    I treated my ex like a queen. I gave her everything she wanted, and more, but it wasn’t enough. Finding out that she was cheating on me was utterly devastating. The hardest part to accept is that she was in her 50’s, and sleeping with guys in their 30’s. Not because they were younger guys, but because I figured a 50 year old woman wasn’t capable of this. 6 years down the drain, but a valuable lesson learned. Dale valskov is very calming and your insight is invaluable.

      That’s not true, even if you click on the Bluetooth button in the control panel it doesn’t really turn off. It just looks like you’ve turned it off (it change from blue to white).
      To really turn it off you have to go into your settings and completely turn it off there. You can only do that in the settings app. Bluetooth is the only thing where it is like that and many don’t know that.

      It does something, but some people don’t understand that and think if you do it in the control panel it’s completely turned off, but it’s only standby. I’ve seen this many times (not phones, but general) for example the Nintendo switch. If you hit the power button it doesn’t turn off, it goes on standby/energy saving.

If a known device wants to connect the phone notices it and turns on bluetooth by itself. But if you're not trying to pair anything it'll stay on standby till tomorrow. It's actually really smart

    • @benargee
      @benargee 2 месяца назад +13

      Airplane mode is for airplanes. Bluetooth and WiFi have no negative implications on an airplane. Only a cellular connection might be problematic for cell tower networks when you are elevated and can connect to too many at the same time.
      They should have a new mode called radio silent or something if you actually want all transmission to be stopped.

    • @MrSlowestD16

      @@benargee
      Cellular radios ever since airplane mode became a thing never interfered with VHF airline frequencies, it started as and always has been purely precautionary. In theory there should be no interference.
      So saying BT and WIFI "don't count" is an empty statement, none if it ever counted. Nah, airplane mode should disable everything broadcasting.

    • @MrSlowestD16
      @MrSlowestD16 2 месяца назад

      @@mydashguy They only ask you to turn these things off for take-off and landing, so "why turn it off just to have it turned on again" doesn't make sense, because that's exactly what they request you do.
      The power isn't really any different (sometimes it is), both some phones and BT operate in the 100-ish mW range. Some go to 200 for cell data though. But the frequencies at those higher power levels aren't even close to VHF, so it isn't relevant, even when you stack them on top of one another.
      Fact of the matter is that there's no legal definition of airplane mode that manufacturers need to adhere to. The reason Apple does this is because they know people are fuckin stupid, and somebody is going to come into the store and ask why their shit doesn't work when they're in airplane mode. That's the only reason, user experience. And to that end, they're probably right.
      There was never any real concern for this, it's just a "what if" scenario - always has been.
      Also, I do turn my phone off, I have no need for it at 35k feet. But I also don't have an iPhone. When I set my phone to airplane mode, it's actually off, lol.

    You used to be able to turn off Bluetooth and WiFi from control panel I think back at iOS 9 or 10. Then the "geniuses" made things more difficult than they had to be by making you go into settings to turn off for sure, instead of "turning off till tomorrow" bull crap. It’s a stupid feature that Apple added several years back. It’s so annoying to really disable BT and this was one of the first things that popped in my head, an attack for someone who isn’t very tech savvy. They should’ve at least added a flag to allow it to turn off always when you tap it from control center in an advanced settings screen.
    And yes I’m aware of all of the ways to disable this easily from control center, Siri, shortcuts, voice control (with an accessibility hardware shortcut to enable), etc etc. Point is that they always make these MS security moves where they think nothing will ever happen. Like the calendar invite attack that they had to eventually disable and now macOS doesn’t have that flag and it isn’t documented anywhere why they took it off (because it won’t auto add anymore).

      that's a weird stance to take
      the bluetooth annoyance isn't a dealbreaker
      i've owned multiple android phones and my most recent one was a piel eight (idk why my previous "interaction" was thanos snapped, maybe because of the negative reception i gave it)
      it had ton of bugs, issues, and just not a pleasant experience
      now that, is a dealbreaker
      i stuck it out for 2 months (used it for leisure, work, navigation) and switched over to the 13 pro
      i have used and still have:
      galaxy a14, galaxy a53 5g, galaxy s10e, and piel four A
      the s10e in my opinion felt the most smooth out of these and even compared to the piel eight, but hate the samsung UI

    Silly question:
    For an airline flight why not remove the battery for check in, then reinsert (optional) when fully boarded on yer aircraft and seated. That's what I do, I do not see it as an inconvenience though.

    Bluetooth disabled or Bluetooth disabled through Control Center very big difference because control center only disconnects everything for short periods of time unless it's an Apple product.....

    If you'd ask Apple they'd say that it's so your Bluetooth devices connect quicker once you turn it back on. In reality it's to widen their airtag coverage and to track your location even in airplane mode.

    I've hated how the IOS switched the control center buttons from toggling the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth completely off to just in "standby," which allows things like this to happen. You think you turn off the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but later find out you have not. It is very deceptive.

    Wifi doesn't "stay on for whatever reason." If you had it on the last time you were in airplane mode, then it stays on by default the next time. If you had it off the last time, then it goes off.

    You have to always check the iphone Bluetooth multiple times a day, especially first thing in the morning because it likes to automatically turn itself on without authorization and it seems to be an embedded OEM feature because there seems to be no way to disable the auto-enable function for iphone Bluetooth.
