I discovered your videos partly because my 10 year granddaughter loves studying plants. We've found plantain & self-heal all around our area. Plus, I'm a beekeeper so we're going to learn to make salves.
So glad to hear! They are wonderful plants. When I first started making salves I would add honey in them and they turned out great! Not only can you use the wax but perhaps look into adding some honey into your salves. When you use the right proportions it isn't sticky or messy like you'd think.

I do not understand why your videos do not have more views. They are incredibly well made, good thumbnails, informative and overall very pleasing to watch. Unfortunately, the majority of videos that get views are "meemaws country days cough syrup." Because people want something that reminds them of their childhood or they trust old age more. Keep up the amazing work though. I subscribed.
Thanks! I rendered down some beeswax from a chunk of honeycomb I bought from the grocery. Not much, I just have enough for like one or two small salves, but making some today nevertheless! I'm also going to add cacao butter to one of them to stretch it, plus to get that Vitamin E addition that it provides.
You said the coconut is infused too, what kind of herb? Will this salve cause outbreak of acne? Coconut is very greasy. This is a great video with subtitles❤
Good day. I enjoyed you video which was easy to follow and very calming. If I only have oil that's not infused, dried ground herbs and bees wax, how would I make the salve. (p.s. I have plantain leaf herb) Thank you for any info you can offer.
You would first infuse the herbs into the oil with whatever method you prefer. There are a few different ways to do that including the folk method, warm infusion methods or alcohol intermediary method. Once you have a finished infused oil you will strain the herbs from the oil and then follow the steps in this video to make it into a salve. There are a lot of great step by step guides on the internet for making the infused oil and I also have two videos on this channel about the folk method and alcohol intermediary method. Hope this helps!
@@SmallSeeds thank you for you detailed response. I will check out you two videos. Do you happen to know the name of them or part of so I can put it in the search bar? Thanks again!
HOPING YOU NOTICE THIS COMMENT. Hi 👋🏻 We were doing a research about Chromolaena odorata herb as antibacterial treatment. But we have never done any lab before. I was wondering if you could make an ointment that's easily preservable and could be available use for rural places that are far from medical resources and hospitals. Maybe we could also use the video as bases for our research. Thank you in advance.
Hello. I just found your video. In your opinion what is the best oils to use for homemade stabs? Like coconut oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil? I've been making my homemade creams for over a year now and I've used a different oils, but I'm not sure what is the best oil. Or does it vary versus the type of lotion you're making?
It is just dried self heal (prunella vulgaris) infused in the coconut oil. Self heal is the name of the plant! Is this what you were asking? Hope that clears it up! ☺️
@@VirginiaFruitGrower not at the moment! I'd like to have a seperate area set up one day for making things to sell. In the meantime though when I make the next batch I'd love to just send one your way to try out!
Thank you! I’ve been using the boiling method after washing them with soap and water. I’ve been looking into possibly soaking or spraying them in an alcohol solution after washing with soap and water and then letting them air dry. I’m hoping this will work out so I don’t have to boil the jars every time.
It all depends on the oils you use for infusing and what method you make your infused oil with. For this specific salve I like to use them within a year to make sure I’m always using a “fresh” salve. I would say a year is a good estimate for the shelf life. I’ve never had one go bad within a year. They will last even longer if you add essential oils or vitamin e oil. Hope this helps!
lol, 'Herboratory' I'm definitely using that.
Yes! Do it!

It turned out such a pretty color too 😃
Yes! I love the bright green color of it!

Hi, maybe I missed something, but what is the self healed infused coconut oil infused with? Thank you!!
It is just dried self heal (prunella vulgaris) infused in the coconut oil. Self heal is the name of the plant! Is this what you were asking? Hope that clears it up! ☺️
@@SmallSeeds exactly😀Thanks for clarifying! I didn't know that name, because it's not commonly used herb where I live😉
Very cool. Now all you have to do is wait for a cut, rash or zit lol. Thanks for sharing 👍
Haha! There is never a shortage of small cuts on my hands from gardening so it will be well used. Thanks!

Heres a tip. 2 parts wax to 4 parts oil will give you a rubon deodorant type salve
Love this! Thanks 🙏
Great video :) get some labels that you can print on :)
I find the coconut oil makes the salves greasy.
Love these videos. What do you use to steralize the jars?

I just wash and put in oven at very high heat. To sterilise
@@cosmichearts3349 The lids, too?
Do you have a recipe for poppy seed ointment for use on wounds, cuts and scrapes ?
Sorry, I don’t but that sounds very interesting!
Any advice on what the average shelf life for one of these salves would be?

What does the plantain yarrow blend do
Hi can I use avocado oil or grape seeds oil?
Absolutely!
Where do you get the herb infused oil or how do you make it rather
I have two videos on how to make them on this channel. There are a lot of great online step by step blogs as well!
This is how I make most of mine nowadays and how I made the ones I used for this salve.

That first aid salve would be good for bee stings.
What part of the plantain, yarrow, and Self-heal did you use? And was it narrow or broad leaf plantain?
Thank you for the lovely video!
I use the leaves of broad leaf plantain, and both the flowers and leaves of yarrow and self heal 😊
New Sub and enjoyed this video dear! 😉
Thank you very much!! 😊
Alternative to bees wax?
Carnauba wax is a vegan alternative. I have never used it myself so the ratios may be different depending on how hard the wax is.
Sis, please translate the video into Indonesian so we can understand what you mean 🙏
Hello! Thank you for suggesting this. Do you mean for subtitles? I will look into doing this and try to get it going for all videos.
Please don’t use coconut oil in salve for acne prone skin. Coconut oil actually clogs pores 😢😢
anyone here know where best to source herbs and spices? mygreathanks and blessings
Mountain Rose Herbs is a great online source!
