Corvette represents American interpretation of classic British sports cars, done with American drivetrain and flamboyant GM styling, like the patina, cars can age like a fine wine, nice showing Lou!

Wow Lou, this one hit very close to home. My first car was a white 1959 Corvette blue and white interior. I bought it in 1974 when I was sixteen years old for $1500. If I told you who sold it to me you wouldn't believe it, suffice it to say you would know the name. It was in Los Angeles and my buddy and I rode the Hound down to pick it up in August of 1974. We headed back up to the northwest which would turn out to be an adventure that would take hours to fully appreciate. I kept it for seven years and sold it for a handsome profit to help fund my first home purchase. I sold it to a friend of a friend who still owns it to this day. He has been an excellent steward and I'm pleased he kept it. I own a number of collectors but had never bought another Vette until I surprised my wife with a low mileage C5 last year that she lets me drive on occasion.

Hi, Lou! Dean sure was having fun driving this ol' Vette, and he didn't seem to care too much about his beard blowing in his face or the 39-degree air! BTW, if this had been a 1963 or later, any trunk and treats would have been just "treats"! "Officer, nice to see you!" LOL! It's great that his father was able to keep it in the family for so long. Obviously there was a reason he couldn't sell it! Thanks to both of you for taking us along for the ride!

What a satisfying 11 minutes and 44 seconds after sorting through the regular morning news _ Got to love the 62 yr old paint & interior too, right? _ Guess that engine was another 283 cu.in.? - with those nice solid lifters _ IF that had been my Dad's "c-o-r-v-e-t-t-e" and now mine you'd have to pry my hands off the steering wheel to get me to give it up _ but that's just me. . . :>)

Neat survivor. This is my Dad's favorite Corvette body style. I had to share the video with him. He really enjoyed it. I like that this one is not over done or customised too much. A mild small block and some good sounding exhaust. It would be a tight fit for me too in the driver's seat, but I would sure figure a way to make it work. Does he still have the original block for that car? The numbers matching block? Looks like if his Dad had that other engine put in it, the one that was already built, more or less, then he would’ve kept the original block, you know? Especially his Dad being a car guy, having a car dealership in Elgin. Just wondering Lou, in case someone else is interested! But fantastic automobile!

I don't know why, but the late years of the original C1 generation of the Corvette always looks nicer than the initial '53-'55 model years. But it is very impressive that '59 is kept in such good condition for that long. I almost never find old cars in that kind of shape aside from old people who take classic cars very seriously (I'm a younger classic enthusiast in his 20s).

Hi Cindy, There is this thing going on called COVID. Pretty much model Railroaders are guys much older then me who are REALLY freaked out by "Visitors" now stopping by there model train layout. So when I find Model Railroaders willing to let me in, and then their layout has to have "smoking hot" scenery, then you'll get the chance to see more model trains, Lou

Great story by Lou as usual. I had a '58 and a 69. But that 58 was the one that had girls (all around it where ever I went) but it was the car. Not me. Guys making girls because of their cars is highly exaggerated.

Lou, I can't believe you bent the pages on the man's owner's manual like that. I would have been so pissed off. Man, you wouldn't get within ten feet of my Vette.

Michael, I'm very careful with other people items, however if you felt I bent the pages, I guess I won't be seeing your Vette anytime soon.
