  • Last week the weather was nice and cool so we decided to climb some of Mt. Lukens truck trail from the JPL trailhead area.
Our route took the left fork from the JPL trailhead up Gabrielino trail to Gould Mesa trail. From there we had a short climb on Angeles Crest Hwy (HWY 2) to the fire station where Mt. Lukens truck trail begins (there's water on the left as you pass the fire station if you carry small bottles like I did). We continued climbing the wide fire road style trail until the junction with Earl canyon motorway where we decided to stop and turn back this time. After descending back down Mt. Lukens and Angeles Crest Hwy a left turn on Green lane. dead ends into the Gould canyon trail (Didn't know the name in the video I refer to it as the "La Canada bike path"). Gould canyon trail ends just on the west side of Hahamonga watershed at the main entrance to JPL. Heading through the parking lot, over the bridge (Devil's gate) and back down into the wash gets us right back to the JPL/Gabrielino trailhead.
The bike I'm riding is a 2018ish Santa Cruz Chameleon "D" aluminum hardtail rockshox recon 100mm with SRAM NX 1x11
Wife's bike is a 2023 Ibis DV9 Carbon hardtail fox racing 34 step cast and SRAM GX/NX 1x12
Thank you all for watching. Get outside and have fun!
