top 10 most cruel pranks in anime
They really outlived their purpose halfway through episode 2. Palpatine really kept them sound for comedic purposes
My favorite part was from the novel:
Nute: "Lord Sidious promised we'd be handsomely rewarded!"
Anakin: "I am your reward. Am I not handsome?"
@@muigokublack6487 I believe that was Shu Mai saying that, and not Nute Gunray.
@@generaljashin8067 Was it cause there was another line I liked too.
"Lord Sidious promised to leave us in peace!"
"The transmission was garbled. He promised to leave you in pieces."
I always forget how Nute Gunray is practically the main antagonist of the first movie, and then he's moved so far back in the following two
I always forget he's in Revenge of the Sith because of how small his role was in that movie
It makes sense when it comes to Sidious's plan, though. All he needed the Trade Federation for was to fund the Droid Army. Once that happened, pretty much every corporation he "worked with" were just figureheads for the CIS while he was the one actually pulling the strings.
@@TheMountainMan-wz8xf And the Techno Union for the Super Battle Droids
@@stomper1232 What was the one who built their ships?
From a certain point of view, the Jedi are the antagonists this episode. Gunroy was just a businessman conducting a tough trade deal.

@@berberbro Yo, I watched the TPM yesterday in the the theatre and realized the trade fed fellas literally murder people right after questioning the legality of something lol
hey, the senate HIMSELF told them to do it
I honestly feel sorry for them, it's clear through their dialog that they know they're being forced into something that's too far for their liking.
Ultimately the Trade Federation wanted to make money, even if they exploited people. Still, never to the extremes of escalating to galactic war. Sideous controlled them through fear, and greed. Kowtowing to evil led to their downfall.
I don't think they were forced into it. They were greedy and didn't want to pay taxes that's why they set up the invasion of Naboo...
They got involved with Sidious cause they were greedy.
@@Digital111 Well that part I can pin the tail on cause, well, you're right; what I meant to say was starting a galactic war is probably too far for them. It's one thing to be a economic powerhouse in The Republic, but to actually *BE* The Republic is a WHOLE other thing.
@@Digital111the republic had no standing army, no healthcare or social services. I'd be pissed too about paying taxes
@@tomassmith2088 I'm sure George Lucas had exactly that in mind when he wrote Nute Gunray.

That transition around 7:22 afterward, though...
It spooked the brains out of me for sure, especially with headphones.
Fitting that their role in this franchise stretched across 3 movies could be condensed into 12 minutes. They really served no purpose other than being pawns
And being memes
That was kind of the whole point though to portray Palpatine playing both sides. Not to mention the parts in Clone Wars.
Just like tarkin, countless others yeah. Who ISNT minipulated by sidious??
Somehow Palpatine played them

7:40 i think Nute Gunray and Rune Haako are the only separatist leaders to meet Palpatine/Sidious without knowing ho he really is. Except Grievous.
Didn't Tyrannus knew too?
They were the first to know. That’s why Palpatine wanted them wiped out in episode 3
Its possible they knew. They seem Sidious and could easily put the two together
@@JohnnyEFromNC No, they didn't. Palpatine wanted them killed because he wanted the war to be over.
Couldn't have any separatists left. He also asked for the droids to be deactivated for this reason.
The only two people on the shows and movies who knew he was a Sith Lord was Dooku and Mas Amedda.

I've always wondered how the Trade Federation were put under the Rule of Two's thumb, it has always been one of the few things in Star Wars that has always interest me.
The novel _Darth Plagueis_ went into the beginning of their relationship with Sidious. It's no longer canonical, but it fits just about perfectly with Canon anyway.
Sidious bought Gunray a pet bird
@@PerovNigma Also Cloak of Deception
I don't think there's a current Canon explanation yet, but the story behind it in the old EU was basically that thanks to Plagueis' insider position in the corporate sphere, Sidious found out about Nute Gunray, who was both ambitious and cowardly (even by Neimoidian standards). Through a combination of intimidation and favors, he got Nute Gunray as his inside man in the Trade Federation, and through a lot of trickery and murder, propelled Nute up to the top. Because he's both afraid of Sidious and knows Sidious is why he has his position in the first place, he knows to do what he's asked
@@BroadwayRonMexico In fact the concept that the Neimodians are cowardly and ambitious is wrong. Like the Muuns and Skakoans they were placed under this injunction to justify their post-war massacres in 19 BBY, and so that the Republic could isolate these worlds. The Neimoidians have a culture of calculation and business, until the assumption of Gunray and Dod, violence was not their business. Many Neimoidians were brave as evidenced by Cato Neimodia's Royal Guard, and the Neimodian soldiers on Federation ships. But the characters presented created these concepts, unfortunately there are few examples of brave Neimodians in the Star Wars Canon.
1:56 personal time stamp pay no attention to it
Gunray’s accent starts to become less prominent in each subsequent film.

Not harmless. They’re cowards
They just want profit, they arent really eevviiiiil
Once you learn the history and government system these fellas are from, they're far more twisted than they first appear.

He's not the only one who made these movies come to life.
When I first saw Phantom Menace as a 9 year old, I couldn’t figure out why I had no clue what the plot was…now I know it’s because it’s all politics/trade, and what 9 year old is gonna know what the hell’s going on?? What the fuck is a “vote of no confidence”? What’s an ambassador?

if you refuse to pay attention to the plot your never going to be able to properly understand the movie.
@@Replica_Films2000The movie is incomprehensible garbage. There is no sense trying to defend it.

When you realize that the entire plot of the first movie, minus anything to do with Anakin, was orchestrated by Palpatine just to make himself supreme chancellor so he could move on to Phase II: start a galaxy-wide war that the Jedi would become hopelessly entangled in.
