I adore Felix. He’s adorable. While in that one situation it looks like he’s over-caretaking, he’s probably had to over the years. Abuela running such a tight ship, and unfortunately poor Pepa is the most obvious problem. She’s probably under SO much stress. At least others can pretend to be perfect, Pepa is constantly criticized, and that probably magnified the problem. I love how he glared at Abuela for putting so much pressure on her in that difficult situation.
Both Felix and Mirabel's father (I suck at names) have this strong, determined attitude where they will always side with their wives and support them when they think Alma is out of line. And that's just so beautiful, especially because they do it without once disrespecting her, or anybody else around them. Even when others are being overly harsh to Mirabel, Felix and her dad are both just kind and wholesome figures in her life.
Yeah, and in that one scene, even though he is trying to dissolve the cloud for Pepa, when Pepa yells about how she's trying, he immediately agrees, seeming annoyed with abuela, not Pepa. He sees that she's trying, and is there as her unwavering support, and I think that is beautiful.
I can say from experience mothers put a lot on their daughters. And husbands and boyfriends should be the Felix in their life when it becomes too much for them.
What I love is that not only does Felix loves and supports Pepa, he constantly woos her. A kiss, a thouch, dancing. Even in the table scene, he doesnt say much but just calls her "amor" or "darling/love". Awsome husband and Dad along with Augustin.
I love how the two dads are both great fathers and husbands, and ordinary guys in totally extraordinary circumstances. Felix is the bright and energetic energy and Augustin Ina little quieter but they are both such awesome characters who do their best to take care of their family
I'm happy that they weren't a "Hysterical wife and scared spineless husband" trope. Peppa sometimes is too much, but he is strong enough to both calm her down and actually validate her feelings and have her be understood. And she does respect him for it, greatly I think. What a guy.
In WDTAB, for me it's the part where, when she gets annoyed about being interrupted, he catches her, dances with her, and apologizes so sweetly that she's smiling again by the time his fingers have walked all the way up her arm. They are goals, and their little relationship moments are some of my favorite bits in the movie.
I think that's why he's able to calm her down to begin with, because he isn't trying to control her, he's validating her feelings and simply helping her control them, by providing a healthy outlet and also a space for her to work through them. There's no disdain for how she feels, just pure respect for his wife as a whole human person.
The main difference between Felix and Joy is that Joy so desperately wants Riley to be happy, that she has to be in charge and is a bit more like Abuela (she wants everything to be perfect/happy). Felix is more laid back and allows Pepa to show all her emotions. Even a hurricane couldn't ruin the marriage for him.
I got the sense that Felix wasn't as on board with the "We don't talk about Bruno" thing. I feel like his line of "What a joyous day it was but anyway, we don't talk about Bruno" shows that. I also feel like he wasn't too upset about the hurricane during his wedding since he knew who he married and he knew he'd have to deal with weather and he's so supportive of her. He may have been angry at Bruno for pushing her to that state and making her upset (and probably ruining their wedding for her perspective) but I don't think he was actually angry about the wedding like Pepa is.
I always love how when he says, "No clouds allowed in the sky", he held her so protectively like he'll fight any dark clouds with his hands if one dares threaten Pepa's good mood.
I thought that he was taking a jab at Abuela with that line because of the “allowed” part. Like clouds are okay because Pepa’s feelings are valid. They should not be bottled. But because Abuela just keeps invalidating Pepa’s feelings, he clarified that it was Abuela that did not *allow* there be clouds in the sky. Lol this is so difficult to explain. I hope people understand 😅
@@obara7366 sure! I think both interpretations are valid. Honestly, its a testament to how great this movie is. It has so many layers thats worth discussing
I read that as him kind of hype-manning for her! Like, "Hey sky, my wife is in charge of the weather and she said no clouds, so no clouds allowed, so 👏🏿 there!👏🏿" Which I thought was pretty adorable. I also really like these other two interpretations though! Felix and Pepa are goals. ♥️
I actually have an uncle Antonio, or Tó as we all call him, that really reminds of Felix. Not only because he has the same body stature and not only because he's married to a latino woman (Dayami, who immigrated to our home country of Portugal), but because he really is that warm and comfy person. He's constantly smiling and so full of energy. And that liveliness maintains even when he's upset about something. It's nearly impossible to get mad at the guy.
you know everyone from mainly romance languages countries are latino as well right, don't fall on the reductive definition americans use, you portugas, pinoy, romanias, angolans, french, italian... us brazilians... all latin people. Even culturally we're similar.
I love how he was cheering for Antonio when the tiger took him for the first ride. Because WE were just as excited for this little boy. Felix IS a gift!
I feel like the only time Felix really gets over protective is when Abuela steps in being harsh, which is usually also when Pepa struggles the most to calm her own emotions
I think everyone deserves their very own "Félix", whatever that may mean in a particular case. Naturally - not everybody can be the same way and that is good and proper. Everybody has very strong qualities and just deserve to find that other person, whose qualities reinforce their own and bring out the best in them. That does not always mean, that you have to be positive and only ever supportive. Sometimes people need the exact opposite and it is up to us to know when that time comes. That's the beauty of relationships, I guess. :-) Aaaaanyways - what was I on about? :-D Oh right - Félix is the best character ever! :3
Felix is such a positive and understanding male character without any toxic cliche traits, I honestly wouldn't have been mad if the whole movie was about his and Pepa's relationship.
^_^ I was so waiting for this one. Felix's personality had me wondering a bit, considering Agustin and Julieta's first daughters are older than Pepa and Felix's kids makes me wonder if Abuela realized the gifts pass to the kids and maybe pushed Pepa and Felix together or if they fully fell in love on their own. It's very obvious Felix adores Pepa and she warms to him so quickly every time he steps in, I just get curious the story behind their relationship's start. He's such a perfect match for her, not just romantically, but strategically, even down to his name. Felix: lucky, happy, fortunate. The creators named them quite carefully and fittingly. I think Camillo's is my favorite. It not only sounds like chameleon, fitting the shapeshifter he is, but the name Camillo means assistant to the priest, which you see him helping just about everyone, but the one that stands out to me most is when Pepa's stressing and he sits her down in a chair and brings her tea, trying to help her calm down.
Only Isabela is older. Dolores, Pepa and Félix's first child, is a few months younger than her (both being 21). Luisa is 19. :) From something I read, it seems like Abuela was really fond of Félix from the get-go and how he treated Pepa and encouraged their relationship. It seems like their relationship was not an arranged one like, say, Isabela and Mariano.
@@Samthane So, not far enough apart for them to have known by the time Pepa and Felix got together. And I wasn't assuming their relationship was arranged, just that Abuela might have pressured it a little. I mean like you said, she was fond of how he treated Pepa from the start. My question is, was it for Pepa's sake, or for the sake of keeping her calm and her abilities under control. Or even both.
Pepa introduced Félix to Alma, and he charmed her right away, so he was in from the beginning. Agustín is the one who had a hard time convincing Alma he was a good fit for the family. Alma thought he was taking advantage of Julieta's kindness to get in with the town leadership.
Felix is one of my favorite characters. I adore how he supports Pepa, and how he seems so close with the whole family. Like when the house is falling, he's one of the ones yelling the loudest for Mirabel to get out, really showing how much he notices and cares for everyone in the family. I also think it's neat that it hails at the end, because we see that Pepa has rain when she's flustered/frustrated/generally upset, and that it turns into snow when she's spiraling. So it seems like hail is what happens when she accepts and is able to release those emotions without fear of judgment, and I think that's really beautiful. I alsl personally don't think he was being an over-carer in the scene where Pepa was snowing. I think he just recognized that having snow falling on Pepa wouldn't help her calm down so he's trying to dissipate the cloud so she doesn't get cold and wet. We later see her shaking and Camilo giving her a cup of tea, which we can infer is because she is stressed, but since she was just being snowed on, it could also be that she's shivering and cold and Camilo got her tea to simultaneously help warm her up and calm her down. He takes a lot after his dad, it seems
My absolute favorite part with him is when he showed his awesome parent reflexes, saving Antonio from falling debris. Kind of like my dad whenever my brother or me did something stupid.
@@GeorgiaDow thanks for the answer. Do you think it would be possible to make a reaction video for Casita? It's not human, but does have a personality of sorts, and I think it could be a really fun video.
I actually relate a lot to Dolores, as someone who is very hyper-sensitive to noise and has the role of confident to everyone in my life, I can understand what it’s like to always hear and know everything, even things you don’t want to. I know how it feels to be confronted with so many information that you can’t always process, to know everyone secrets, to always be the listener, i know how hard it is to remember who is supposed to know what, to talk to someone who you know secrets about them but they’re not supposed to know that you know. Abuela only pays attention to Dolores to get information, we only see people threat her as an information bank or as a spy. No one even considers Dolores as someone who could carry on the family even if she is the same age as Isabella and actually want to marry Mariano because she knows what an amazing person he is, But Abuela doesn’t even considered her for the arrangement. I’ve seen a lot of people thinks that Dolores is mean because she says/doesn’t say certain things, but i think it’s more of a byproduct of knowing so many things and forgetting what certain people are and are not supposed to know. Anyway I think she’s a really interesting character and I wish we got more of her (because i may be projecting too much), i would have loved for the movie to explore how she felt about her gift, as we always see her in the background covering her ears because it’s too loud? How do the people in town view her since she can hear all of their secrets and they can’t hide anything from her? Do they trust her or are they suspicious that she’ll tell on them? How is her relationship with Bruno, since she knows he lives in the house and she can hear him talk? I wonder if she ever went to visit Bruno, did Dolores bring him his food and of the things he had the walls? or does Bruno goes on scavenger hunts at night? Why did she keep his secret?
If Dolores is mean in any way, it's absolutely understandable WHY. She and her mother are torally miserable with their gifts until the very end. Being constantly overestimated and hearing everything every single person says, and trying to keep so many secrets sorted would probably have driven me insane in a couple years or less.
Pepa and Felix are like the non Gothic version of Gomez and Morticia Addams, and it's so wholesome and cute. Also, shoutout to Brenden Frazier and the leading actress (ahhh I always forget her name) in the Mummy 2 for being so loving and supportive of each other. Cinema needs more genuinely loving couples like these few.
Their facial interactions during We Don't Talk About Bruno is so incredibly well done, you can get the jist of what's happening even with the sound off.
While I'm not as extroverted, I instantly related to Felix when watching this movie as my wife is the anxious type and I am often the Felix to her Pepa.
4:30, I actually did catch that one. It’s one of the best Felix bits in “We don’t talk about Bruno” the other being when despite the hurricane he still remembers it as “what a joyous day”
1:27 I love your entire breakdown on Felix's character but this part made me so sad, because Abuela was likely glancing at Pepa and Felix dancing together as a couple. If Pedro has been alive, she would have probably been dancing the night away with him in joy. :C
Ohhh, I never even thought about that! It has to be hard seeing both her daughters with such wonderful partners, since her true love was taken away so soon.
On one hand - yes, but on the other... She had a lifetime of opportunities to find another partner. But it seems that she chose not to. I think that was part of her trauma, that she didn't want to let it go and start living a new life
I work in a school, and today we had de-escalation training - it’s all about spotting the signs, but that requires you to KNOW your kids, understand their home lives and how they access their learning/when they struggle to access the learning - and Felix is amazing at de-escalating Pepa! Because he adores her and knows her so intimately.
Having a young family with an anxious wife, I constantly look at Félix as a guy who's in the right place; He has his priorities clear, he has a great outlook on life ("was a joyous day but anyway" always cracks me up), and incredibly supportive and patient with Pepa while knowing how to diffuse most situations. I also appreciate that you pointed out how he's comfortable enough within his own ego to allow Camilo to tease him. I never noticed that until you said so. P.S. You did a great job with that shirt! I love it!
I'm glad you did one about Felix! With all the larger than life powers in the family overshadowing them, it would be easy to ignore Felix and Augustin. But yes, Felix is great! I picture him as the first person in Pepa's life to tell her, "It's okay! It's not as bad as all that!" and actually make her believe it! Everybody needs one of those in their life!
"That's what I'm always saying, bro!" I imagine Felix being the first person to really tell her not to bottle up her feelings, not caring if he gets rained on. He validates her *so much* and it's obvious she needs it.
Everyone needs a Felix in their lives 🥰 (but let's remember to check in on them as well, and not take advantage of them!) Edit: also I would love to hear your thoughts on "Toxic Positivity." As important as it is to have people who bring positivity in our lives, we should also acknowledge when people are trying to bring positive emotions out of us when we just need them to listen to us be sad/upset
I have a take at the end, generally about their powers not about the mental health of anyone but extremely important all the same: I think, Under Mirabel's front door, they all have more control over their power. So instead of Pepa controlling the weather with her emotions, I feel like she's making it hail on purpose. I'd like to think that like, Dolores' hearing got the ability to tune out things she doesn't want to hear (imagine hearing everyone in the town's intimate lives since you were five. poor girl.), maybe Bruno's visions got clearer, etc. I'd like to think, under a healthier family dynamic where everyone is healing, the powers got to a point where they weren't actively harming the users. Pepa and Dolores both got really short ends of the stick in terms of magic. I think Mirabel got off easy in not getting a power because if I had super hearing where I couldn't tune out things within a mile, I wouldn't want it. Nor would I want a depressing raincloud following me around all the time when I was sad! It'd be perpetual because the rain would make me MORE sad and I'd get frustrated and upset. So seeing Pepa HAPPY and dancing in the hail-- because clearly she's happy in that animation by her facial expression and the love and support of her family and getting her brother back, I think it means she has more control over her power and I can only hope that also extends to Dolores. In that situation, I think Felix is looking at her happily because she FINALLY no longer has to live with the burden of the rainclouds above her head when she was upset and he knew her struggles with those things intimately. The scene is SO sweet, no matter how you slice it. Felix is such a good person and he gets brushed over a lot being a husband of who is basically a side character. I'd argue that the main characters are Mirabel, Abuela, Bruno, Isa, and Louisa. Isa and Louisa getting their own songs, Mirabel being the "Main" Main Character, Abuela being "antagonistic" inadvertently, I don't think the story has an antagonist but she kind of messed things up without meaning to even if she came to in the end, and Bruno being the one Mirabel seeks out and returns to the family. Everyone else seems sort of sidelined. Putting it into perspective, even if you consider, let's say, Dolores a "main character" because we see her interact with Mirabel a handful of times and she also has her own arc with Mariano and we get to look deep into her longing for him before she gets with him at the end. She has an arc and is the catalyst for the family knowing about the magic being destroyed, so despite not having a full song maybe she's a "main character" (a fan favorite too tbh), we rarely ever see Pepa in a meaningful way. We don't get to see Pepa interact with Mirabel directly outside of We Don't Talk About Bruno. We see her freaking out in the background to express how her power is such a pain in her butt, then we see her in the beginning of the group song. I wouldn't say she has an "arc" other than being able to sort of control her powers at the end and reuniting with Bruno, but she shares that with Mirabel's Mom. That doesn't mean she isn't important, but it means she sort of got the short end of the stick not only with a shitty power, but in the plot of the movie, too!! I would've loved to see an internal struggle with her power and talking to Mirabel or saying "I HOPE THE MIRACLE DIES" out of frustration and thundering as she says it before breaking down and having her husband comfort her. I wish we got to see more about how much her "miracle" effected her mental state and caused her to spiral. The movie tackled Louisa's cracking under pressure really well, so I think they could've tackled that, too. I wish Pepa got a song about Emotional Management and always being forced to suppress your feelings so other people aren't inconvenienced, and about mentally spiraling down a bad path. Lots of weather themes like when she says "Great! Now I'm thundering.. And a thunder will lead to a drizzle, and a drizzle will lead to a sprinkle---" I want a weather based song about her emotions and how controlling them is so unhealthy but she's terrified not to or it'll effect everyone around her negatively. She's traumatized, afraid of another hurricane or a tornado or something that will affect the Encanto and the family catastrophically, but she isn't allowed to feel and process those emotions for exactly that reason, until the end of the movie where the burden is lifted off of her and she's freely able to dance around in the hailstorm. If we got a parallel to that in her song where she was dodging giant blocks of ice/hail as her heavy thoughts come crashing down around her and corner her I think that would be a really great callback as at the end, all of the hail is just bouncing off of her as her worries faded due to her control over her power.
I have a Felix in my life and watching this made me teary eyed because he's strong enough for me and validates my feelings, too. I'm so lucky. I'm going to go tell him.
I think Encanto would work as a television series. So many awesome characters, however, most of them only play small support roles. A television series would cover the characters in more depth.
It could definitely make a great slice-of-life drama/comedy series, but unfortunately I doubt Disney could resist turning it into an action adventure superhero thing with the kids battling villains or whatever, which would spoil what makes it so good.
I think the non magical characters got overlooked by many people because the magical abilities are so flashy. But Mirabel, Augustin and Felix are kind of amazing people to be able to deal with all their family and have no supernatural powers of their own!
Felix is such a cute and loving character- I feel like he is the best match up Pepa could ever hope for. Love them together and I like that you dedicated a video to him :) Am I save to assume we might get a Jinx Act III video soon when I look at your painted finger nails ^^? That would be really awesome! I am really thrilled to find out about your thoughts in Act III (especially bridge and final dinner table scenes)
I imagine that if Felix saw Mirabelle at Antonio's party he would've encoraged her to join in with the family and the photo too. Both as a "miracle-less Madrigal" and being him, she seems the type who probably even over compensated in praising Mirabelle to make her feel better.
I really love your break down of Felix and Pepa relationship. You point out those details that are so small but yet are so important to a healthy and strong relationship in a marriage that Felix and Pepa have.
I have a theory that the thunder line actually happened back then. I think that she was already anxious about things and she let it slip a bit when she saw Bruno coming up, but she got mad in the retelling because it paints the situation in a different light. I do love the fact that Felix wasn't trying to stop her emotions at the wedding, like instead of telling her to calm down he's just telling people to get umbrellas.
I'd love to see your break down of Augustin. He seemed to interact differently than the rest of the family and I really appreciated his fatherly character!
I'm loving this series of videos so much! Maybe there's not enough actual content from the movie, but are you going to do a quick video on Agustín Madrigal? He seems so concerned with what his wife Julieta is saying or doing that he repeats her words verbatim or even copies her facial expressions.
your comment about how positivity can be annoying or misplaced even made me think of inside out's Joy :D just in case you want to react to it if u take ideas!
At this point I just wanted to thank you for your work. Not only because it is entertaining, but also because, as an aspiring actor, the analysis of an actual psychologist helps me understand characters on a whole different level. This deep connection is really valuable. Especially your takes on Vander and the relationship between Viktor and Jayce.
Exactly! You just said all the things I adore about Felix! Hes such a warm and welcoming person and just wants the best for the people he cares about. I think everyone needs to find their Felix.
I clicked right away One of my favourite characters, and I'm glad that you picked up all the amazing things he did "under the radar" I personally find him to be the "playful role model"...and I can relate to his caretaker behaviour I would love to see a breakdown of Augustin next...and then all of the Madrigal (can't wait!!!)
Felix is indeed a delightful character, always supportive of Pepa. Notice that they always wear the same colors, too. We get to see him in interplay with both of his sons, but I don't recall that he interacts much with Dolores. But then, consider: his name means "happy," while hers means "sorrowful." How did that happen? By the way, Georgia, I know you from your occasional appearances on "This Week in Tech." I also enjoy seeing your therapist side here. My "Encanto" count, as of last night, is eight.
Another great thing for him instigating "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is that I kinda feel he KNEW they needed to talk about Bruno (how he bursts into the room absolutely ready to push the subject, his expressions as he moves in for the dance like he's anticipating that transition), and using "explaining to someone that was too young to remember/know" was a great way to get his wife to air her frustration while also letting Mirabel know why the family has trouble talking about her missing uncle. And of course incorporating Pepa into the conversation so it isn't behind her back: I feel too many stories have characters tell others about ongoing troubles behind the back of someone that might not want it aired and it leads to unneeded strife, so Felix is emotionally mature enough to know that isn't appropriate and instead tells it where Pepa can elect to be part of it. And by her transition, you can tell she DOES want to talk about Bruno, and Felix is giving her that opening and control of the conversation. It ties in with Bruno's reprise and "That's what I'm always sayin', bro!" very well, because he's been trying to get Pepa not only to get her feelings (in general) out there in a healthy way, but to work through her feelings about her brother.
I really need a Felix in my life 😩😩 I grew up in a family where we don’t talk about our days or our feelings. We just talk about “important” things, and my parents are the type who would think that they know what their kids really feel. Because of that, I’m not close with them, I never talk to them about my personal problems or struggles, because there are part of me that know they won’t understand and also there’s a part of them that really don’t want to add another problems to their life because every time I’m with my family, I always feels like a disappointment to them. So when I grew up, I became really awkward socially, didn’t really made a lot of friends, and I would always presented myself as a happy person because I don’t want to make people worried and when they’re worried I would be anxious. When I watch Encanto. I can really feels Pepa’s struggles and watching Felix always there for her just make me so happy and gave me hope that someday I can find a Felix, no matter as a friend or else.
my boyfriend is the felix to my pepa to the point where we were laughing while watching it together. he’s even shorter and stockier than me! we really look and act like them haha
Felix is such a sweet guy, he is exactly what Pepa needed in her stressful life where she isn't allowed to express her emotions freely otherwise things get messy for everyone because of her powers. That said there is one scene where I felt she was unnecessarily being mean to Felix, in "We Don't Talk About Bruno" when he kept interjecting to add more details to the story she angrily told him to stop it as if saying "Shut up or I'll leave", also she called it "my" wedding instead of "our" wedding despite Felix being right there with her, it's understandable that Pepa is always on edge because of the pressure she is under, but I just didn't like seeing a nice supportive guy like Felix getting a bit mistreated by her.
Thanks for the video! Honestly, Felix and Augustin raised my standards for seeking out a partner. Thanks for pointing out now Felix says Mirabel needs to know about Bruno. I didn't even notice that at first. How I see the scene that was maybe him being over-supportive was that Felix got annoyed or angry with Alma there and was supporting his wife, while in his own way, telling Alma to back off. The whole family was spiralling in that scene with their gifts glitching and the miracle under threat. And Alma's anxiety-driven controlling behaviour here was not helping. I loved this scene with Felix. Felix reminds me to enjoy things, enjoy myself, and enjoy the people around me.
Desperately awaiting Dolores. I was entrusted with *horrific* secrets about genocide when I was young, and I'm sure Dolores had to deal with knowing too much, too early, and being unable to confide in others...
I love your costumes for every character!! It's lovely to hear how happy Felix is overall -No wonder his name literally translates to Happy-. I do have to wonder, with such a supportive caretaker, where was Felix for Mirabel through the movie? Did he try to help but mostly unable because of the hold that Abuela had on the family? Or did he only focus on his family and didn't have enough to give to Mirabel?
I love the relationship dynamic Felix and Pepa has. It's like a tree. No matter which way the wind blows, figuratively and literally, Pepa has a safe and stable place in Felix's support.
I think all of this is why people have attached to/liked Felix so much. He's a genuinely nice and kind person, while not treading into 'nice guy' territory and being creepy. He's so supportive of his loved ones and very protective of them without overstepping their boundaries. He's a really good character tbh.
If you watched other translations of “We don’t talk About Bruno”, all of them retain Felix’s sweetness, up-beat ness, and supportiveness of Pepa. And his next-to final line of “what a joyous day but anyway” is rephrased to fit the music but keeps his personality of trying to calm Pepa and focuses on more than just the negatives. And I loved that all the translations kept that despite the difficulties of keeping in line with the beat and matching the animated mouth movements
I love how part of the plug for your website at the end was "Therapy is too expensive for some" and the price tag for all of these lessons seems to be around 60$. Wow that really seems reasonable.
After all these years of dead Disney parents it's really great to have characters like Felix. * also barely noticed Luisa was holding her spoon in her mouth at the table scene. As if she weren't already the most relatable sister
I love Tio Felix so much, he's so sweet and supportive of Pepa, and is just a complete ball of sunshine, which is absolutely why Pepa fell in love with him in the first place: he's her light through the storm, quite literally, and always guides her safely back to shore. Everyone needs someone like Felix in their life, someone who will always be there for you to make you feel safe and at home 😊
I was wondering too if she's working on another or if it was left over from doing one of the past ones if it was recorded around the same time as this one. It's possible she didn't want to remove it because it was still newly applied.
One thing that absolutly got me about Felix (and I loved him before) is when Mirabel is trying to get the candle and people are yelling for her to get out. Though the captions listed it as Augustin, it was actually Felix who yelled 'The House is going to fall', and you can hear him, Pepa, and Mirabel's parents yelling for her. I think it's something that really defines all 4 as caring and loving parents and Aunt & Uncle.
I would like to point out the part after the dinner, Felix is trying to get rid of the snow cloud as she is shivering. He lets her get her emotions out towards her mom, and vocalizes that he is on his wife’s side in this situation
As an empathetic person, I get so much of what you said! When I was younger, no one understood why I was so overly emotional(even myself). I grew tired of wearing not only my own emotions on my sleeve, but everyone else's as well. It ended up with me burying everything so I wasn't mocked. Now, I don't care what most people think, because carrying that weight was actually causing me physical health issues for a few years. I've recently come to accept that it is a part of me, and while I'm still healing in many ways, it's been a long time since I've felt so light.
*flails* another Georgia-video! :D With a cosplay! YAAY! Would it be possible to be like Felix, always seeing the positive in every situation - except for yourself? Like you can see the positive side for everyone else, but when it comes to your own life and your own situations you just can't? I think Felix trying to help Pepa calm down her emotions in the beginning of the movie is because it's what she wants to not upset Abuela. If Pepa had said she wanted to just let it go and not care about Abuela, Felix would've probably been all about that too. He's such a bean
According to the creators, Felix is a few years older than Pepa and the others, and I wonder if that plays into the caretaking/protectiveness as well. He would have been 8 or 9 when the triplets got their gifts, and I could definitely imagine him seeing Pepa getting distressed about the weather and thinking, "This kid needs a friend."
My partner once said the most wonderful and meaningful words to me and I believe it's something that Peppa would say to Felix too. She said "Around you I feel at ease. You make me feel like I can be myself without worrying that you might be disappointed by me." Felix is amazing and everyone should be grateful for having a partner like him. Little detail I noticed when I watched this movie for the third time that shows that he's also a great father. After Antonio had these animals warm up his grandma's seat you can see Abuela slightly irritated by Felix just looks at his son, gives him a thumbs up and nods approvingly. Abuela might want Antonio to use his gift in a different way but Felix just shows him that he's done good, especially when you consider that he's already doing what's expected of them: help others
I just want to say Felix is so nice and just does lots of things right and kind like you said with the flowers when pepa was frustrated not a harsh yet serious voice Dolores Camilo and Antino must be lucky does have that dad.
Finally an analysis of my favorite character. Its so rare to see a character analysis of the mostly comedic side character with not a lot of screen time and im here for it
I´m Felix... and I love to be. Thing about beeing Felix is: it makes yourself happy. Love my wife, love my family, love the people I care for. Love beeing Felix. They are happy, I am happy as well... without loosing myself. Be good, be kind, be loving.
Hi Georgia! You are awesome! I haven't noticed as much details about him as I noticed more about Miriam, Isabela, Luisa, and Bruno, but I like your reaction and analysis! Felix is so kind, supportive, and encouraging. He's a gem. So selfless and caring. :). Your excitement and enthusiasm helps to make your videos awesome too. :) I hope you're having a great day. :) Take care. PS. Your cosplays rock! :). :)
As a person fairly similar to felix people do tend to be put off by my positivity (apparently it makes me seem suspicious?) and i do struggle with not being ok when my girlfriend is upset. Because being her comfort rock is just SO important to me and I love her to the moon and and back🥰
@@GeorgiaDow oh I don’t take it to heart😅. Nor do I blame them for I don’t know their past. I’m just living my best life while making sure everyone around me has a good time too!😁
"What a joyous days" The first time I heard him sing that, I thought he meant the day was joyous DESPITE the hurricane. But I'm thinking now he meant it was also joyous BECAUSE of it. Pepa was letting out all her feelings completely unfiltered.
I think Felix shooing the clouds snowing on Pepa is actually nice and him trying to make sure Pepa can feel how she needs and wants with having to deal with the snow or whatever weather comes with it, I.e without the consequences of having those emotions, so she can feel them freely
I was gonna say, Felix is the real GOAT in this movie. He's the perfect balance to Tia Peppa. You can even hear it in "We don't talk about Bruno. Peppa is like "it was my wedding day" and Felix says "it was OUR wedding day" and even though Peppa is in this habit of basically catastrophizing that whole memory after she says they were married in a hurricane he says "What a joyous day but anyway.. we don't talk about Bruno" He's just glad to be with Peppa he basically didn't care if it was a hurricane. As long as he was married to his love. He embraces her for who she is and Bruno was trying to say that to her in the first place but got mistaken for prophesying. Felix is very loving and supportive towards Peppa and I heard it in all his words to Peppa through out the movie. I thought it was precious.
The timing of this video was perfect, I have really been working on my positive thinking to being a bit more like Felix. Really awesome 👌 video always enjoy watching, and is that a bit of foreshadowing with the nails or am I read to much in to it?
Yeah, i love those two stand their ground when facing Abuela.
I can say from experience mothers put a lot on their daughters. And husbands and boyfriends should be the Felix in their life when it becomes too much for them.
I want a man like Felix ☺️ 🥺
What I love is that not only does Felix loves and supports Pepa, he constantly woos her. A kiss, a thouch, dancing. Even in the table scene, he doesnt say much but just calls her "amor" or "darling/love". Awsome husband and Dad along with Augustin.
He is a true romantic isn't he
I love how the two dads are both great fathers and husbands, and ordinary guys in totally extraordinary circumstances.
What a guy.
felix îs great
She respect him and love him unconditionally, the looks she gave at the breakfast scene is just pure ,like "you are my sun"
@@haven311 He's like a Caribbean Gomez Addams! Although Pepa is no Morticia.
The great thing about Felix for me, is how positive he is. He supports Pepa and he's always there for her. And is also a great dad. A great character.
he does always see the light
@ Georgia Dow Can you react to camilo Dolores and Antonio ?
I'm actually impressed that Georgia was able to take Felix's 3 minutes of screentime into a full 10 minute video
hah thanks
I love that Felix isn't so overwhelmingly positive, but just enough. He's a good contrast to Joy from Inside Out.
@@limaman7262 Oh, I can see that interpretation, but with the way he held her, I don't personally get that read from it.
@@obara7366 sure! I think both interpretations are valid. Honestly, its a testament to how great this movie is. It has so many layers thats worth discussing
yes protective and loving what a great mix
I read that as him kind of hype-manning for her! Like, "Hey sky, my wife is in charge of the weather and she said no clouds, so no clouds allowed, so 👏🏿 there!👏🏿" Which I thought was pretty adorable.
I also really like these other two interpretations though! Felix and Pepa are goals. ♥️
My favorite Felix line is "What a joyous day but anyway..." I love that what he cared about was marrying his love, not the circumstances around it.
Félix and Gomez Addams have same but different energy and I am here for it! We stan latino men adoring thier wives!
That's what I was thinking - that Felix and Pepa may be an homage to Gomez and Morticia.
Omg the best husbands
Félix and Pepa are the popular preppy kids while Gomez and Morticia are the gothic scenic kids. They're all friends and go double dating.
I love how he was cheering for Antonio when the tiger took him for the first ride. Because WE were just as excited for this little boy. Felix IS a gift!
It’s actually a jaguar not a tiger.
Felix's existence is literally defined by "happy wife, happy life".
Literally happy village in this case 😂
I feel like the only time Felix really gets over protective is when Abuela steps in being harsh, which is usually also when Pepa struggles the most to calm her own emotions
he is very protective of Pepa
I think everyone deserves their very own "Félix", whatever that may mean in a particular case. Naturally - not everybody can be the same way and that is good and proper. Everybody has very strong qualities and just deserve to find that other person, whose qualities reinforce their own and bring out the best in them. That does not always mean, that you have to be positive and only ever supportive. Sometimes people need the exact opposite and it is up to us to know when that time comes. That's the beauty of relationships, I guess. :-) Aaaaanyways - what was I on about? :-D Oh right - Félix is the best character ever! :3
exactly their puzzle piece =) well said Jan
Felix is such a positive and understanding male character without any toxic cliche traits, I honestly wouldn't have been mad if the whole movie was about his and Pepa's relationship.
Let's write a petition demanding a whole series about their home life. I'd love to watch it
Pepa got herself a good one there, tbh. A true paragon of healthy masculinity
Me too felix is wonderful and the dancing in the hail was delightful
My absolute favorite part with him is when he showed his awesome parent reflexes, saving Antonio from falling debris. Kind of like my dad whenever my brother or me did something stupid.
yes that was a great moment also
@@GeorgiaDow thanks for the answer.
All of this!!!!!!!
If Dolores is mean in any way, it's absolutely understandable WHY. She and her mother are torally miserable with their gifts until the very end. Being constantly overestimated and hearing everything every single person says, and trying to keep so many secrets sorted would probably have driven me insane in a couple years or less.
I don't know you, but I love you. I too learned too much, too soon, and could confide in no-one. I hope you are safe now.
While I'm not as extroverted, I instantly related to Felix when watching this movie as my wife is the anxious type and I am often the Felix to her Pepa.
dont over do it either
4:30, I actually did catch that one. It’s one of the best Felix bits in “We don’t talk about Bruno” the other being when despite the hurricane he still remembers it as “what a joyous day”
1:27 I love your entire breakdown on Felix's character but this part made me so sad, because Abuela was likely glancing at Pepa and Felix dancing together as a couple. If Pedro has been alive, she would have probably been dancing the night away with him in joy. :C
yes oh my =(
Ohhh, I never even thought about that!
I love it!
*Felix and Pepa* : marriage goals
*Georgia-San* : outfit and soothing explanation goals
Aww thanks Danger
I love your take. So tired of hearing people call Félix a simp! He is attentive, strong, caring, and supportive through and through! ❤
What??? Who would ever call him a simp? He is such a great character, loving and caring. I find that incredibly sexy😅
@@aloha803 Some people see any guy who is kind to a woman he's attracted to as a simp.
That’s new to me. I’ve never heard anyone call Felix a simp
Words like these have been so overused that they have become meaningless.
I’m pretty sure at this point, people call guys who love their wives/girlfriends “simps” ironically.
In the hospital lobby to see a therapist when I got this notification! Always happy to see your content.
i was happy to see this and the Jynx nailpolish xD
@Obara it was meant to be and @Danger Yes oh yes it is filming today
Yep these two are definitely a perfect match for each other.

@@GeorgiaDow I know.
“ there was literally a hurricane “
“ But it was fun dancing in the rain together!! :D “
Everyone needs a Felix in their lives 🥰 (but let's remember to check in on them as well, and not take advantage of them!)
Edit: also I would love to hear your thoughts on "Toxic Positivity." As important as it is to have people who bring positivity in our lives, we should also acknowledge when people are trying to bring positive emotions out of us when we just need them to listen to us be sad/upset
I have a take at the end, generally about their powers not about the mental health of anyone but extremely important all the same:
I think, Under Mirabel's front door, they all have more control over their power.
I'm going to go tell him.
wonderful you are so lucky
@@GeorgiaDow Thank you! And I did tell him.
I looooove this breakdown! I loved Felix and felt he was an unsung hero. Such a supportive father/husband ✨✨🥰
he is wonderful
I think the non magical characters got overlooked by many people because the magical abilities are so flashy. But Mirabel, Augustin and Felix are kind of amazing people to be able to deal with all their family and have no supernatural powers of their own!
Felix is who all guys should strive to be
Felix is such a cute and loving character- I feel like he is the best match up Pepa could ever hope for. Love them together and I like that you dedicated a video to him :)
Am I save to assume we might get a Jinx Act III video soon when I look at your painted finger nails ^^? That would be really awesome! I am really thrilled to find out about your thoughts in Act III (especially bridge and final dinner table scenes)
7:11 Felix isnt actually trying to make her happy here, he is just trying to keep her dry and get Aubuella off her back while shes upset
You point out those details that are so small but yet are so important to a healthy and strong relationship in a marriage that Felix and Pepa have.
they are really a wonderful couple
I have a theory that the thunder line actually happened back then. I think that she was already anxious about things and she let it slip a bit when she saw Bruno coming up, but she got mad in the retelling because it paints the situation in a different light.
I do love the fact that Felix wasn't trying to stop her emotions at the wedding, like instead of telling her to calm down he's just telling people to get umbrellas.
I love the reference to Colin Robinson from What We Do In The Shadows for the Energy Vampire bit; such a great character in his own right.
hes hilarious love Colin hahah
I'd love to see your break down of Augustin. He seemed to interact differently than the rest of the family and I really appreciated his fatherly character!
I'm loving this series of videos so much! Maybe there's not enough actual content from the movie, but are you going to do a quick video on Agustín Madrigal? He seems so concerned with what his wife Julieta is saying or doing that he repeats her words verbatim or even copies her facial expressions.
your comment about how positivity can be annoying or misplaced even made me think of inside out's Joy :D just in case you want to react to it if u take ideas!
yes thats a good one also
At this point I just wanted to thank you for your work.
I clicked right away
One of my favourite characters, and I'm glad that you picked up all the amazing things he did "under the radar"
I personally find him to be the "playful role model"...and I can relate to his caretaker behaviour
I would love to see a breakdown of Augustin next...and then all of the Madrigal (can't wait!!!)
so happy you enjoyed it and I will place that down
Felix is indeed a delightful character, always supportive of Pepa.
I really need a Felix in my life 😩😩
I grew up in a family where we don’t talk about our days or our feelings. I can really feels Pepa’s struggles and watching Felix always there for her just make me so happy and gave me hope that someday I can find a Felix, no matter as a friend or else.
my boyfriend is the felix to my pepa to the point where we were laughing while watching it together. he’s even shorter and stockier than me! we really look and act like them haha
aww that's wonderful
That’s what I love about pepa is her facial reactions 4:08
The fact that he refers to their wedding as a "joyous day" despite the hurricane is just pure DEDICATION to his wife
This further solidifies my belief that we all need a Felix in our lives
yes
I love them together honestly, they suit each other so well and even after all these years they still melt into each other's arms ❤️
4:51 I hope too... Felix is a real sunshine!
Desperately awaiting Dolores. I was entrusted with *horrific* secrets about genocide when I was young, and I'm sure Dolores had to deal with knowing too much, too early, and being unable to confide in others...
Pepa and Felix have been called the Gomez and Morticia of the movie ❤️
yes I feel the same
I love your costumes for every character!!
Felix is the kind of guy I don’t think anyone can hate.
no i dont think anyone can
After all these years of dead Disney parents it's really great to have characters like Felix.
Omg, your nails...Is a Jinx Act 3 reaction coming?!?!?
I was wondering too if she's working on another or if it was left over from doing one of the past ones if it was recorded around the same time as this one. It's possible she didn't want to remove it because it was still newly applied.
YES !!! you noticed yay
He's such a bean
yes it is possible often people are hardest on themselves but not others. Be kinder to you for me please
@@GeorgiaDow I'm trying really hard! Today was a rough day, so it was extra nice to have a Georgia-video to watch
I just want to say Felix is so nice and just does lots of things right and kind like you said with the flowers when pepa was frustrated not a harsh yet serious voice Dolores Camilo and Antino must be lucky does have that dad.
he is a great dad also
Yeah
He earned my approval of one of my favorite Disney dads. Along with Agustin.
Finally an analysis of my favorite character. Its so rare to see a character analysis of the mostly comedic side character with not a lot of screen time and im here for it
Oh I loved this. Felix is my favorite character.
Felix is, legit, my favourite character in Encanto
Felix is my favorite character. Just a purely good father and husband.
Felix and Agustin are the unsung heroes of Encanto.
Felix is a person who brings happiness wherever they come. Then there are others who bring happiness wherever they go.
Ha that Is very well said
I´m Felix... and I love to be.
Thank you so much!
@@GeorgiaDow You're welcome :) :)
Finally! Someone talk about how AWESOME Felix is!!! I just simply love this characters who are so madly in love of their couple
As a person fairly similar to felix people do tend to be put off by my positivity (apparently it makes me seem suspicious?) and i do struggle with not being ok when my girlfriend is upset. Because being her comfort rock is just SO important to me and I love her to the moon and and back🥰
they have been hurt but you will win them over in time. Never change, dont dim your light for others
@@GeorgiaDow oh I don’t take it to heart😅. Nor do I blame them for I don’t know their past. I’m just living my best life while making sure everyone around me has a good time too!😁
"What a joyous days"
The first time I heard him sing that, I thought he meant the day was joyous DESPITE the hurricane. But I'm thinking now he meant it was also joyous BECAUSE of it. Pepa was letting out all her feelings completely unfiltered.
He is a wonderful husband and partner! And he loves his wife and knows how to best interact with her.
He is quite lovely and they are so nice together
Felix is perfect for her. He’s calm and gentle with her.
I love the reference to energy vampires from what we do in the shadows 😆😆 you should do a video on that show sometime !!
i did do one
@@GeorgiaDow omg I never saw that one!! I gotta check that out. Thx for the reply !
two things: 1. I love your nails! 2. you're really good enough at this to squeeze an entire video out of any character, hunh?
Yes the nails. Just filmed it = ) and i do try to
The timing of this video was perfect, I have really been working on my positive thinking to being a bit more like Felix.
Really awesome 👌 video always enjoy watching, and is that a bit of foreshadowing with the nails or am I read to much in to it?
thank you grimm =)
