I’ve only seen two agencies in my lifetime that had white apparatus, NHFD and Sunrise Golf Village VFD (now Sunrise Fire Rescue in FL with red apparatus now)

The apparatus was painted white during WW2 during the blackouts the city had due to being on the shore of Long Island Sound and with the large oil docks and Yale University. White apparatus is much more visible at night under blackout conditions, and red appears black at night. After the war ended the apparatus was kept white as it is to this day.
