- YOU HAVE TO SEE The Actual Woodworking Tools I Used When I Was A Kid
I recently came across the Handy Andy Children's Woodworking Set I used when I was a kid.
I haven't really examined this thing in 30 years, so I wanted to share this experience with my viewers. I even decided this kit needed a few upgrades to make it more useful for today's children.
Then for some stupid reason, I got my lawyer involved. She had a lot of issues with what I was going to name my new tool set.

These are a few different models of children's safety glasses Amazon carries. I have not tried them, so I cannot speak to if they are good or not. If you order one and try it, let me know how it goes:

Remember, if they aren't comfortable on your child, check to see if they are fitting properly. If they don't fit properly, they probably won't protect very well.
Disclosure: These videos are for entertainment only. Woodworking, leather working, and gardening can all be dangerous. Sharp tools, especially when attached to power tool can be dangerous. Always seek professional advice and training before using any power tools and sharp hand tools. If you have any uncertainty before performing any procedure, stop and learn a safer method. Do not attempt any technique simply because you saw it in one of my videos. And if you don't know how to safely and properly use these tools, don't even try to teach a child to use them. Children should always be supervised when using tools by an adult who knows how to use these tools and can stop the child from getting hurt. I remember having this as a kiddo some interesting memories
@karimsukkar7398 it definitely was a lot of fun
There is a metal ruler in the picture, it is in the top near the saw. These kits were great for teaching kids how to work with their hands and brains. They should be brought back.
@revann33 that metal rule is apparently long gone. 🤣🤣🤣 I think I did see a Stanley set online when I was doing my research.
I had something very similar to this. I got into so much trouble when I tried to saw a leg off one of the dining table chairs. 😁 Then I got a Chemistry Set...
@stuartgibson9755 I had a chemistry set too. I wanted to make some concoction that would fizz out of the test tube and turn colors or explode! None of that ever happened 😅
Outstanding!
@barbaramenoni1510 thank you so much!
Yes, I have a full first aid kit in my shop! Paper towels and rolls of electrical tape. Take care of anything!😊
@teddahrable If you don't have an *official* first aid kit, you better have a plan. And that is a great plan for everyday boo-boos, my friend.
I remember these as a child.
@jeremynedow7003 takes us back, doesnt it? Thank you for sharing.
My brother and I got one of these growing up. The nostalgia...
@TheCoachDave did you guys fight over the cooler told in the set? I imagine there wasn't a scramble to play with the level. 🤣🤣🤣
Nice work bud!!
@hb3597 much appreciated!
I want to push that button that says "Do Not Push" 😀
@TheWoodburningWarrior hopefully one day everyone will see what happens when it gets pressed!
I was a "Daddy's Girl" and had real tools lol great video, I was worried about you but I know summer is pretty busy for folks...
@TheWoodburningWarrior thank you. It's nice to know people care about you. I hope you and your husband are doing well.
The Big Stack miniture tool set
@juliagl5790 I like it! Thank you for sharing.
I swear I had the same kit. Unfortunately, pieces got ruined or lost and or even sold. I want to say I still have the square but I can't say for sure
@maddawgnoll So funny, I thought mine was long gone as well, except for the pliers and gimlet. Then one day found this in one of his workbenches. I took it home and it sat in my big toolbox for a few years now.
I had a smaller version of this, great memories. My kit had a expanding wooden yard stick rule.
@elund407 that is exactly what I would have expected to come with this kit. Those wooden folding rulers were very popular before the retracting tape measurer.
@@bigstacksshop Us carpenters in Norway still use them pretty much more than tape measures still, it's a nice bit of kit
That's awesome. I remember unfolding my grandfathers wooden folding ruler all the way and then folding it back wrong and breaking it. I still feel bad about that to this day.
Follow-up comment. You know what would be a good project to be a sequel to this? Overhaul the box to fit all of these tools, new and old.
@TheCoachDave that would be a really cool follow up project. Thank you for the idea.
The wood working set for tiny humans.
Also glad to see you growing! giving me inspiration for eventually trying to start my own channel to document my leatherwork journy
@briansmith3231 you should do it. I record with an old mobile phone, just be sure to get a tripod and a microphone. They will level up your videos more than anything else. I also watch guys like @robertoblake who are a wealth of knowledge. No fancy software is needed either, I started with clipchamp which is free with microsoft windows.
@@bigstacksshop Thanks! I've been saving up for a good camera but Ill try that first!
@@BirdSpotter43 For the clearest image on your videos, be sure to wipe you phones camera lenses every time before you start recording. In a pinch I use the underside of my tshirt. It makes a world of difference.
glad you had a lawyer to review your statements. cute
@kcirful thank you very much
At 6:35 I'm wondering if the contents are going to be 'updated' to pop tarts and tiktok
@michaels3429 😅🤣 I love it! Believe it or not, some kids are still interested if they see us doing them.
Hey Big Stack where have you been? I have not seen any recent videos.Are you ok? Did you give up you tube?
@jenkins1979 I appreciate you asking me, my friend. I'm still kicking, my 9-5 got real busy and I'm still filming stuff. Just haven't had a lot of free time to edit the videos. But when people like you ask me questions like this, I know people care and I really appreciate it. Thank you!
@@bigstacksshop I think you should quit....lol..just kidding my friend..I'll watch for videos later
More tool boxes and less X boxes
@paulnpyes3555 thank you, I love this idea!
Hey, I was worried about you!!!
@revann33 I sincerely appreciate that. I'm doing great, I work in the motorcycle industry and we can get real busy during the warmer weather. My shop is also getting a little full, so I have a hard time shooting videos sometimes. I plan on building a shed soon.
Watch Stack's videos and your wood working will be just like Fonzie. And what is Fonzie?
@dane3038 Cool .... Correct-a-mundo!
