We had a big bulky recliner in our living room, it was my Dad’s favorite place to rest. One day it was gone. My mom gave it away without telling him. To this day we still talk about it as one of the most evil things she’s ever done. 🥺

At a party or at a ball he's nothing at all, but in a morris chair, you'd be surprised...."
My partner and I just got ourselves a pair of Lazboys! Different styles, but matching fabric. They are so comfortable, and not too recliner-y looking (well, mine isn't haha). Life's too short to not have a super comfortable place to sit.
My husband got a recliner.. I hated the look. It was brown ..Ugh. However, by the end of it, I was in love with it. So freaking comfortable. We got rid of it for a slicker looking one, I still don’t like the look but my husband works hard and doesn’t ask for much. Marriage is about compromise. Happily married for 35 years.
I'm surprised the Eames lounge chair wasn't mentioned. It serves the same function as a recliner but is way more attractive. They are quite pricey but I do see some contemporary alternatives that are still sleek. I do think the more modern recliner options are nice when they look like a regular chair. If I had to have one of those monster looking ones in my house I would cringe.

Please consider highlighting the evolution of pressure cookers to instapots/air fryers/etc. I only have a slow cooker but am interested in other energy/time saving countertop cooking methods. I'm not gonna lie, for my whole family, we just bought 6 new recliners because I was sick of everyone trying to steal mine. so now everyone in my house has one and the old one I had is now shared by my dog and cat. I know it's not beautiful but we sure are enjoying them. ❤😂
My mom had a recliner that rocked when you didn't have the footrest out. Those are my favorite kind. But there just isn't room in my place for a chair that big. Maybe after I retire....
Just the other day, I was talking about signature furniture and I said to my boyfriend that big bulky black or brown leather recliner are the most american piece of furniture out there. Have never seen such a thing in my home country (Germany) or any other country I've been to.
Unfortunately. It is particularly annoying to have it come up in a video intended to present facts and history. This isn't that hard of a truth to come across. Research into historical womens fashion, misinformation, medicine, or sexism could uncover it among other things.
