quick heads up, that wasn't vibration bass she was explaining it was subharmonic singing with a vocal fry whereas vibration bass is singing while tightening the larynx as well as the bassline formed using throat bass
Hiss, Colaps, River and Alex came out with a song called "If only" a couple weeks ago if you want to hear beatboxers collaborating on something instead of competing.
I can't explain how unbelievably happy I am that this popped up in my feed! Your insights on the anatomy and breakdown of the minutiae that make up these compositions are both fascinating and educational. Shout out Den Beatbox (artist); his musicality has helped to define & popularize this hybrid genre that deservedly opened doors to many, many more ears out there. Also thanks to SXIN & CHEZAME for the BBU where this battle round was made for and your vision to providing space for videos like this to exist and gain the attention they deserve. Finally, shout out to the entire Beatbox/Loopstation community. The stong support of the artists, your positivity, and your openness to newcomers is the backbone of the genre. Much love and mouthy noises to all.
I looked back at your channel earlier today in the hopes of another beatbox reaction, and after seeing the production quality of this I'm so impressed that you get a video out every week! The insight and analysis you bring to these videos really are levels and levels above the standard reaction channel. Maximum respect!
As a beatboxer I love watching people that are musically inclined react to beatboxing, the way you nerd out pleases me greatly, an average person is easily impressed with beatboxing but it's a lot more rewarding when the person actually has some understand of what is actually going on
I'm not sure I've ever felt as seen as seeing another bright-haired Brit rocking out to something, needing a sip of tea, and then going through the pallava of attempting said sip whilst still bopping and trying not to spill it. Made my day :D
By the way, your battle segment with Den near the end there literally caused a massive side cramp from choke laughing when you threw in a couple of death growls. Thank you again for these beatbox reactions, they're some of my favorites across the platform & your insights are so well communicated. ❤️ 🧚♀️❤️
If you’re interested in Den, he did a cover of another beatbox tag team called Spiderhorse, covering their song called Searching. He really took his time with layering harmonies, and it is glorious to listen to.
Very insightful comments at the end. Beatboxing is actually going through a transition right now as for the past decade or so it’s focused on competitions and emphasized the speed and number of sounds someone could do. This helped drive the discovery so many sounds and combinations, but now that beatboxers have such a wide soundset there’s a greater emphasis on using it well to create good songs. But because competitions are still the main way beatboxers get exposure, even more musical beatboxers still have some pressure to be competitive. That’s why it’s so great and important that they’re starting to be recognized by channels like this discussing singing and music, because it’s not always how it’s discussed in the context of competitions. But things are shifting and I think more beatboxers are finding ways to transition from just being competitors to also being musicians.
3:48 So basically, there are times when a beatboxer can use certain sounds while humming. As long as your humming is not blocked by the tongue, then the sound punches along with your vocal humming. What Den did here is humming + tongue clicks(you say K inwards while your tongue touches the roof of your mouth). You can also do several other sounds while humming, such as a simple liproll, hollow clop (beating the base of your mouth with your tongue), and a variation of the zipper sound that doesn't require you to inhale a lot of air. When performing these sounds while humming, they don't block the air pipe in your throat. That's why they are able to simultaneously do two sounds at the same time.
I have been waiting for another beatbox reaction/ analizing, and what a great one this was once again. Will definitely recommend stitch - feels like nothing. He has crazy vocal techniques, some he even invented himself. Thanks for the great content, and i think i speak for all of us: Moar bbx vids from yooouuuu pls
Another beatboxer that will blow your mind: MB14. His showcase for the "La Cup" is what I would suggest. I don't think there is a beatboxer with better vocals, and with the loop station he makes some incredible harmonies with himself. Also, besides your incredible attention for detail and ability to break down what's going on, the editing is outstanding!
You're going to need to react to "Stitch - Feels like nothing" at some point; you'll know why when you hear the very specific tool he has in his beatboxing toolbox...
This was amazing! I hope Beat Boxing is going to become a recurring thing here. I hope it is going to find its way into my other reactors. Between this one from DEN, and your react to Big Man a little while back, I KNOW I'm going to take my own personally dive into checking out more BBers!!!! 💗
Don't miss out on her reaction to Show Go's "Silver". As always, it's a great reaction. Her insights and ability to explain and even sometimes reproduce these sounds is *SO* interesting. Maybe it's her teaching background or just overall charisma, but I've seen others try to break down the technicals on beatboxing videos - even from beatboxers themselves - and it makes so much more sense to me the way she explains it. 🧚♀️
it’s the sound he uses after the lyrics “and you’re not around”. He used this bass for the first time in his routines. Then he switched quickly to throat bass, so it’s kinda hard to notice
I swear It feels like Christmas when I get the notification for a new “Fairy Voice Mother” reaction! I think I may get a little too excited for your awesomeness. Your energy and immersivity ( did I just make up a word?) is infectious!
The fact that she didn't even adress his inward singing (6:25) or even the revolutionary staccato inward bass technique (4:21) just prooves how clean Den is with his style and special sounds 🔥👌🏻
The GBB is the Grand Beatbox Battle, an annual live competition hosted in different countries each year. There are different categories etc etc, maybe live looping is a category you'd want to explore in your own time, but I digress. This video was from the BBU, which was a privately hosted competition by the beatboxers Chezame (pron. "Shez-am") and Sxin ("Sin"). It was a milestone in beatboxing because it was the first time the rules in a beatboxing competition allowed for (limited) post production, as well as including video as a judging criteria.
9:23 These are a series of what are known in the beatbox community as sub bass liprolls. You pull in air through the corner of your mouth in a specific way and position and it creates sub bass frequencies. The ‘filthiness’ of the sound as you described it depends on how much of the lip is flapping as the air is being sucked in.
The different sounds created are one thing, but the ability to produce the sounds with the precision of a tuned instrument, always the right notes, is what impressed me the most...
I was so looking forward to your next beatbox video and I loved it! Den is great and definitely one of my favorites. There are lots of beatboxers that are musical and rely on less overwhelmingly complicated noises in such complicated patterns like Dudz from Brazil. Stitch is a beatboxer who has a few really great tricks but is very musical and great at using space and simplicity in his tracks while still sounding so wonderful. I hope you get to check out DLow some day... he is definitely my fav and one of the best for sure. Thanks so much for the reaction/analysis! Can't wait for the next one!😁
Holy shit! Almost pissed my pants because of my excitement! Can’t believe it-it’s not only beatboxing, it’s smooth music, that sounds like electronic music full of emotions, composed, produced, performed perfect
you are so far the most USEFUL reacting ytuber. not just how you feel but also the mechanics of whats happening now that most dont really care to learn for themselves
I truly enjoy your beatbox reactions. I'm having so much fun. Thank you for that. Don't know if you ever seen codfish feat wawad, but it is my favorite beatbox video on the internet. Definitely have to check it out. Keep up the great work and continue to educate us ❤
A little note on the continuous pitching of a hum while making the plosives (b, k, etc.) the note is shifted so it resonates through the nasal cavity rather than the mouth so you can continue the pitch while adding other sounds over the top. I hope that made sense lol
He did do a lip roll on 5:27, just with his teeth and side of lower lip. Also sometimes den sings inward to transition between inward bass (the granny deep sometimes sub bass). Also also, beatboxers do not typically make enough money to have this as a career.
Please react to Stitch "Feels like Nothing" or "Christmas is magic" Your mind will be blown! I promise! :) Also if you are interested in Den's chocolate box check out "Sensations" or "Moments I had" (By Den, of course)
Some of what you're noticing is Den essentially humming while making sounds with his mouth. The sounds he's making with his vocal cords are coming out of his nose.
It would be remiss of you madam not to listen to some D-Low. His name is so synonymous with beatbox that it’s probably a bit passé to suggest him but he’s one of the most versatile and successful.
