    I must admit that, despite marking EVERTHING, I failed to solve this puzzle until I watched your solve. The answer was the quad in row 9. It was right in front of my face but I just never look for quads. Taking the quad into account the puzzle fell apart immediately. I do recall one other NYT puzzle that had quads at its core, two of them hidden in a single block. I couldn't find those either. Guess I need to add quads to my bag of tricks. THANKS!

      It's interesting that the quad was required!

    15:30 I’m going back on old ones to learn and I was stuck with whole grid penciled in but, had know idea about the hidden quad pointing the 1’s, and that unlocked everything for a 20 sec finish. Another lesson learned, thanks for the tutoring you provide

    I was stuck till you showed how in the last row 1 can't be in the first 3 columns. That solved the rest of the puzzle. A good one indeed..

    I didn't see that quad for FAR too long! Enjoyed the puzzle and your solve as always!

      It's definitely unusual for a NYT puzzle!

      Same! I had to punt after 40 minutes and follow the video. I only had maybe 2/3 of the puzzle solved but once I was shown the quad in the last row the whole thing collapsed quickly.

      @@FredDrake76 Yeah, I just punted after 40 minutes and had to follow the video too. The quad got me too. And he is right, a quad is definitely unusual for a NYT puzzle.

    Thank you! You explaining your steps is exactly why your videos are so helpful to learn from when I am stuck. Have to admit that I had to watch that section around 14:03 about the 1234 quad at the bottom row a number of times before the penny dropped. Got it now.

    Yep I definitely watch these when I get stuck - I’m also mainly here for the moderate-advanced techniques.

    At 12:10 I think you had a 145 triple ...Placing 8 in the in the last column

    • @Rangsk
      @Rangsk  Год назад +1

      Good spot! Another way to say that is there's a hidden single 8 in row 5 :)

    I looked for ages until I found the Quad in R9. I did however, spot the 35 pair in C2...

    I'm surprised they used 1234 quads in b8/9 to resolve r9.

    17:00 - "THAT'S 3 IN THE CORNER, that's 3 in the SPOT...LIGHT, proving its position" - Your software is BROKEN... Where's your party confetti? If you don't sing every time a 3 gets placed in the corner, then you're missing a great opportunity to smile. Even grumpy old Mark Goodliffe sings for the web-cam. Click the cog icon, and under the Experimental Header, there's an option to activate the "3 in the corner" animation.

      Hey, thanks for watching! I'm aware of the "3 in the corner" celebration that Cracking the Cryptic does, and it definitely creates fun and memorable moments on their channel. However, I've consciously decided not to activate that feature for a couple of reasons.
      First, that's their unique 'thing,' and I respect it as such. I strive to bring my own flavor to the world of Sudoku solving, so I want to avoid borrowing someone else's catchphrase or gimmick. Second, I have viewers who aren't familiar with CTC and activating the feature tends to raise questions from that audience.
      So while I appreciate the suggestion, and I get that it's in the spirit of having fun, for now, I'll stick to my approach and continue to focus on making my channel a unique experience for all viewers. I hope you continue to enjoy the content!
