You sir, are a hero. Bought a cheap IONCHILL from Walmart, same issue, worked for a day, then the dreaded red light of doom. While I didn't have any simple salt, (I'm camping) I did have electrolyte pills. Chopped a small bit of off one pill, swirled it into the water and bammo! Works like a charm now. Yeah! (Angels are singing on high!)

Literally, before disassembling it, i add salt (pink salt, maybe 8 rocks") and tried it- first attempt, Worked! I had been trying to troubleshoot the machine for the last 5 days.
    Summary: Salt Resolved

Hello everyone!! I had the same error what i did is i brought it so my sign unplugged the drain plug and just blasted the top hole with water obv not outside of the unit just blasted the second water reservoir and added salt. After that i filled up with that water both reservoirs and turned it to the cleaning cycle it worked like a charm!!

Salt did the trick for me. Thanks for sharing!

I had the same issue with my 1 year old machine. I used the "salt trick" and it worked. But after cleaning the machine, running several cycles and having it standing idle for over an hour with "SnowPlow" in the system it worked again without the "salt trick". So sometime using a professional cleaning fluid will also do the job if you have this problem on an older machine.

I don’t took this little machine apart 3-4 times and nothing worked…..only to find out when using bottled or purified water it has no or not enough minerals to activate the sensor.
Answer : use a pinch of salt not a lot to the point you taste it in the water or ice then swirl it around in the machine and it should work.

Really! Salt? I use tap water in mine, never had a problem yet! Most bottled water has sodium in it,even though it don't say so on the label. Thank you for great answer!

Since you bought it yesterday, find your receipt and take it back to the store you bought it from and get a different one. This is the easiest fix for your problem. I just fixed my first ice machine! LOL

Remove the sensor and use some Sandpaper to scrub it from top to bottom all around and Put it back And this should work with no problem. I fixed them all the time. PS The sensor looks Like it was made from a paper clip.

Salt worked the the first push of the button. Wouldn’t have thought but it did. I use filtered water so there must not be enough minerals in it for the sensor to register.

I'm amazed that the little pin could detect minerals, but hey, the salt trick worked for me too.
My machine is euhomy and not even their customer service had that suggestion!!!
      Thanks for posting

Did not work for me. But I did add some salt and a bunch of vinegar. Then I got a long straw and blew air into the mesh type port inside the unit in the bottom. Then I blew some vinegar from a straw into the port to force the vinegar in the system. Restarted a few times -- then it started working. ~~~ I'm pretty sure hard water does not do well for the machine. And our machine has been used less than a half-dozen times and it's very clean. I clean it and put it away in the original box & Styrofoam forms every time. --- So MAYBE my clues will help someone.

    What is the salt trick??

  • @Coldeneye76

Ok so I thought the salt thing was a troll post. Added salt and the dam thing worked just had to turn it on and off to let it cycle through the line twice. Put in some vinegar to help clean it out . Works fine now.

I have a Newair brand. Girly new too. Same thing. Was getting add water light. Literally added a pinch of salt and it worked. Distilled water is too pure for these sensors.

Did you end up finding out the issue? We just got one and right out of the box , we get the add water light .

    • @sljorge2
      @sljorge2  3 года назад +10

You'll never believe what it was!!!!! DISTILLED WATER!!!! "Pure" water does not have enough conductivity for the sensor to work. Simple solution if you want to use distilled water....two or three GRAINS of salt was enough to trigger the sensor and it works fine. Unbelievable!!!
