It seems that a lot of Chinese ex-pats worked in the tin mines. So these mine must have been a huge mixture of Chinese martial arts both Northern, Southern, Hakka, Internal and External styles. Hopefully someone has collected the histories of these original masters of Malaysian Gung fu.

Botak, what makes you think Yip Kin WC cannot fight MMA? It is not the MA but the practitioner. Yup Kin MA us just as effective. Every practitioner regardless of MA needs to be fit with good stamina to last and the body need to be conditioned to take hits. There is no easy way out regardless of art. These two factors are one of the most important.

If you are looking purely for fighting effectiveness this dude probably can’t teach you that. Reason is because of the training. All theory and demonstrations but lacking in strength conditioning and application

Actually i used to learn wing chun with master Yip fok choy about 5 yeard ago and Kahar was also one of the main instructors there. However before i learn wing chun im actually already a professional combat athlete.
My professional opinion is that if a MMA practitioner vs a wing chun practitioner (given that they are on the same fitness level) a pure wing chun practitioner would probably be Koed in less then 3 minutes because its just not practical for combat.
However i still continue learning various Chinese martial arts such as taichi not because of combat but because of keeping my own Chinese cultural heritage alive.
Feel free to reply if u doubt my story and i can give u more details if u need

NL, what MMA you are talking? TKD with boxing? Or boxing with Muay Thai or Letwei with boxing? Rules vs no rules?
If a certain person practice WC with running mikes everyday, kicking hard bags and slamming their hands and elbows against wooden dummy, doing hundreds of sit-ups and harden belly being punch they can be just as good as MMA fighters. It just that traditional Chinese MA focus on stance and forms.
My opinion is once they learned the forms, how do you break it down and apply it in real fights. There is no such thing as one punch you are done. In a fight there is kicks and punches until one’s drop and sometimes continue fighting even on the ground. There are weakness and strength in every art. No one perfect art. You adapt the art that fits you best to your defense and attacking arsenal. I can tell you I can perform a Pak sau and fire a punch that you can’t block fast enough. I am in my 60’s. I tried that with different MA practitioners and successful hit the target before they can block. You want to try?

Sorry my friend but there is too much emphasis on image. I just don't see how you would dominate/beat a real fighter in hand-to-hand combat. Fight some real fighters and beat them, then I'll tip my hat to you.
