Honestly most surround sound is kinda bs. Some of it kinda works in certain games but 99% of the time people will be better off using a good pair of stereo headphones. In fact you may even get better “surround sound” performance out of them like in your case
There are genuine issues with sounds a lot of the time, even players like jynxzi got caught by a bug where people can just blow a window open or drop from a ledge and make literally 0 sound for anybody around them, recently we also had doc being able to full sprint across corridors and make absolutely no sound either, theres a bug where everything sounds muffled, and one where some sounds outright dont play. On Oregon, theres a position next to kitchen where every sound from the nearby corridor and kitchen itself are non existent with when using drones. Blaming the game is also pretty valid in some cases, but not all of them.
I am a very big sound player, and I would like to clarify something by playing on a DT770 pro 250ohm with an amp, or an old Hyper x cloud II player... The sound on R6 is never received, and for good reason .. It's an online game, what a surprise, so we almost forgot that when someone rolls back, they also make almost no sound.. magic? In short, it's not really the fault of the player who busts his ass learning about it every day, the sound on R6 is really bad, I can prove it with hundreds of clips per day.
But otherwise, this video for novices/amateurs provides very good advice, I also want to say that if the defense makes holes in the sound windows (sound breach windows) they must also be opened in attack, or precisely make holes via a buck. Create sound zones, take it from one room to another, it's more rewarding than the opposite.

i can use cheap headphones and hear sneaking but have tried more expensive brands and struggled in certain frequencies even after EQ adjustments, if it aint me its def the game and i will die on that hill especially since the game sound system is already odd, like why do i hear someone below me just because a hatch on 2nd floor is open 50 ft away from me
been configuring my Cloud 3 with either 16 bit or 24 bit 96k hz, the 24 bit makes front cues louder and behind cues subtle. This video made me remember what type of loudness or subtleness determines if they are behind or in front.
I switched to hifi and I've increased my round 1v1 win rate by like 70%, I just always know where they are if they arent a 3 speed, but even then a 3 speed still has loud noises like leaning and aiming down sight.
Great video! I have a HyperX Cloud II and a Razer Blackshark V2 Hyperspeed and tried both surround sounds when you mentioned it and honestly the Razer's "thx spatial audio" is just better than the HyperX 7.1. I cant explain but i feel the difference. The mentioned spatial audio is a bit better for MY PREFERENCE than the stereo. The other thing that was not mentioned is the ping. I honestly think ping and desync issues (which exist in the game) can cause messed up audio or completely missing audio. I have died a few times to literally zero sound and when I clipped it and put it in Premiere Pro it also didnt show the sounds which means there werent any, its not too common but it happens and its also annoying.
Pro players play with ear buds because headsets are not allowed at the LAN tourneys. They're required to wear sound isolation cups over the ear buds. During online competitions they may wear their own headset but if you game to play at LAN, you play with the ear buds you plan to use.
One thing hi fi has is distance. It helps with hearing footsteps echo through halls, unlike night. Honestly both are great, just depends on the map. For house, night, but for coastline, hi fi Ayyyy my boy uses the hyper X too!! W headset
The reason you can't hear sounds is because on PC it constantly glitches out, and operaters don't produce any audio. You play on console, and everybody makes audio 95% of the time. I've gotten shot in the back a fraction of the time on console then pc. It's so refreshing to play audio, and bait in 1v1s using sprint to trick the attackers.

Choosing mono over Stereo if choice is available makes no sense whatsoever. The definition of Mono/Stereo is that Mono sends all sounds via one standalone audio. This means that you hear the same sounds in both of your ears. Stereo, on the other hand, divides the sound coming in into 2 different canals: L (Left) and R (Right). Thats why with mono audio you feel like sounds are in your head.
With some Points i Disagree. Sometimes (well a lot of times if we are honest) theres actually no Sound. Because the Game uses a Realistic Sound Engine which goes through punchholes etc. The sound is not really accurate most of the times. The Bigger the whole in the wall is, it becomes not so accurate. For an Example - Bank Lobby. This Lobby is so Big and it has an Echo in it which is Realistic because of how the Room is Builded and its not filled with Furnitures to damp the Sound and make it more Accurate so you can Locate where the Enemy is.
For a game that relies so much on sound, the audio in this game is absolute dogshit a majority of the time. When I play battlefield I could tell you exactly where the enemies around me are at all times. Compare that to siege (my main game) and the difference is night and day.
honestly, my problem is not the game itself (most of the times). its the fact that i have to play with the sound game on 25 cause my mates mic is absolute shit and if i have the game sound higher than 25 i cant hear him talk lol

Its just a limitation of the sound environment that engineers can create in games. You have ears on either side of your head, so if engineers want to make something sound like its coming from the left or right, they just cause a slight delay in the source sound being sent to each ear, and your brain interprets this automatically as (for example, left ear hears first, its coming from the left) there no real tricks they can do like that to adjust for vertical audio. Sound panning, only helps horizontally, not vertically. Thats why, to try and compensate somewhat, games use different sound files for vertical audio. like boots on the floor above use a different sound file from boots on the floor below you. (and not just in siege) where this falls apart tends to be on stair cases, as not only as the same sound files used regardless of where someone is on a stair case, (uniform material usually) but they cannot delay or pan them to differentiate upper or lower sound sources, as well as the stair case being open and the sound can travel equally from above or below to your in game ears.
Vertical audio in this game is absolutely atrocious. I hate when teammates pop a hatch in the site we’re defending. Especially a same floor hatch. I end up having to leave that area because I legit hear people like they’re right next to me and then die to someone on the hatch I was initially watching.
when i’m playing r6 (not very much anymore) i don’t struggle to hear the sounds i just can’t tell where they are coming from anymore, did sound used to not need a hole to go through or am i just bad now
They have it go through the quickest route (sometimes a hole isn't big enough either) instead of through a wall. Maybe because it'd be literal wall hacks if it was like mw where you can hear exactly where they're at through everything
Is 7.1 really that bad?? With it off it sounds so bad, but with it on I can hear it better, the footstep sounds are better (based on the audio of the video)
@sandypits You can hear it better but you don't know where it's coming from(in my opinion) sometimes i had it off and I could hear defuser planting on the other side of the map which is so confusing to me
For me personally i bought a astro a50 i play on ps5 and i can t hear footsteps properly i use nightmode and once i didn t hear someone slowwalking in kids bedroom oregon while i was at the rotate from adic.. how?? I have my sound settings maxed out does my command center settings matter on ps5?
i had astro a50's with a pretty good sounding eq and i switched to logitech xpro 2 and i cant figure out why the audio is so bad after switching. anyone have an idea to try?
1,400 hours on siege and never changed my audio settings, ME personally it all depends on if you have good hearing, and the type of headset you have, I would not play siege with a turtle beach headset from 2015...
What headset are you using? I currently have the PlayStation headphones that were 99 bucks. They are good for cod, but I struggle on seige with them. Thought it might be the settings since I tuned them for cod. But I have been messing with the 3D audio and everything can’t find anything good.
i can hear everything cllear when im watching other peoples screens on disc and when i watch videos but my sound is messed up idk why i checked myy settings nothing helps
When you are in game you are focused on other things as well like angles or enemy and there are also more sound cues at 1 time so you miss some of them
fk the sounds i cant see them people from far away especially if they are peeking only head or sum and im getting depressed idk if its my monitor and pc cuz im on low everything only LOD or whatever its named is medium and im on 60hz and im getting so mad when i have the aim but not the eyes or the pc specs to win
In tarkov I can hear exactly where enemies are like to the centimeter, whereas in siege it gets confusing sometimes even if they are right next to me. I’ve played the game for years and tried every trick in the book 😭
Sorry my friend but i prefer the headset with 7.1 mode cause that mod helps me determine where are they coming from i cant pay 280 bucks for a basic headset
0:29 the debate is completely childish and you just spread misinformation. There is no actual difference and no, night mode doesnt make footsteps louder (it just makes it harder to judge target distance). The only significant change is that the tinnitus effect is slightly shorter in night mode, but overall Hi-Fi is better because you hear uncompressed sound.
@@SINOOS-R6 lmao im not wrong. Not only you did literally 0 research, but it was experimentally proven by a real audio engineer. Surprise, surprise, night mode just compressed the dynamic range, it doesnt do anything beyond that
@AmelpsXett ok mr expert. At the end of the day night mode makes footsteps louder why? Cuz reinforcement sounds are lower. Easy pz. No need to make it complicated or do a research. @@SINOOS-R6 "night mode makes footsteps louder why?" it factually doesnt, its a placebo. "Cuz reinforcement sounds are lower." ???????????? how does it play into actual gameplay past the prep phase? Its literally a logical fallacy lmao "Research is for reddit users." i dont even know what to say or what to compare this sentence to to show how dumb it is. I think its just self evident. Didnt expect much from an Ash player whose full extent is dunking on equally clueless kids, but for 3k+ hours "Hifi is everything loud" no its not lol. Again, its a placebo or poorly chosen sound level. Also forgot to say that Night mode is actually gimping you since you cant differentiate some sounds behind ambience as easily or at all, like airjabs Also if you still want sound compression then TV mode is the best, since its the middleground. Have you ever tried it?
They try to go a realistic route with sound only coming from the quickest route the audio can get to you from. So while the entire floor below you may be open and the enemy is running up the stairs next to you, you'll only hear audio coming from the hole in the floor and by the time the sound starts actually coming through from the stairs you're already getting swung
This doesn't explain the Gridlock shifting the tectonic plates sprinting at me and there being absolutely no sound
Have you tried putting a bell on her?

7:42 after u shot the holes, i heard him ltierally right next to you and not above is that normal??
No. you should realize thats above not next to you. also since he is close thats how it sounds
Vertical audio in this game is absolutely atrocious. I hate when teammates pop a hatch in the site we’re defending. Especially a same floor hatch. I end up having to leave that area because I legit hear people like they’re right next to me and then die to someone on the hatch I was initially watching.
My problem is that sound that are in front are behind and sound from the back is in front
when i’m playing r6 (not very much anymore) i don’t struggle to hear the sounds i just can’t tell where they are coming from anymore, did sound used to not need a hole to go through or am i just bad now
Sound travels through holes so if there are like more holes(doors, windows etc) it will be confusing
They have it go through the quickest route (sometimes a hole isn't big enough either) instead of through a wall. Maybe because it'd be literal wall hacks if it was like mw where you can hear exactly where they're at through everything
So like when im spectating i can hear stuff so much easier when im playing is that like a game thing or just a me thing?
its everyone. in game you are tunnel visioned and focused. you miss sound cues
what do you think about something like Dolby Atmos Headphones or Windows Sonic?
No idea about those
Is 7.1 really that bad?? With it off it sounds so bad, but with it on I can hear it better, the footstep sounds are better (based on the audio of the video)
@sandypits You can hear it better but you don't know where it's coming from(in my opinion) sometimes i had it off and I could hear defuser planting on the other side of the map which is so confusing to me
I think the sound is just screwy sometimes... Especially when trying to locate the diffuser 🤦♂️
Hey you are all good. Just stay focused on sound cues in game. You might miss them cause there are different sound cues
Stop buying junk headset as Corsair, Razer, Logitech, etc. Buy a Hi-Fi headset as Audio Technica, EPOS (Sennheiser), Focal, Final, etc, you'll cleary hear the differences.
What in the master bedroom and gym clubhouse rotate
mono is that you dont hear any difference in left and right
love this video
Glad to hear that❤️
i had astro a50's with a pretty good sounding eq and i switched to logitech xpro 2 and i cant figure out why the audio is so bad after switching. anyone have an idea to try?
I own Shure 535 earbuds & I just recently bought fiio k11 amp any suggestions if I should be using that or any settings for an amp
Tbh i have no knowledge of that
literally never use mono audio in any game unless you are deaf in one ear.
Can somebody help me I cam here footsteps but I don't know where is it coming from
wait so what u are saying is that I should turn off 7.1 ?
@@mrdiamozz9612 yes in my opinion
5:08 i dont know i have a pretty good headset and i didnt hear shit also i dont know how u knew it was on the right if u heard it
1,400 hours on siege and never changed my audio settings, ME personally it all depends on if you have good hearing, and the type of headset you have, I would not play siege with a turtle beach headset from 2015...
What headset are you using? I currently have the PlayStation headphones that were 99 bucks. They are good for cod, but I struggle on seige with them. Thought it might be the settings since I tuned them for cod. But I have been messing with the 3D audio and everything can’t find anything good.
How do I tell if it’s my teammate moving or shooting and not an enemy?
Outlines and sound. Either they are shooting each other which are 2 different sound cues or its only 1 which you see the outline
Serious question. Do you even know what Mono is? Or The difference between Stereo and Mono?
@yodawantsoda8989 mono is one audio channel and stereo is left and right so 2 audio channels
Is the hyperx cloud III good for r6?
From what I've heard, cloud 2 is better than 3
i can hear everything cllear when im watching other peoples screens on disc and when i watch videos but my sound is messed up idk why i checked myy settings nothing helps
When you are in game you are focused on other things as well like angles or enemy and there are also more sound cues at 1 time so you miss some of them
@@SINOOS-R6 ive been playing siege for years and ever since i switched to pc its been like this
I have the hyper x Cloud 2 for xbox s s how can I turn off the 7.1
It should be on your wire or headset or software
should i use DTS Headphone:X?THX!
No idea tbh
Yo was is that charm u used on your shotgun it’s a bright red one
Champ charm
Champ charm
@@SINOOS-R6 😐
Did you try crouch on spacebar?
i haven't played for a long time. my videos are from far back
7.1 sounds is an advertising scam you don't need them they have no advantage at least to me
bro got better heaset i think
What headset did you say?
@@MaskedPhotoz hyperx cloud 2
My audio is just not load at all and i have everything on max
Your video is how it should sound for me but its like 50% lower
No idea why is that
Yeah, I can't tell where the footsteps are.
How do you make your optic thinner
You can't
fk the sounds i cant see them people from far away
especially if they are peeking only head or sum and im getting depressed idk if its my monitor and pc cuz im on low everything only LOD or whatever its named is medium and im on 60hz and im getting so mad when i have the aim but not the eyes or the pc specs to win
doesn't change the fact they tried to make "realistic" sounds and fked it up, the sounds are just bad in siege
so as the people playing the game
What should my optic opacity be on?
60 to 100
should i be playnig mono or the other one
STEREO!!!
Stereo
i had 7.1 1200h on this game no way its better without now i trust no settings
Would you recommend the SteelSeries GG software for sound ?
Tbh I have no idea but have heard good things about it
Answer: You need expensive Headset.
I have been playing on 7.1 for 3 months 💀
How do i turn off 7.1
Its either in software or on your headset or the wire
In tarkov I can hear exactly where enemies are like to the centimeter, whereas in siege it gets confusing sometimes even if they are right next to me. I’ve played the game for years and tried every trick in the book 😭
Sound is terrible in the game, footsteps are not distinguishable
They are
I use a samsung phone headset n its perfect for sound all different sound ques
i prefer my Samsung AKG than my Hyper X Cloud
Sorry my friend but i prefer the headset with 7.1 mode cause that mod helps me determine where are they coming from i cant pay 280 bucks for a basic headset
@DrZeon97 Sure bro. However you feel
Does coloud 3 have 7.1
No idea
0:29 the debate is completely childish and you just spread misinformation. There is no actual difference and no, night mode doesnt make footsteps louder (it just makes it harder to judge target distance). The only significant change is that the tinnitus effect is slightly shorter in night mode, but overall Hi-Fi is better because you hear uncompressed sound.
You are wrong
@@SINOOS-R6 lmao im not wrong. Not only you did literally 0 research, but it was experimentally proven by a real audio engineer.
Surprise, surprise, night mode just compressed the dynamic range, it doesnt do anything beyond that
@AmelpsXett ok mr expert. At the end of the day night mode makes footsteps louder why? Cuz reinforcement sounds are lower. Easy pz. No need to make it complicated or do a research. Research is for reddit users. Hifi is everything loud and why would you want reinforcement sound loud?!
Back to same thing
Nightmode>hifi
@@SINOOS-R6 "night mode makes footsteps louder why?" it factually doesnt, its a placebo.
"Cuz reinforcement sounds are lower." ???????????? how does it play into actual gameplay past the prep phase? And again, both are "quieter" (still the same db output), not only one. Its literally a logical fallacy lmao
"Research is for reddit users." i dont even know what to say or what to compare this sentence to to show how dumb it is. I think its just self evident. Didnt expect much from an Ash player whose full extent is dunking on equally clueless kids, but for 3k+ hours
"Hifi is everything loud" no its not lol. Again, its a placebo or poorly chosen sound level.
Also forgot to say that Night mode is actually gimping you since you cant differentiate some sounds behind ambience as easily or at all, like airjabs
Also if you still want sound compression then TV mode is the best, since its the middleground. Have you ever tried it?
@@SINOOS-R6@AmelpsXett is right you know
r6 directional sound sucks...period
They try to go a realistic route with sound only coming from the quickest route the audio can get to you from. So while the entire floor below you may be open and the enemy is running up the stairs next to you, you'll only hear audio coming from the hole in the floor and by the time the sound starts actually coming through from the stairs you're already getting swung
@@williewilson2250 yeah, but not realistic though cuz i can hear sounds simultaneously IRL lol
@@GgG-71494 that's why, they can't just make the closest route louder than the other
Get new ears bro 😂😂😂
