The sentence approach you're talking about is actually not a bad one..But I've tried out many strategies and Techniques to learn a languages and only 1 has stood out "the input method"..The sentence approach kills motivation after a few days of trying it...if you have strictly 3 months to learn a language, then the sentence approach is a good one..but if i wanna learn a language in 1 year or more why would i go for the Sentence approach?? I'll get tired midway with the strategy and won't get successful..in the long run ,the sentence approach will only work for a few people 3 in 100....97will find it the most boring ever!..it's a motivation killer

For sure there is an optimum period that you should apply for any kind of activity that you can foster. Maybe it changes from person to person in detail but there is a general asssumption like 4 different exercise each 4×12. What do you think about the best daily study time daily ?

Intertranslatability...anything that can be expressed in one language can be expressed in another. Seems correct to me. A Zebra can be described by a set of sentences or paragraphs that describe the animal.
Testing that idea becomes even more interesting when matching to time e.g. the difference between I ate and I have eaten and so on.
When you speak two or more languages, you realize that you can't always translate an idea exactly from one language to another. You can approximate the meaning, but you often can't capture the exact same feeling or nuance simply because that specific word doesn't exist in the other language. For example in Spanish you can say: "Estoy enfermo" or "soy enfermo". There are 2 verbs "to be". The first one is to describe something temporary, the second one to express something permanent. In English there's only the verb "to be". So you can only say "I'm sick". or "I'm feeling sick" but the exact feeling that the Spanish verbs convey are missing. Of course you can always say something similar using more words trying to get the idea but close enough doesn't mean the same.
