It actually makes a lot of sense for, at least the moderately populated and somewhat wealthy individual planets to have some star ship building. While most of the 140-odd nations in the actual world do not have a military industrial complex or a native auto manufacturer. But at least 10% of nations have significant native manufacturing. So, it makes a certain amount of sense that a similar proportion of planets would have some manufacturing capacity, at least to build starfighters or light freighters.
Reminds me of a thought I had recently with companies in Star Wars. With how many only have two or three things they're known for making, I thought of this which is, "For every X-wing there are 20 R-28 starfighters". Never really heard of the R-28? That's the point, it's and Incom Fighter that wasn't as popular as the X-wing. It kinda became well known in-universe, but 100 years after Incom made it. So each company may have plenty of other ships, vehicles, components and other things they made no has heard of.
My personal favorite ship is the Ghtroc 720 Light Freighter. It is from Ghtroc Industries, another lesser known manufacturer. It is 38 meters long with four sub-light engines, two aft and one on each side of the body. It also comes pre-equipped with a Class 2 hyperdrive, and can haul 135 metric tons of cargo and 10 passengers, while only needing a crew of 2 at most to operate. The reason I love it is because of just how much you can mod the thing. Upped armor, better engines, a faster hypderdrive, and a bunch of gun ports both dorsal and ventral. It's a pretty hefty ship for a light freighter, great against pirates and imperial checkpoints. It also looks like a turtle in space. My RPG team had one, and it was named the Atuin. No elephants to go with it, though.
@@bear8696 Nah, not the greatest ship name, but I do still have it: Cigarettes. Had a player that was supposed to be our pilot, but he ended up flaking on us very early on. So we said he went to get Cigarettes and never came back, and that became the name of the ship he left on.
I find it funny that you mentioned Frontier Airlines being worse than Spirit! It was earlier this year I read in Consumer Reports that they rated Frontier worse than Spirit by one (33 verses 34)! I haven't flown on either, but working at the airport, I have joked that Spirit nickel and dimes you so much that they'll soon start charging to use the bathroom mid-flight!😂
Most of the prequel ships are pretty cool but, I've always liked the Naboo's spaceships. It's a Flash Gordon type of design which kinda harkens back to Lucas' original inspiration. One ofnthe many disappointing parts of the sequel trilogy was the lack of new designs.
@@robertnelson9599why do people always flock to the one ugly duckling? While there isn’t as many as I would’ve liked, there certainly are quite a few new ones that are genuinely great! I LOVE your video's focusing on small aspects of culture and ships in Starwars. It is a fun look, you give good commentary, and it's very very helpful with our Star Wars TTRPG
My all time favorite, besides the YT series has always been the Skipray Blastboats used in the corporate sectors if I'm not mistaken. They have a unique design and seem to be quite comfortable in size. If you every do another video of different ships can you give more information on the Skipray Blastboats?
These videos are fascinating. There is so much you don't think about in Star Wars but here so much of it is broken down and shown how it influenced the story in ways we never thought of. And Allen himself doesn't have a loud or bombastic personality but somehow everything he presents is interesting. And every once in a while he throws out a great joke. Like describing the Tarkin Doctrine as "the mad ramblings of an unsocialized sociopath." I drive long haul trucks for a living and I can simply listen to these while occasionally glancing at the screen when traffic is light.
Yeah the way it is presented, you'd think it was for real. I just wish it was. Maybe sometime in the distant future it will be, but you and me will be long gone by then. 😢
I'm surprised MandalMotors wasn't included in the lineup, though they made four different ships like the Lancer Class Pursuit Craft, Kom'rk Class Fighter/Transport, the Fang-class fighter, the M3-A Scyk Intercepter and the HH-87 Starhopper.
Had no idea the Y-Wing wasn't Incom. Neat to know. Still bothered that it's design doesn't include a bomb bay of any kind. Same with the B-Wing not having any clear missile storage despite being all about those proton torpedoes. Also the Hyena bomber. I think the TIE Bomber and Starfortress are the only main-series ones that don't handwave the projectile storage away. Would've liked Rise of Skywalker to have a T-Wing that built on the Starfortress' strength of having a massive payload and absurd firepower (It may have a 0% survival rate, but a single one blew up an entire dreadnought, so you gotta give it credit for firepower) while also making it a lot lighter and more practical (honestly I think in TLJ they should've been repurposed cargo haulers, since the 0% survival rate doesn't seem like something most militaries would be comfortable with). Split the difference between it and the B-wing, have a less bulky, more bladelike center, but use the whole thing as a giant magazine for a whole lot of proton torpedoes or bombs. It would also be something cool for Rose to do/have done as a sort of love letter to her sister who died on the originals. Also, the Sequel Trilogy desperately needed original ship designs.
As for the Y-Wing not having an visible bomb bay, it's a fighter bomber, equivalent to the IRL F-15 E. Would it be nice if they showed where the ordinance was stored? Sure. It's not, however, carrying large payloads, so it doesn't need a large bomb bay.
@@MrSJPowell Yeah, but, the F-15E has a whole lot of hard points that the Y-wing doesn't have, and we've got schematics of the Y-wing on the star wars website that show it's really just all machinery in the center. I'm not saying it has to be a dealbreaker for anyone, it's just always going to bother me. The B-wing's gigantic wings could also be covered in missile hardpoints as well, though the folding would limit their placement a lot. That being said, external missile hardpoints aren't really Star Wars' jam.

Had to nearly take them to court to get my refund for the tickets I purchased from the other airline 3 hours before the flight was leaving for 4 people.).
You know, I almost picked up a nice, clean, N-1 (for weekend fun), but I was turned off on the cost of spare parts. It's a shame, really. A real shame.. Who knows, maybe one day.
Hey got a quick couple of questions. Titanfall factions vs different Star Wars factions, but then after that which factions would you put together like IMC Empire, GAR Clones with Militia
The N1 Starfighter would have been a great pre Clone wars Jedi Knight ship for missions. Strip out the electronics that a Jedi doesn't need, in order to make it a bit lighter, and it's ready to go. ..... Do Jedi fighters deliberately omit some features so that non Force sensitives will have a harder time flying them away? Like how a manual transmission will stump many modern casual car thefts.
Unpopular opinion but im really not a fan of the Mantis. Like i respect the fact that you can pick it out of a line up and say 'yes thats a star wars ship' based on the goofy design but im just not a fan. That rotating wing seems more trouble than its worth.....its not as bad as the Twilight though.
I never could understand how the Mantis Stinger could land on a planet. Its landing gear is all in the back of the ship, how did it not tip over in the front? Repulsor lift? most of the weight of the ship is in the back so it acts like a fulcrum? Why do Naboo pilots wear those heavy robes while flying? It seems to me that they'd just get in the way
Hear me out, if naboo was worried about their SPACEcraft being environmentally friendly why wouldn't they just build some space stations and keep their fighters outside the atmosphere? Then just use environmentally friendly airspeeders inside atmosphere (NX police cruiser).
It goes without saying that KOTOR is the greatest Star Wars video game ever made, that said, I would also go so far as to say that its the greatest video game I've ever played.
Passenger capacity generally don't take over-crowding into concideration, but normal fare. A ferry listed as 2000 passangers could be overloaded with 10.000. Those transports arent large enough for 30.000. Its a matter of internal volume. The lower hull slims down. They are large, but not 30.000 passenger large. Not even 10.000 passenger large, unless you over-crowd them.
Somewhere in this reality is a really old human or alien that swears by something like these as "greatest ever" cuz its their favorite ship ever regardless of whom makes it. Gotta disagree with the N1.. they should had something adept at air support. It's critical even in the real world.
