneracy in order to embrace what truly makes anime anime.
i think guilty pleasure shows are something that have only nostalgic connection. because the anime itself reminds them of a time when they frst began watching anime, or something that made a significant impact on their life. and i thin connor began watching anime at a late age, so he hasnt had that childish enlightenment from watching any shows ,so he doesnt have any nostalgic connection with any certain anime, and so he doesnt have that one anime that means more to him that just being an anime.
The fact that this shit got 18 likes gives me a good picture of the kind of dudes that comment "poor Connor is getting bullied for having better taste in anime than the other two!!"
I feel Connor, I don’t like rewatching anime either, it feels like a waste of time to me, anime moments I get tho, like I enjoy rewatching different amazing anime moments.
Re: the shows you talk about most being different from your favorites: I completely get this. There are just shows which I love but I don't really have much to say about them other than reiterating how much I love it or generic compliments about how fleshed out the characters are, how well-planned and executed the plot is, the effort that went into the worldbuilding. I could tell you about why I like it in under a minute and if you talk to me about it a second time I don't have anything new to say. But there are also shows which I don't consider to be my favorites or even particularly good that I could dig into for the rest of time. Those two are just not the same.
I agree that as you get older it's harder to find anime you like. I'm old as fuck compare to most viewers at 38. It's not that it's made for kids or anything but the stories get repeditive. I stopped watching anime for the most part for a long time and just recently been trying to get back into a few series. Just more selective than I used to be.
There's a lot more of the same recycled now. I've become even more picky. Finished maybe 5-6 in the last 3 years. Which ones have you managed to get into?
There are definitely plenty of unique anime that come out to watch at least 10 a year I'd say even with picky taste, it's just that you do have to look pretty hard, my strategy is to go on MAL and then read the synopsis of all the shows coming out, if a show sounds interesting, I'll give it a shot, like wonder egg priority (which tbf was shit due to the ending), but sometimes you'll find a unique banger like to your eternity Also gonna add, a show doesn't have to sound unique to feel unique, like a show like re zero, it's plot is pretty basic at first glance, just an isekai with a twist, but looking into it more, the show is extremely character based and can feel unique due to its representation of the characters
Connor getting bullied because he doesnt like niche shows with incest is still one of the funniest moments in the podcast. Also i feel like Garnt really has no right making fun of it because his taste was almost just as normie except he added the incest one
I feel Connor tho. If I already seen something it’s very hard to convince myself to watch it again. The only cases where I’d watch a show again are If I haven’t seen it for a very long time (at least 5 years), If I have only watched parts (One Piece, JoJo, to Love-Ru), there’s a new season coming out and I want to get me up to speed (although most of the time I’ll just skip through it or watch a recap) or if I literally don’t remember anything about the show
I agree with Garnt and Joey. It makes sense why Connor has this kind of taste and it’s because he’s not the biggest anime fan in the world. When you are a huge fan of something you will find those niche things that for some reason resonate with you more than anything else. Anime wise for me it’s shows like Requiem for the Phantom, Sabege-bu, Hanayamata or Higuraahi where you know they aren’t the best but you will defend them to the death. Sports are the same way in the fact there will be certain players that you love for some random reason. Since Connor doesn’t have any of those loves it does make his list seem questionable but it makes sense when you are reminded that he isn’t the biggest anime fan in the world. He’s just the resident MONKE they can abuse on here.
Connor is that vanilla chad who's trying to not offend anyone. Joey is that vanilla okaku who has your most stereotypical "good taste" in anime. Garnt is basically Joey's good taste, but with a hint of personality
The arguments from Joey and Garnt felt so stupid in this episode. So if you dont like some hidden gem guilty pleasure obscure trash anime, your list is suddenly boring and trash ? What? Connor doesnt waste his time with gaarbage shows and I 100% relate to that, as would a lot of other anime fans. I mean no hate towards Joey or Garnt, but they literally felt like those wine sipping anime elitist who look down upon you if you dare to put a well known amazing anime in your top picks. literally their problem is that his 3x3 has no personality to it, like in a way that you couldn't garner someone's specific taste from it. you can't look at connor's 3x3 and go "oh i have recommendations right up your alley"
I don't know why, but as Joey and Garnt having a huge problem with Connor's anime list to be too vanilla and they start to argue while Connor has to defend his list makes me fucking laugh so hard my neighbour had to knock the wall to tell me to be quiet in the middle of the night. @@jqa16 are you seriously judging Connor for liking good stuff over bad stuff
15:26 "so you're complaining that I picked good shows."
"Yes."
Connar is like this: Masterpieces needn’t to be talked about, they are close to perfect. Masterpieces should just be appreciated in silence.

I feel like, no judgement btw, you should kind of throw yourself to the pool instead of showing how "good" your taste is
@@someonesurfingtheweb4799 nah. I don't have time to watch trash shows just for the sake of it. I will rather spend it on the ones I really wanna see
@@coldfire2753 But how could you define "trash"?

If we learned anything from the episode is just because you have "good taste" in anime does not mean you have good taste in anime
Good choice of words.
Joey: “ why would you talk about a show if it’s not your favorite?”
Garnt: *makes 5 videos and talks in lengths about domestic girlfriend*
i think guilty pleasure shows are something that have only nostalgic connection. because the anime itself reminds them of a time when they frst began watching anime, or something that made a significant impact on their life.
and i thin connor began watching anime at a late age, so he hasnt had that childish enlightenment from watching any shows ,so he doesnt have any nostalgic connection with any certain anime, and so he doesnt have that one anime that means more to him that just being an anime.
When i saw that Connor had put Banana Fish I felt soo happy and I don't now why lol
Garnt: HxH shouldn't be there in the list
HxH fans: Kill him!
Bro he never said that HxH is bad. He simply said that it's a show that he didn't expect Connor to like.
The fact that this shit got 18 likes gives me a good picture of the kind of dudes that comment "poor Connor is getting bullied for having better taste in anime than the other two!!"
@@xgullafter9590 there is no such thing as better taste due to difference in opinion.
I feel Connor, I don’t like rewatching anime either, it feels like a waste of time to me, anime moments I get tho, like I enjoy rewatching different amazing anime moments.
Same here bro!
There are definitely plenty of unique anime that come out to watch at least 10 a year I'd say even with picky taste, it's just that you do have to look pretty hard, my strategy is to go on MAL and then read the synopsis of all the shows coming out, if a show sounds interesting, I'll give it a shot, like wonder egg priority (which tbf was shit due to the ending), but sometimes you'll find a unique banger like to your eternity
Also gonna add, a show doesn't have to sound unique to feel unique, like a show like re zero, it's plot is pretty basic at first glance, just an isekai with a twist, but looking into it more, the show is extremely character based and can feel unique due to its representation of the characters
Atleast Connor had overlooked shows like Ping Pong & Banana Fish, Garnt had the most tryhard list.
Welcome to another episode of "Garnt and Joey try to convince Conner he's wrong."
I'm very surprised AoT has not been mentioned in this video. I thought it was one of his faves.
It is one of them, look up Cdawgva's top 30 anime and one of them is AOT
Connor getting bullied because he doesnt like niche shows with incest is still one of the funniest moments in the podcast.
Also i feel like Garnt really has no right making fun of it because his taste was almost just as normie except he added the incest one
And I swear gigguk added that oriemo purposely in order to show his taste is lil different LoL
@@ayanokoji5594 He had One Piece and Your Name. No way he can recover from that.
Oreimo is not niche. How has anime become so popular that people like you consider oreimo niche these days.
@@ParadoX-os one piece is amazing though, and you’re acting like it’s bad he put those two shows on there. “No way he can recover from that”, chill.
@@uatom Enjoy your nostalgia bias. I rather watch a show that does not bore me to death half of the time
I feel Connor tho.

Joey, Garnt: It's not basic, but........
Meilyn: YOU'RE BASIC!!!
Connor all the way
Exactly. Last year I was working, studying my master and going to the gym. The little free time I had was spent watching quality anime. No time to watch garbage incest trash to appease the elitists.
@@MrCharly780 Facts mate
@@MrCharly780
Oreimo appeases the elitists?
Never knew.
literally their problem is that his 3x3 has no personality to it, like in a way that you couldn't garner someone's specific taste from it. you can't look at connor's 3x3 and go "oh i have recommendations right up your alley"
I don't know why, but as Joey and Garnt having a huge problem with Connor's anime list to be too vanilla and they start to argue while Connor has to defend his list makes me fucking laugh so hard my neighbour had to knock the wall to tell me to be quiet in the middle of the night. Maybe i do get easily laugh when people starts argue in videos or I just fucking love these guys.
Garnt and Joey are like opressive parents who tell you "we know you can do better, you need to try harder"
I'm with connor here. I don't talk much about the animes I like most. Coz I just don't wanna take a quarrel about my fav ones. Rather I'll just talk about the trashy guilty pressure animes.
"that's not Guilty Pleasure Joey that's Criminal Pressure" that was a really underrated comment.
I feel like Joey and Garnt are anime hipsters
They are and they're still right about connor. His picks shows 0 personality
@@jqa16 it does. It just means he has a normie personality
They absolutely are. So down the rabbit hole they can't see normally anymore.
@@jqa16 Luckily people don't need to define themselves by anime.
Otherwise basement dwelling incest loving neckbeards must be the most interesting people in the world.
@@jqa16 no incest = 0 personality
Garnt and Joey calling Connor vanilla and has freaking your name and princesses mononoke on their list lol
Connor’s list is the only one that has anime that I’ve seen all of them! He’s got really good taste!
By definition, wine drank during the "Trash Taste" podcast comes from a box stashed in the mini fridge just off camera. :D
In a nutshell:
Joey: Highschooler
Grant: Degenerate
Conner: NORMIE
Okay,, but honestly,, Connor talking about how he doesn't rewatch anime,, I 100% got what he meant. For example,, it's easy to rewatch a movie cause they're only an hour or two long while with most animes,, you have to spend a few hours to watch it all again and since you've already seen it,,, it's really nothing special then. Like,, I love Blue Exorcist,, but I wouldn't rewatch it cause I've seen it already.
I'm kind of the opposite. I just feel like most films are made to be one and done experieces (with a few exeptions of course). But I'll always rewatch my favorite moments and episodes from my favorite anime, since I feel like they're usually made to be enjoyed over a longer period of time.
