How to fix a stuck open fuel injector

Mine wouldn't open with all the Carb cleaner and pressures attempts , for hours. Finally, when I gave up, I decided to boil it with water for 5 minutes. Right after boiling, it started clicking when power applied. It opened. The amount of dirt that came out of it was shocking. I am replacing all 8 soon anyway. For now I got rid of the misfire in Cyl 2.
That is crazy. Its amazing how dirt gets into the injectors.

Boiling huh poor mans success stories are amazing. I’m cleaning my to get me by for 2 weeks till I can get new ones in. New is the answer but this will fix an injector. Just don’t trust it with your life
Question if stuck open then that would cause a no start condition as fuel pressure won't build? I can toggle key a few times then start but have to do that all the time.
It could but the injector will start spraying fuel instantly and continuously until the key turns off. So it could be flooding it out. I would check the plugs to see if they’re soaked. My car was on the verge of hydro locking because of the amount of fuel.
@ProZacksProjects replaced the injectors and no more issue. Plugs are new and wires. Did full engine cleaning and tune up and all gaskets except the head. Checked all griunds I could find checked the fuse box for main cable corrosion and looks good. The starter has been beat from all the cranking so it grinds some times so that will be replaced soon enough. I tested the injectors once they were out 4 if the 6 were leaking. I used a sonic cleaner and soaked them in seafoam for 15 minutes and then boiled them for 8 minutes lubed the orings and put them back together retest and all are working great again so I have a set of injectors as spares.
I somehow damaged the wirehsrness to the iat sensor. Old van possible brittle wire. So once I get that sorted my idle will be resolved and then onto the brakes and exhaust repairs. But glad it starts right up. UPDATE idle is solved vacuum line was not leaking but the hose was sucked close. Added new rubber line and solved.was hard to find as it wasn't seen. The line to throttle body.

Update my problem is back and don't understand why. As it ran fine for a few days and started right up. On the fuel rail there looks to be a metal cap maybe a valve. If so is that have an o-ring that could lose pressure and if so is it removable? I don't want to blame fuel pump just yet. UPDATE I turned the valve and feel like a rubber orange but nit getting g and change no matter how many times I turn it and hope it helps. But if it's bad it will be failure the whole time assuming. Now to find the part number to match. And is it a simple pull up and out? If someone see sthis and knows...
Haha I dropped mine on the ground on accident and it started working so I cleaned it and works like a champ.
Hello so if I spray it thru top end with no power and if blows straight thru that means injector is stuck open ? And the only time it should spray thru is with power on it is this correct ?
That is correct. The injector should be closed until power is applied with cause it to open.
How did you let it soak overnight? Just the bottom of it? Also looks like you let it soak in the b12 chemtool?
I filled up the top of the injector, stood it up in the cup and let the bottom half sit in the cleaner, and yes it was b12 chemtool
You used wd40 to clean it or injector cleaner ?

do you think lack of fuel pressure could cause an injector to stick open??
I don't because the other 5 were working just fine. It took a bit of work to get it to close, and once it did then it started working like normal and I've put probably 15k miles on it since then.

@@ProZacksProjects So what was the stuff in the fluid at the end? Was it rust? Is it the stuff that stuck the injector open?
@@Michalbor2 yes it is. Sorry I didn't see your comment. I plan on replacing them but it's all working just fine.
@@spolo123 I'm not totally sure. It might be rust and some other stuff from some bad fuel or something. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Forgot to add I was going to boil mine after soaking in seafoam but your method will be on my list if that's my problem.

Who's had to deal with a stuck injector before?
Pretty sure I'm dealing with it right now on a WV 2.0 TSI engine. Just replaced the intake manifold a month ago and now it's flooding cylinder 1 with fuel.
@@TheStuntViking that's unfortunate. Mine was dumping so much fuel I'm surprised it didn't hydro lock it. I hope this helps you.
I put cheaper reman injectors on my 4runner. with a new fuel filter. one right out of the box was stuck open, they warrantied it, ran fine again then months later another one stuck wide open on a road trip. I'm throwing them away and buying OEM from Toyota, and a new Denso fuel pump and regulator. I'm tired of this crap. I'm lucky my compression and piston hights still are fine. throwing in some atf in the cylinders and changing the oil for the fuel wash. don't buy GB reman injectors
Good grief, that's pretty ridiculous. I appreciate the heads up. That'll keep your toyota running like a Toyota.
@@ProZacksProjects yeah I learned my lesson not to cheap out on parts haha. for sure it's only got 160k miles looks like the original fuel pump so might as well do the whole fuel system as a preventative.

Easy buddy I heard him what exactly did you want a loud clear play by play watch the video take out bad injector clean it out with spray and hit it a few times to free up stuck open pintle type valve that was probably just stuck in open spray position due to dirty fuel and causing a soaked cylinder and possible misfire rough idle etc
