Rose Tico cost about $3 US dollars to import from China. On sale for $2. Disney is an evil corporation. Plus children in Africa need food, not ugly asian little boys to play with.

@@chupacabra9357 The process to prepare items to become raw materials for recycling is similar to this. First they need to shred them then they go through processes that separate the various kinds of elements in it. I think it would be pretty funny to have things made of recycled Ticos and Reys.

So true. The literal last SW figure I purchased many years ago was "Dengar" from the "Vintage Collection" put out in 2010. I have one carded and another loose with my storage case full of classic figures from 70s and 80s and all of those put out before and a bit after the prequels. Dengar was truly the last, best figure put out by Kenner IMO. The facial details are a masterpiece, especially the eyes. After him, all the figures took a nosedive in quality, coming out cartoony and ugly. I used to love looking at and getting the latest figures back then. There was hardly one that didn't look good. Now they are pure junk and deserve to be ground up in the machines.
Disney didn't care about making a good Star Wars movie. They didn't care about fans or toys or being faithful to the legacy of George Lucas. Bob Iger cares only about branding and including Star Wars in his Disney empire. Kathleen Kennedy cared only about her stupid politics. JJ Abrams only cared about being attached to Star Wars without having to do anything to ride the hype and Rian Johnson only wanted to burn it all to the ground. Go Team Disney!!!!!

When I was a kid, I was overjoyed to get a Commander Neyo figure. (Still have him) A character we see for a few seconds where he says nothing and guns down a jedi on a speeder. Compare that to now. On an unrelated topic, I wouldn’t mind the helicopter Avatar toy. The figures take them or leave them but the vehicles from the toy line weren’t half bad. Still have an AMP suit.
Also Star wars toys where VERY detailed and the paint job was top quality. Now they look like low tier super hero toys

I really want somebody to tally this formula: How much more money Star Wars would have made in toy sales had they continued to sell at pre-TLJ levels. I want them to produce a big fat number, shove it all over the place, and underscore the point that Rian Johnson (with Kennedy's full blessing, thanks to their shared political goals) didn't just cost Star Wars its past, present, future, and biggest fan (Mark Hamill himself), but also this chunk of change which could be half a billion dollars.
Those Black Panther costumes didn't sell because parents were afraid of being called racist if there kids were the wrong color.

Well it's not really Disney merch since they just licence it to other companies but they charge so much for that license that what is the discounted price in this video should be the actual price. You see this with Hasbro selling 3.75inch action figures for their own owned brands for $6.99 new compared to the $12.99 for star wars and marvel figures.
Since it doesn’t sell at any price then they may as well price it high and pretend to have brand value for their fragile egos and dumber investors.

I used to work for an incinerator company, (yeah thats actually a thing) and we had contracts with multiple other companies to burn their old/expired stock. Toys, clothes, shoes, drugs, film, you name, we burned it. I saw tons of brand new clothing from the Gap & Old Navy (price tags still attached) get incinerated.
That’s when you grab a shirt you like out of the bag, what are they gonna do weigh the ash?

Kiyoshi Kirishima unfortunately yes. We collected toys for a drive. Not much but enough to make a difference in some kids lives. One of the kids there said oh no more garbage Star Wars figures. After which he got a slap in the head from what I presume to be his mom. Good for a healthy chuckle.

Ace's Adventures did a video last week at an old vintage strip mall that had an Ollies in it and I remarked about the Walmart and Target exclusive Star Wars stuff Jeff filmed at the other ones. Rose Tico on Clearance for $1.99 at...The Disney Store? That absolutely blows my mind.
That footage at the end -- of all the toys being put through a shredder -- was just depressing. People spent goodness knows how long making those things, only for them to collect dust and eventually be destroyed.

As someone who dislikes what Star Wars has become in the last few years, the footage of the merch just being destroyed by the pallet was extremely cathartic.

I bet hobbyist could use the on sale Star Wars figurines, as a base, to make cool custom characters, from other franchises...
A Walmart here had Captain Marvel stuff in clearance too. They broke protocol and kept it on the shelf past when they should have donated it. After 3 months, they eventually gave up and donated it to charity. It was that same gauntlet thing he had here.

That’s what I was thinking too. Keep the Rey off of it and use the base for someone actually cool.

@@Sablus Yup, I feel really ashamed about the amount of plastic junk toys from my childhood I through away. I sware, unless it is something universal like HotWheels or LEGO, my kids are not getting whatever toy of the month they ask for.
Oh god and McDonald's Happy Meals have got to be the worst! Sure I got a few HotWheels cars that are nice, and back in the day they actually had real LEGO parts in them, but so much useless "action' figures for whatever new movie was about to release that no-one even remembers now.

Personally I've never seen the appeal of action figures and have always been amazed they sell at all. Transformers are pretty cool, but even then mine usually just stayed in vehicle mode and got driven around.
