    Fantastic achievement for a young man to be in a position to build himself and his family a house like this.

    Nothing like the satisfied feeling of having done everything yourself - knowing it’s all been done right! Unfortunately it also means that when you find bits that other tradesmen (who are working without the emotional attachment that you’ve built up) have butchered, you get the rage too! Ah well, still a cracking house!

    That fuck up with the sparkies is why I put tile vents in now, saves coring out or putting them stupid vents in in soffit, I allways like to make sure I have the soffit sat right over the brickwork so it’s just touching the cavity and fire loads of soldiers on top so it can’t lift if anyone tries to do something similar

    I Work in the roof tile industry and the new build looks ok apart from a roofing observation on dormers.I personally would have tile cladding on dormer cheeks instead of weather boarding.. ..

    Hey Rodian, when you were putting the guttering up, I noticed that you have a lot of trees surrounding your build - might be an idea to look into those hedgehog style gutter fillers to stop the leaves filling them up, whilst you still have the scaffolding insitu!?

    Hi R !, i’ve watched many of your vids. Especially the ones directly concerning the house and one thing I’ve always thought to myself and you’ve probably been asked this before ....
    the sandstone/subsoil shear face (result of the site strip I guess! )to the right hand side of the building -what have you got planned for that i.e. retaining wall or will it self-support ?!?!

  • @jonocroft4766

    Did you allow for a gradient in the guttering, if so did you use a level or just measure off the fascia?

    • @dannymassive
      @dannymassive 4 года назад

      I might be wrong but it looked like he measured down from the top of the facia and put the pencil marks on the boards at the right fall from end to end, then used a string line between the two ends to fix the brackets in between.

    • @daverogers6443
      @daverogers6443 4 года назад +1

      99% off all houses in the UK have plastic guttering, and not just older houses, we use it on new buildings even now. Never seen an issue on guttering fitted 15+ years ago, poor joints, poor fitting or sagging due to not enough clips in the first place might cause issues but never seen a failure due to weather or temperature I.e cracking or splitting.
