It really is disappointing how underrated Asgore is as a character. A king filled with grief, forced to carry the burdens of his people, as well as the slaughter of 6 children to save his people, the loss of his children, and the eventual disperse of his family as a whole, his wife who blames him for the decisions he made, for the good of his people. All of the monsters aside from Toriel refer to him as a cheerful, righteous ruler. But little do they know, he's hiding a lot of sadness to show face. He's completely hopeless, and can only go down sad paths as the one who sits on the throne. He fights not out of malice, or ill intent. But for the happiness of his people. A true role model through and through, despite his hagnes actions. Asgore is a prime example of an "antagonist" done right. The motives, the situation he's in, all of it is gold. It's too bad he's overshadowed by the more popular characters. Because he's SO well written.

She would rather abandon her kingdom and leave it to rot slowly rather than make a few sacrifices to allow it to thrive.Thats what made them different

Asgore is honestly one of my favorite bosses in the whole game his whole concept is so good a King that feels so much guilt and is only doing what he does because he has to, not because he wants to unlike almost all the other monsters, he doesn't want to fight you, and only does so because he has no choice and this song perfectly shows that I love it
